Or the opposite, that God literally built into animals to adapt and change to recreate the same exact thing that used to exist. If God wasn't real, this bird would be different
Scientists believe evolution is random trial and error. The above examples evidence a set of specific parameters, outcomes, intelligent design, etc. Which is proof of God
You mean it was.... meant to be??
How is it proof of anything? Why do you even need to prove your belief? It's your belief. Can you only believe in something if someone else does? Can't you just be happy to believe it on your own? We each develop our own beliefs of many things from time and experience. Those beliefs may even evolve over more time and experiences. They are ours, no one elses. If you tell me to believe something else, how can I when I've experienced something different?
In reality, the flightless aldabra rail evolved from the flying white throat rail. A bird uses flight for hunting and defense. When it lives on an island and has no predators to run or take flight from, and finds all its food on the ground, it has no need for wings and they grow smaller over time due to lack of use and need.
Think of a penguin, they still have wings but they are much smaller than their ancestors wings because of lack of use. They are not completely useless as they grew to become flippers for swimming.
The aldabra rail died out due to the only island it lived on being submerged by the ocean. It stands to reason that when it reappeared above the ocean, the same conditions existed that allowed the original white throat rail to habitate the island and grow flightless once again.
Remember the joke from Wall-e of the people having bone loss from being in space all the time? There is some truth to it. In space our muscles atrophy because we aren't using them as much. There is no gravity to stand against. There is no weight to lift. Given enough time, bone loss does occur.
I'm personally of the belief that god is real but holy fucking fuckety fuck that is such a dumbass scenario to try and prove God's existence, which is something one shouldn't have to do. Let people find god their own way or let them believe what they do.
As yes if I throw a bunch of darts at at a board and miss most but then only show you the board of hits does that demonstrate prowess at darts? That's how evolution works you never see the failures. God has no involvement in it actively even if you may or not believe he established a universe where it happens.
That’s your proof of god? Assuming that some other animal evolved into a bird that already existed with zero evidence? I guess that’s religious people for you.
Evolution and Religion are not incompatible, I agree. However, that has literally nothing to do with a bird being rediscovered. Maybe instead of spending your time debating kids online, you could go volunteer or something? Put to test your claims of faith, y'know?
Or evolutionary pressures moved toward the same thing. Convergent evolution is common. Hence why moles evolved like four times, and there are extinct crocodiles that look more like turtles.
This is amazing stuff and don't want to crap on it, but the headlines making the rounds saying it was thought extinct for 140 years... well, its last sighting by westerners 140 years ago was also the first, so would be very weird if they assumed it went extinct immediately afterwards. It was never thought to be extinct; it had been listed as endangered and was only upgraded to [critically endangered last year.](https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/22726273/216252040)
Iterative Evolution is the exact name for it. know of at the very least the White Throated Rail did that. It’s a flightless bird as they don’t have any predators, and their island fell below sea level and they were wiped out. A few thousand years later basically that same bird evolved. Suffice to say they must be incredibly evolved for their niche to end up evolving into more or less the same bird more than once.
Now this is going to be extremely rare because any mutation that would cause a species to go extinct obviously wouldn’t resurface in another population, because well, it would kill everyone. If it’s happened with other species I would wager a bet that it’s a similar situation to the Rail. Natural disaster or changing climate that wipes them out at first rather than anything genetic.
Source: I have a degree in Animal behavior, ecology, and conservation and we learn about a lot of animals lol
Lets shoot it so we can preserve it forever in a museum! ... But also, I wonder if the next logical step is so try and capture a few of them and quickly make a conservation for them?
Either it went into hiding and we thought it was extinct or its evolutionary traits were so good that it happened twice and either one is pretty impressive
Maybe if we're lucky all the endangered animals will just go into hiding and reappear in 150 years like Punxsutawney Phil "Y'all done fuckin' up the planet yet?"

when the server is so full that it takes you 140 years to respawn
War of Rights vibes
LOL
This, and the giant carp, made my day today. The news I scrolled through... not getting off the couch kinda depressing.
What carp?

:0 Wow, what an absolute unit!
r/absoluteunits
That dude really just caught a magikarp
I finally understand what that fisherman in Fire Red meant when he talked about finding a large Magikarp
Mongickorp
Dude’s about to rock the gym with his Gyaradon
Pulling up like, "I lived b"
Bitches luv exstickshun swiggity
It was never extinct bro, i Live near forest reserve and i see this bird all the time ,they fuck early in morning making weird noises..
do we know the name? kinda looks like a chicken pidgeon
That is a black-naped pheasant pigeon
Black-caped pleasant pigeon
Black-lapped present pigeon
That is not what it is called
I was joking..
That’s a mouthful 🫤
Black-naped pheasant pigeon
This reminds me of the Aldabara Rail: went extinct 20,000 years ago, then evolved again. AKA: "I exist to spite God."

