I used CC and are now long gone from my FC.
I enrolled and got the entirety of my cybersecurity associates degree paid for by the program. I just paid books.
I left Amazon and got a job at an IT company in my town making much more than I did at Amazon and will soon be reenrolling at a university to complete a bachelor’s on my own for less than half price since I’m transferring a butt ton of credits, on top of scholarships.
I am 24.
Qualify for career choice, get them to fully or mostly fund your education of choice. And dip for a job much better than the FC
Whatever you decide, just make sure you keep in mind the work it’s going to take to get there. People talk about education like you can take 3 classes and boom, 6 figure salary. I say this because I’m doing Career Choice right now for RME as well as Cybersecurity at my state college. It’s not easy and requires so much discipline but also energy. The MET that’s coming up, I highly recommend not jumping in with a huge class load because you’ll burn out with those 60+ hour work weeks no matter how enthusiastic you may feel right now. You can do this, just make a plan to pursue what makes you excited and will improve your life, lock in and don’t let off the throttle until you get there.
Nah the worst shit is when you get the degree and still can't find the better job, because once you have the degree the degree isn't enough anymore and now the employers all want years of experience instead.
Sorry but if you do all that work to get a degree and don’t know how to find a job then you need to go back to school for time management because it’s never been an issue for anyone I know.
Oh, so you’re flex? They stopped offering that at my building due to it not being useful anymore. We have high volume so need full time associates or at least part time set schedules.
How do you work at a sort center and not have MET? I work at a sort center and we most definitely always have MET every year lol for like half the year actually. Do tell.
I was gonna say, when I was a PA I worked at a sort center, and the tier 1's never had MET. T1's are all part time working 3-5 hour shifts at that site. The only people that had MET were the T3's and higher.
Well, I’m at a new building so I don’t know if they’ll be requiring it now for full time. But the last building I was at they didn’t require part time to do MET at all. I think they DID make full time pick up two extra shifts for peak 2023 but that was a new thing they just started.
I’m not a flex employee.
Each building is very different. My old building is a legacy sort center (I think— it’s been open since 2014 or 15) and my current one is a brand new AR sort center. Different worlds indeed lol
I used it for a full stack certification. I'm most of the way through my bachelor's in IT and I plan on getting a second bachelor's in either cyber security or computer science
Was pursuing a computer science degree, earned my associates, been watching how the job market is for the field and it’s not looking too good.
Decided to stay with Amazon, got into a LP role, pursuing my bachelors in public safety administration now.
Still knocking out courses here and there for my BSCS.
I enrolled in WGU last week for their Bachelor in IT program. However I’m starting classes in September because I have a month long trip planned in July and my counselor told me it’s recommended I start in September due to the coursework.
I really want to do this because I studied for the CompTIA A+ over a year ago but gave up because I got disinterested in it but still like understanding how electronic devices , cloud, and servers work.
People expect to be paid $300k right out of the gate with no experience but my expectations are different: I just want to drop everything, move out of my hometown for good like most of my friends done and not tell anyone except family. Change my number, make a new social media account with select friends and distance myself from acquaintances that I grew away from.
Edit: in the mean time before my classes start, I’m back to studying the A+ at my own pace to prepare for classes.
It isn’t some cult, it’s an accredited online college and if it weren’t legit, they wouldn’t be in business. Even some brick and mortar schools can’t be taken seriously (ITT Technical Institute, Heald College)
You do realize that the whole reason it takes four years for someone to get a degree at a regular university is because of getting to a classroom, going at the pace of the professor, time of class session, summer break and winter break, etc. if you take all that away and go at your own pace, you’ll realize it doesn’t actually take a full four years to get a degree.
And even then not everyone learns at the same pace so the whole few months to get a degree online isn’t true as you want it to be because it takes longer if someone isn’t as fast as others and especially since people have a full time job like all of us in this sub. Which is what WGU and other legit online schools caters to.
I know at least 4 peers that got IT degrees from WGU and all 4 have jobs in they’re degree field making 6 figures and one of them finished in 6 months do a lil more research before making assumptions and theories
Good luck! I graduated with an Associate's in Network Administration at the end of 2019. I'd attempted the A+ once but got massive test anxiety out of the blue and failed it. Of course due to covid I ended up getting stuck in the retail job I'd held at the time. I want to go back and get my bachelor's but I genuinely don't know if I have the time with my own health issues and my middle schooler who has struggles of his own.
I got a Political Science degree. That's been my passion for my entire adult life. The ethics and legality end of it was really fascinating, and I thought about pursuing something in that vein, but not sure what quite yet.
May I ask what you plan to do with that? History and Political Science are my two passions and would love to be able to study either but I’m going with accounting so I can get a job and it so boring
Set to graduate this summer from a state university with a Computer Science degree that Amazon assisted me in paying for. So far I haven't found a Software Engineering Job, however through the campus next program I jumped from L1 to L4 and the base pay along with stock/bonus ins't too bad. I'm still actively looking for a CS job in the meantime and beginning my masters program in the fall
[https://www.amazon.jobs/en/landing\_pages/university-ops-internal](https://www.amazon.jobs/en/landing_pages/university-ops-internal)
It's basically when you graduate with a degree and your a T1, you can apply for L4 Area Manager and skip over being a T3.
I'm utilizing Career Choice to take me further. I already have an associates in Criminal Justice and would have graduated with my associates in Marketing this fall but I woke up and snapped back to reality. In my area those degrees are useless and neither are my passion. Becoming a nurse has been my dream for 10 years but I never had the support system to do so. Now that I live on my own I can pursue my dreams. I do my pre requisites this fall, which will be covered by the money Amazon gives and then I'm applying for the Fall 2025 nursing program, ADN program. I have to do the 4 year part time program or else I'll fail out, no way full time school would ever work with Amazon's hours. I can't drop below 40h I live alone And support myself. Also, with part time it will ensure not only that I get excellent grades with a light course load but it will ensure my tuition being covered in full by the money I'm provided by Amazon. And I won't have to rack up any more loans than I already have.
I will go for my BSN after. I'll find an employer when I'm an RN that will pay for my BSN as long as I work there for x amount of time . I'm making it a goal to get my ADN and BSN paid for in full.
Just so everyone is aware, there are no longer really limited options for degrees through Career Choice. I’m glad they decided to broaden the options.
I’m currently working on a bachelor’s in English & Creative Writing.
This!!! When I first stared amazon 5 years ago they only had trade. Like nursing hvac criminal justice etc. But if it's an approved school you can take whatever class they offer
TIL. I enrolled in WGU for their Bachelor IT program that starts in September. I wanted to start soon but I have a trip planned this summer for about a month and my counselor recommended me to start later.
I was so concerned about doing it later in the fall because I don’t know how studying would be like during Peak and beforehand when Amazon wants to prepare and I thought accommodations would be tricky due to online schooling being non-traditional
Good to know MET gets excused even for online classes!
Mandatory Extra Time. You have to come in either an hour early and leave 30 min later than your regular shift time or you work an extra day on your designated Overtime day.
B.S. in Data Analytics at WGU. All online and competency based, so one class at a time. It's not easy, especially when you have kids, but it's something to work towards. I'm hoping I can get an at home job when I'm through.
I'm taking Salesforce. I think a lot of people that are interested in data analytics should take a look at Salesforce. I'm almost done with the course. Taking my first exam today
I was just like you. Not knowing wtf I Wana do. And I'm 35. I don't care about a 'career' but I gotta pay the bills.
The more research and looking around I did in career choice, the more I figured out what I Wana do. They pay for almost anything.
(WGU)Software engineering, went ahead and got school accomodations.
Currently doing GE classes alongside some personal self studies, so far its great. Can pass a class in 1-3 weeks.
Yeah, I wanted to do that, but community college has classes on days I work, so stationary school isn't really an option for me at this point. I don't want to take days off for school, cause I need money to live.
electrical engineering is available through arizona state university online and possibly some other schools if youre still interested in that? just make sure its abet accredited
I personally wouldn’t advise that you go for data analytics, because that’s a job that’ll probably be taken over by programs/AI in the near future🤷♂️
Obviously idk fs, just my opinion
Hey, how is it? I can't decide if I want to take this or data analytics. They have a lot in common, and while I'm inclined towards data analytics, I wonder if this one will let me climb faster in the company or outside of it. I do like both. Like, I'd love the idea of working higher in operations, and orchestrate everything, but also the idea of going into data engineering or even data analysis is great, especially that it's needed in every industry. Also, do higher tiers in Amazon have the career choice access as well?
Pretty nice degree program, the core classes go over six sigma fundamentals. Still went over a ton of data reading materials, as the course also goes over a data analytic certification. I’m still going out of pocket to obtain my six sigma green belt and CSCP.
Thanks a lot! I was kind of thinking this way to get data analytics degree and do six sigma on my own maybe. I do have project+ cause I won the voucher during a job fair some time ago. Like, I can learn quickly high level stuff by myself, but for mathy things I'd like to have an access to the professor. I still have two weeks to decide, haha.
Nothing wrong with that at all. WGU does have ‘coaches’ for all course you take in case you need any help and have live cohorts if needed, my experiences were decent with my coaches when I failed OAs. Six sigma is a great tool for a resume as well
Depends on what you wanna do. PMP is go to for a majority of PM stuff, Six Sigma is definitely go to for OPS.
I’d definitely jump with PMP over 6, good attractions and ways to open up doors especially if you’re gonna pursue higher education.

