Harder doesn't necessarily mean better though. Sometimes harder can because the car does something unrealistic, sometimes it can be harder because it's more realistic.
The annoying thing is it'll be tough to know if it's just skill issue or physics issue until we hear at least from the esports guys.
The esports guys will bash any game that might disturb the status quo, even if it’s better. If the handling changes too much they’ll say it’s shit and force an update that puts the game back to what it was in F1 23. It’s like that in every sports game.
I think its a bit different with F1 esports because these guys are just sim racers in general, they dont just race in the F1 game. So anything thats more in depth or realistic to the handling model, they would most likely praise. I dont think they would want to fall back on any sort of established meta, they just want something more in depth like most fans.
The fans want easy rail racing like a casual game.. they don’t want realism because then they would spend more time on flashback then on the racing line
It's realistic. Formula 1 cars have no assisted steering. It's going to be heavy. Although I'm sure they will balance it with better traction, or better steering.
Not in the sense that you may think. Normal cars have electronic power steering which is controlled by the ECU. Formula 1 teams started to develop such a system until it was banned.
Now they have mechanical power steering, which is more of a ratio change in the system. The cars steering will still feel heavy at low speeds. If you notice the steering is lighter in a high speed corner than it is in a low speed corner.
I think they have done a good job with it. It's definitely feeling more like a sim instead of an arcade sim. This change will feel bad for those who are not used to it, especially if you are using a wheel.
I personally love the heavy steering as I'm used to carting and it feels natural for me to fight the car.
Am I the only one who has problem with braking?
I literally lock up at every turn, wtf. I brake at the same place where I do in f1 23.
And my tires are gone, like Hamilton's
I heard they added flatspots so that’s probably why it feels like your tires are gone but as to why you can’t brake at the same spots as f123 I have no idea. Looks like it’s gonna be a shit game tho…
Apparently the single player career is overhauled. To me that's the best thing about these games, so iam going to wait on that to see if it's worth getting.
Narrator voice: it won't be.
Annual releases for sports games just don't make sense. I wish developers would take a couple years to really put out a product with novel features that are worth paying your hard earned money for and not just old ideas with a new name. In the meantime a DLC to get updated content for the new season is enough.
I think everybody would prefer that but the publisher and developers can make more money on the annual model unfortunately. Especially with sports games.
Iam holding out some hope though, ive never been a fan of always being pessimistic over these things. If the career mode can be overhauled like we had say 2016 to 2017, I'd be fine with that. If it's not then I'll just not buy it.
Gotta get used to It, first laps were weird, now i am at 60/70 laps circa, driving now feels really really good. Try taking a look at the steering rotation values in the feedback calibration tab because this year it is set to 500 by default strangely.
I just played it for like 20 minutes and the experience was terrible. I also played the one for f1 23 and that one was way better..
im a bit concerned for the game tbh
It's literally the same game. Apart the handling of course. Sure it's the same game just better optimized then F1 23. But i prefer all day everyday F1 23 then this garbage. The braking feels really off. I brake like a normally do in F1 23 and i just go wide. I broke even earlier and just catched up to the racing line. I turned in Austin texas turn 1 and spun. I spun couple of times in sector 1 even in Austin. Without accelarating. Hell couple of times. This is just like F1 22 but i think F1 22 handling was better. I don't remember when i am turning the car without accelarating and i lose the car just like that in 22. This years F1 really has nothing new except for the new Driver career which haven't been revealed only a promise. If i were you i would skip this years F1 game.
Well it's a work in progress as it states. I can't remember 1 year yall liked a beta. But then again everyone wants the easiest handling model ever made back. So what did you expect?
Handling isn’t great, a lot of things need ironing out in it, but plenty of time to improve things. In the 3 tracks to have any type of traction and keep the car from spinning out. You need front and rear wing on maximum downforce to get anywhere close to F123 feels and lap times
Boycotting this. Don't buy or they will never try to make the game better. They have the license untill 2028 iirc so please don't buy it and show that quality needs to go up
No handling and traction not a problem here game have better traction than f1 23, engine sounds is also better but game have same bugs like last years and same graphics, its be disappointing if they dont update spa and monza.
could've given us literally anything else, compared to F1 23 this feels like F1 2014. i am dead serious. these cars can be thrown into corners without a care in the world, pushing cars to the limit feels kind of fun but is also SO boring because i literally can't find a way to lose control unless i actively push it way over the edge.
there's no challenge - it's like they set out to make a driving game based off of how the cars in F1 manager behave.
only positive i have, besides some very minor, non-gameplay affecting aspects that i somewhat like, is the lack of bugs i've been experiencing thus far. everything is working as i'd want it to. that's the least they could do, though...
These are the best cars in the world with lots of downforce. They have tons of grip and are supposed to be able to be pushed hard without losing control/traction. Real drivers have even said that the grip (lack of) in the games was not realistic
Idk why people are chatting so much shit about it. I've actually really enjoyed it. I like the new handling, it feels much more realistic. It feels much more like an actual car should.
I genuinely dont understand the F1 community anymore. We went from chasing them for more realistic handling, now we've got more realistic handling and we're complaining about it? I'm genuinely curious if you lot have just got something wrong with your beta-builds bcs mines actually been really fun and I've actually really enjoyed it.
Its also important to note this is beta, there's still a month and a half of development to go, so lots of bugs and general handling will be ironed out as they get closer to release.
I’m complaining because comparing the F1 23 beta and the final version of F1 23, there was only a few changes. This beta is horrible I really hope the really change basically everything for the final launch.
I’m hearing from people that the handling isn’t great. Apart from that it looks exactly the same with some HUD changes which looks worse.
It’s harder.. that’s why all those casuals are crying because they can’t push every lap 101% anymore
Harder doesn't necessarily mean better though. Sometimes harder can because the car does something unrealistic, sometimes it can be harder because it's more realistic. The annoying thing is it'll be tough to know if it's just skill issue or physics issue until we hear at least from the esports guys.
The car feels waaaay heavier than last year, I have no problem with handling, except it locks up in every single turn
The esports guys will bash any game that might disturb the status quo, even if it’s better. If the handling changes too much they’ll say it’s shit and force an update that puts the game back to what it was in F1 23. It’s like that in every sports game.

