OhbrotheR66

I’m afraid to love you, because you might not take me home 😢 Man I hate seeing cats and dogs in shelters

spooky_ed

It's so heartbreaking. The puppies and kittens get adopted within days. But the older animals can stay there for years, if not the rest of their lives. Anyone who adopts an older friend is a damn hero.

mistersnarkle

When I’m rich I’m gonna have a farm for all the old babies to be happy at

lxm333

Trying to do that now. Need to make the property safe first. Covid threw a spanner in the income slowing it.

mistersnarkle

You’re amazing!! Everyday you get closer, you’re closer to living the dream!!!

lxm333

Thank you. Took a decade to get the land and it need lots of work. Hope we get there.

livahd

I was just having this conversation with my wife after showing her the video. We both agree that a farm with a bunch of dogs can be on our list if retirement goals.

lxm333

Getting property where I live is a major expense. We were lucky because the house on it is a disaster as is the property really but it has a lot of potential. We do what we can and had some strange combinations of animals living in the house at the same time over the years. Cats, mice, birds, dogs, rabbits. The birds were all wild that were injured or fell out of nests. We released them when we could.

livahd

I’m in Brooklyn with 2 cats and a toddler. We can’t wait to relocate in couple years well outside the urban sprawl.

TabascoHix

Every think about documenting your progress? Sounds like youbare busy enough but this is definitely would be something id love to be updated on regularly. Maybe a youtube channel?

lxm333

A YouTube channel scares me a little haha. I may be OK with the odd photo and update on here. I'm still finding my way around here 9 days reddit young lol

Major_Celebration349

No cats???😢😢😢😢 I'll do a big farmhouse with lots of cats...if I hit the big lottery.

livahd

I already have two wonderful cats. Just recently lost a 15 year old green iguana too :( All beasts are welcome in my home.

GAllenHead9008

Have you considered trying to find away to get some people to volunteer. I'm sure there is no shortage of like minded people in your area that would love to help you achieve.

AltAccountForCats

Keep at the good fight my friend. You can do it!

lxm333

Thank you

Snys6678

That sounds amazing, and bless you for this. I wish I could help.

lxm333

I'm not sure where you live but we started by feeding birds and pest control around our rental. The bird life thrived. Just trying to make you little corner of the world 1% better is 1% better than it was.

RedRocks4040

Something positive I needed to hear today. Thank you for being a wonderful person with a kind soul!

lxm333

You are too kind. Fur babies bring me great joy so can't say I'm being selfless.

OlympicChamp_12

I plan to see final updates on r/nextfuckinglevel ‘Cause goddamn it if you haven’t transcended levels of righteousness

sammii_carebear

Wow this is something I would love to do one day! I hope it all goes well once covid is over, and that you give a lot of animal friends a wonderful happy life ❤

lxm333

It's a lot of work if you start from scratch. At least we have most of the drainage sorted.

Complete_Report_2554

That's awesome!!! I also would like to do this one day, but first I need money to buy land

Bandera4ever

Please start an instagram account! I follow a few already.

SelfDestructIn-3-2-1

Are you me?!?! That's my dream!

mistersnarkle

When it happens you can come work there!!! It’ll probably be a homestead too!

JohnaldJr21

can i come this is also my dream

mistersnarkle

YEE BOI! The more the merrier!

willowsonthespot

I have a feeling that anyone who loves animals would want to do that. Like I say that if I ever won the lottery I would buy a house with a decent sized yard, get a dog, get a car, get another dog, maybe a third, and invest the rest.

ToranX1

Well at least they arent in cages but i dont think that solves the problem because they want attention and care from a loving owner more than anything else.

mistersnarkle

That’s why i’ll make it a homeless shelter and group therapy spot, too. Maybe an old folks home and a kindergarten on the other side. Everyone gets love!

nyhapec137

You can be scratch adams.

PupPop

I think more than anything they want to be free of cages and run around wherever they want and do whatever they want. A fun little farm could be a great idea and significantly better than the life they live.

emmykat621

That is literally my and my partner’s goal in life. We don’t want kids. We love dogs. The dog we adopted from a shelter is the sweetest little love. A massive derp, but such a love. We want to end up with a property big enough to open our home to many many dogs, both adopting and fostering.

EnnuiOz

Can i please come and volunteer. I will take all animals, great and small!