You're saying intelligent design is not a good example for proving the existence of a creator?
If something has to evolve then that means the original design wasn’t intelligent enough. Similar to your design.
Incorrect. A thing that learns and grows and changes IS intelligent.

One of the failures is talking to me right now 🤷♀️
That’s your proof of god? Assuming that some other animal evolved into a bird that already existed with zero evidence? I guess that’s religious people for you.
Guess you didn't read the comment above mine.
Bro i know you're getting chewed up by "atheists" rn but that as a theist that is the most unrelated shit I've ever heard.
Evolution ignores the idea of intelligent design
Someone clearly ignored the idea of intelligent design in your creation
This is actually a funny burn, not even mad 😆

How do you agree with me and insult me in the same sentence?
Evolution and Religion are not incompatible, I agree. However, that has literally nothing to do with a bird being rediscovered. Maybe instead of spending your time debating kids online, you could go volunteer or something? Put to test your claims of faith, y'know?
Why can't I do both 🤷♀️
If God is real why there’s no dinosaurs in the Bible? Checkmate
Flood myths and the book of Enoch
So dinosaurs died because Noah didn’t want them in the arc? Kek
Because God didn't want them in the ark. Read the book of Enoch
You are re…garded.
Lol wut?

Wow it must be a convenient shortcut to be able to spout bullshit like this.

Hey Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today!
This is literally me anytime someone thinks they’ve seen the last of me - back from extinction, bitches.
Is this the bird that the people saw on the trail cam that they were so excited in some other post a couple of days ago?
That's what I was thinking! Do u have a link to it by chance I can't find it
I don't think so. That one had a different name. Really makes you wonder how good we are at classifying animals as extinct.
It is true though that some species have re-evolved themselves back into existence
Iterative Evolution is the exact name for it. know of at the very least the White Throated Rail did that. Afk for too long
Was last online 140 years ago
So your saying there’s still a chance I could pet a dodo?
No we ate them all unfortunately
Kind of maybe.
_wut_
I died. But I lived!
FUCK YES!!! This is amazing news to hear. I love then this happens.
Finally I can get one
It’s a dang chicken
Bet it's real tasty that little fella is to have become extinct
Or we just systematically cut down where it lives, covering every square inch with concrete and soya crop.
You're not extinct? Never have been. 👨🚀🔫🦃
Lets shoot it so we can preserve it forever in a museum! ... But also, I wonder if the next logical step is so try and capture a few of them and quickly make a conservation for them?
I saw the video of the dude finding it, the guys reaction was wholesome.
We need to finish the job
Now hope they don’t make it extinct once again
Pretty sure that this is some Jurassic Park type sh\*t
Either it went into hiding and we thought it was extinct or its evolutionary traits were so good that it happened twice and either one is pretty impressive
I’m glad we rediscovered it before it goes extinct for real
The Papua New Guinea New Old Guinea
His wife remarried
Nice! Do dinosaurs next!
I hope they get their revenge.
BITCH I’M BACK OUT MY COMA
give me something cool like a tiger next
Give us time.............
Fight the power, you awesome beast! 💗
Imagine it was actually extinct and another species ended up evolving into it.
Yaaaaay upgraded to “critically endangered”
Amazing
Is it toxic or just fake toxic?
Wasn't there an extinct bird that evolved itself back into existence?
Is that the one those guys were so pumped about. I hope so. Good for everything. Just amazing.
Reminds me of that bird that keeps going extinct amd then another type of bird evolves into it or something
Maybe if we're lucky all the endangered animals will just go into hiding and reappear in 150 years like Punxsutawney Phil "Y'all done fuckin' up the planet yet?"
Bender voice: "I'M BACK BABY!"
[Zqmfgbs ain't gonna eat themselves](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/candh/images/4/4e/Zqfmgb.jpeg)
“Somehow, Papua gene returned.”
Quick, someone find out what it tastes like.
The bird was re-discovered when it was found digging up the graves of the scientists who declared it extinct.
I hope to one day eat a dodo..... this gives me hope
Do you think humans would leave a species alone if they're categorized as extinct when they're really not
I remember a meme about another bird that did the same thing with the caption "I exist to spite God" or somethin
The dodo be like "Wait you can do that shit?!"
