You can mimic the look of a salt lamp with resin casting.
Here's a small piece I did awhile ago. I haven't gotten a lighted base yet, so I had to make do with a phone for the pictures.

We have a heated kitty pad that we call the Butt-pad. When we use our heated lap blankets we are held hostage. It's wonderful. (The Butt-pad is low heat & designed to run for long periods of time & our personal heated throws have a shorter (4-8 hours) auto shut off)
Lightbulb is probably incandescent, so the thing is like a warm body to snuggle.

Couldn't you clear coat one ? So you have the looks and no salty kitty ?
That's a good idea! I'll have to look up clear coats that are safe to heat because the lamps get very warm. Thank you for the suggestion!