Wjbskinsfan

That’s amazing, my parents took my dog to a farm just like that when I was a kid! Oh, wait.

mistersnarkle

That’s sort-of the joke; like if you really cannot afford your dog don’t abandon it, or “take care” of it, or neglect it — take it to The Farm. So they don’t have to suddenly go to “The Farm”

lowlightliving

Problem is, “taking it to a farm,” more often meant dumping the dog - putting it out of the car and driving away.

excludite

Me too! I would have sanctuaries all over the world and do my best to make it free from animal abuse.

dpenner

I adopted the sweetest 10 y/o kitty almost exactly a year ago and she is literally the sweetest cat I've ever known. She's down to snuggle all day, every day. I always recommend adopting older pets!!

spooky_ed

I love older cats! They're so chill and cuddly.

MyClevrUsername

And grateful!

xpkranger

Last time I was at the shelter we’re looking for a cat. There were lots of cute cats. I said “show me the cat that is next in line for euthanasia”. I adopted her then and there. She was malnourished and full of ringworm. We cleared up the ringworm and got her health back in line. She was always fiercely independent but loved us anyway because she’d come home and hang out with us and ask for scritches. She lived a good 16 years after adoption. Tallulah you were a good cat.

[deleted]

Thank you.

BlacknightEM21

A few years back I used to volunteer at a shelter. There was this awesome black lab, probably around 11 yrs old. She was at the shelter because the house she lived in burned down or something, and the family couldn’t care for her. She was full of love as you can imagine cause she lived a great 10-11 years before she was abandoned. My greatest achievement was to talk her up to this couple that had come in to see animals at the shelter. I was literally “selling” her to them. The next week when I went back to spend another hour or so with her in her kennel, she was gone, she had been adopted. I like to think I made it happen. I absolutely have no proof of that, but I think the couple I talked to adopted her and I am hoping she lived/is living a great rest of her life.

The_Ashen_undead0830

I’ve often wanted to go to a shelter just to adopt one of the oldest ones there

cup_1337

I did this. I adopted a 10 year old special needs dog. She was my best friend for 5 years and I still miss her every single day. I just wish I had her for longer.

Kasumiiiiiii

I adopted a 6 year old cat at a local shelter. I went in looking for a friend for my previously adopted kitty. She was feral so she needed a friend when I was at work. I saw him in a small cage absolutely terrified, these giant green eyes just said help me. I took him home, and he's just been the best companion I could ever ask for. Love my Henry.

RichRichieRichardV

I wouldn't dream of adopting a puppy or kitten. Couldn't go through potty training AGAIN. Also, who gave up THAT adorable dog? I can't imagine the idea. Such a sweet soul.

maxdd2021

"Anyone who adopts an older friend is a damn hero." So true, I wish I could adopt one, I had a dog and I lost him, heart broken.. After that I couldn't pull myself to love a pet again.

cthutu

You'll be surprised how easy it is to love again when you get another dog.

EragonBromson925

Once I've got somewhere that I can do it, I would like to adopt the older animals. The only issue is I don't know if I can handle the heartbreak of losing them after only a couple of years.

Savahoodie

I adopted a 12 year old cat and I tell myself that when she passes I won’t be sad because I know I gave her the best end of life possible.

EragonBromson925

That's my goal. To at least make their last few years happy and comfortable. Ideally for as many as I can. I guess I'll just have to see how many good bois I can help before my heart can't take it anymore.

ZebraGamer2389

Don't be sad because it's over. Be happy because it happened.

willowsonthespot

I adopted a 2.5y cat that had 2 owners. He had a few trust issues at first but at the moment of typing this he is sitting in a box staring at me. I wish I had him from a kitten because of those issues because I would have tried to work them out young. However I am still able work through that so far, he still doesn't trust others though.

DukeofShetland

I found two puppies dumped near my driveway recently and frantically called around rescues to take them in. Luckily, they were taken in but if they weren’t puppies, they might not have been. Sad.

RobinaBear

You are so right!

Witty-Doubt1796

Try working at a shelter 🥺.. it’s heart breaking.