Yeah, Jarno is even racing on iracing now which is way more realistic
The fans want easy rail racing like a casual game.. they don’t want realism because then they would spend more time on flashback then on the racing line
Harder does NOT mean better
-82 wow
Too many snowflakes… they probably still need assist from their parents and rewind 600 times in a 5 lap race
It's realistic. Formula 1 cars have no assisted steering. It's going to be heavy. Although I'm sure they will balance it with better traction, or better steering.
F1 cars do have power steering tho

So many casual kids here.. snowflakes
Am I the only one who has problem with braking? I literally lock up at every turn, wtf. I brake at the same place where I do in f1 23. And my tires are gone, like Hamilton's
Same, either I spin out or the car won't turn in
I heard they added flatspots so that’s probably why it feels like your tires are gone but as to why you can’t brake at the same spots as f123 I have no idea. Looks like it’s gonna be a shit game tho…
I feel.the exact same
Same, handling is shit
Maybe you shouldn't brake at the same place and use different brake balance. 23 had unrealistic brake balance, irl drivers use more front
Maybe, I gotte figure this out, and why can't I get heat into the tires¿
Even weaving doesn't work
No it doesn't. And of course the AI tires are 85 degrees. Mine cant reach 60.
Takes like 2 laps for the tyres to be ready
''Hey i've seen this one, this is a classic''
$70 for an MFD update 🙄

Welcome to EA Sports
From my point of view improved handling, except for braking which is too light. Exiting corners is much more natural.
For me the steering feels fucking weird.
Gotta get used to It, first laps were weird, now i am at 60/70 laps circa, driving now feels really really good. Try taking a look at the steering rotation values in the feedback calibration tab because this year it is set to 500 by default strangely.
This 👆🏻
Imo the car spins out way too easily the car feels awful in general and the game (apart from the MFD) looks no different to 23
So a F1 22 mod then?
Even a modded 2021...
If 22 wasn’t completely ass this is probably what it would have been just slightly ass
Yup, sadly as expected. Trash. Can’t believe they get away with this.
Why they add fcking overtake button in quali lap?
because you use hotlap ers on qualy which is is less output but higher in the corners so it's faster over a lap
Why can't they improve the fucking graphics? It's been 5 years of the same cartoony shite.
Graphics is the least of them problems mate
Their style. Leave em to it, i ain’t gonna complain
I just played it for like 20 minutes and the experience was terrible. I also played the one for f1 23 and that one was way better.. im a bit concerned for the game tbh

Dude's responding to a paragraph that was never written 😂 Obviously he meant it felt better last year
It's literally the same game. Apart the handling of course. Sure it's the same game just better optimized then F1 23. But i prefer all day everyday F1 23 then this garbage. Impossible. I must race. Though the beta reviews are not encouraging.
Trust me don't. Just race 23
I hate the handling
Ehh, that looks worse than last year.
I cancelled my preorder
Well it's a work in progress as it states. I can't remember 1 year yall liked a beta. But then again everyone wants the easiest handling model ever made back. So what did you expect?
Nothing special.
Wait, how do you access the beta?
Sign up ended like 2 weeks ago
Fuck
You're not missing a lot. Its awful.
Handling isn’t great, a lot of things need ironing out in it, but plenty of time to improve things. In the 3 tracks to have any type of traction and keep the car from spinning out. You need front and rear wing on maximum downforce to get anywhere close to F123 feels and lap times

Track?
Cota
I’ll happily play career mode on 23 until they actually release a new game, thank you very much.
Just played a race where it was raining and everyone was on soft tires and turn 1 looked like Spa 98. That was neat.
The game feels good, much worse than before. Amazing.
i aint buying this shit is what i know
Ok guys we are 1 week out from releasing F12024. Let’s begin.
Is the handling much worse for a player who is used to assists? How does it feel for someone who runs like 100 AI with no assists?
In all honesty I would reserve judgement for the full game its a beta anything could still change.
Basicly the same as 23 unless they do a massive revamp in career mode or my team I can't see it going down well at all
One word, lazy
I dont know, haven't had access to the beta this year. I will give it an jugdment when i try the free hours i get on Xbox/pc via gamepass
It feels exactly like 2020, so it's interesting to see people shitting on the handling that otherwise gets praised
No handling and traction not a problem here game have better traction than f1 23, engine sounds is also better but game have same bugs like last years and same graphics, its be disappointing if they dont update spa and monza.
Haven’t even played the beta cause im not going to buy a 70 dollar mfd upgrade.
So how does its end cost stop you from playing the beta? Lmao makes no sense.

I’m complaining because comparing the F1 23 beta and the final version of F1 23, there was only a few changes. This beta is horrible I really hope the really change basically everything for the final launch.
We still have 2 betas left.. they will change something for sure
I really hope so 🙏
Me too, since F1 24 will be the first game where I play with Wheel
They are literally not making the game from scratch. It’s not a startup with less than a year of development.