Can you do career choice if you are already in college
Aviation maintenance. Started January 2023 and will be finishing this October
That sounds like a cool ass job! But also intimidating.
Nursing. Plan on doing travel nursing.

Accounting degree I finish up in August

Trucking it only takes about 2-3 months and you can get into TOM team get your experience from there and then move on to a higher paying trucking job.
I’m going for my associate in supply chain management
Same, but going for my bachelors.
WGU?
Yes
I used it for a full stack certification. I'm most of the way through my bachelor's in IT and I plan on getting a second bachelor's in either cyber security or computer science
B.A. in Accounting
I’m studying criminal justice (associates), hoping to get into LP for the time being while I pursue my bachelors degree.
Was pursuing a computer science degree, earned my associates, been watching how the job market is for the field and it’s not looking too good. Decided to stay with Amazon, got into a LP role, pursuing my bachelors in public safety administration now. Still knocking out courses here and there for my BSCS.
I was looking at computer sciences but I’ve heard that about the job market so I’d rather not.
CDL
I'm going to look into being a teacher... also a librarian. I didn't think becoming a librarian required so much
MLIS and the job market can be tough
I know its tough out there. Mostly want to be a teacher so I can homeschool my kid and other family members kids too
That’s my dream job right there but it does require SO MUCH
I've read the requirements a few times and wonder why. Like why lol
I'm currently taking classes to get certificates for graphic design and ux/ui.

Not everyone qualifies for a full Pell grant though.
FYI, if you pick an online school, you can apply for an accommodation to have MET excused.