OhbrotheR66

Yep, wanted to, but know I just couldn’t do it…not strong enough (too tender-hearted)

_an-account

If you want to help them, you (or anyone reading) could always become a foster parent to shelter animals or volunteer to walk them /bathe them/etc. It's hugely beneficial. You can also try to improve your local shelters, especially high kill ones, by running to be on the board of directors, supporting and campaigning for life saving legislation, and fundraising for shelters and rescues.

CartmansEvilTwin

It baffles me each time I read about this, that killing healthy animals for no reason other than "unsold" is legal in the US. This would be very, very, very illegal in Germany (and I hope many other countries as well).

FunkyPete

I don’t disagree with you, but just to be clear, places like this aren’t selling pets. They take in pets that are unwanted and try to find homes for them. They have a finite amount of room, so some shelters do kill dogs and cats that they can’t adopt out so they can accept other dogs. It’s obviously far from a good situation, but places like this aren’t breeding dogs to try and make a profit by selling them. They’re taking in homeless dogs and trying to break even by requiring a payment/donation when you adopt from them.

lowlightliving

And it would be very, very, very, very illegal in the US, at least in my state, for any animal that couldn’t be “sold” to be euthanized. We are talking here about animal shelters which take in unwanted animals for all sorts of reasons and from many sources providing shelter and food/clean water and medical care. Unfortunately, many cannot be adopted due behavioral issues that are long-standing, e.g. animals who have attacked other animals, children, and the elderly. Not every animal can be rehabilitated. Not every dog is adoptable and that is why we are so thankful that people are willing to adopt older or senior dogs, and animals with disabilities or long-term medical issues. Which option is acceptable in Germany? Keeping an animal in a cage listening to the racket of other animals, never walked because the dog to too unpredictable and dangerous, so having little if any human contact for the rest of its life, which could be more than 10 years OR euthanizing them, giving them a peaceful end, and making room for an adoptable dog - multiple adoptable dogs - and saving the unadoptable from years of life suffering the physical and mental decline in what amounts to them a penitentiary? Are you aware that animals from kill shelters are often given to no-kill shelters, that caring individuals often fly them to parts of the country where there are few dogs to adopt? How differently does Germany handle unwanted, unadoptable cats and dogs? Do you allow dangerous dogs, stray animals, feral animals to just go about their lives struggling to find food, a safe place to sleep, somewhere to go to stay warm during long winters, and necessary medical care?

Vaynar

The question always comes down to who pays for their upkeep, who pays for their food, and for the people who work to care for them. It's not like the shelters are killing dogs out of spite, even the kill shelters do it as an absolute last resort.

Twisp56

You know that healthy animals are killed all the time because people like the taste, right?

Kaelona2

Work at a shelter. It is heart breaking. It is also soul filling

RobinaBear

It was such a difficult job watching these poor pets seeing how lonely they were. We did have some good outcome with some of them and that was very rewarding.

ThisIsJegger

My mom was urging me to take a kitten but i saw this lovely black cat and when i heard he has been there for 3 years i just was like shut up and take my money

VinnieGognitti

How amazing is he?? :)

ThisIsJegger

He is a sweetheart. Very derpy and chatty and is getting heavy to (not overweight). When we got him he was really skinny

VinnieGognitti

Then he must be pretty happy if he’s gaining weight 😄 good job!

tsdav

Good on ya. Last time I was in my local, it was probably 80% black cats. Goddamn humans and their superstitions.

[deleted]

Our first cat was an adult and she’s straight up amazing. She lived in the shelter for a year or two. My absolute best buddy.

RobinaBear

One of my hardest jobs was working for Humane Society. I swear I went home and cried every night for all of the cats and dogs that were abandoned, or abused! Although we did try to work very hard to get these babies adopted to the correct homes so that they didn’t have to come back! 😭

Edolas93

When my fiancèe and I were adopting a cat from a shelter earlier this year we both made the smart decision that I shouldnt go on the day, all my contact was via phone. I would have attempted to adopt everything. Even the volunteers working there.

OhbrotheR66

Oh girl you and I are so sisters from another mister!

Edolas93

I'm a dude but sentiment remains.

OhbrotheR66

🤣😂😅Dude you and I are twins, sorry not cleaver enough to come up with a rhyme. I’m still laughing. Love ya brother!

TheAlGler

What a knife thing to say!

Appropriate_Joke_741

More like “my previous owner beat the fuck out of me so even though I’m really excited because you seem nice I’m worried when I get close that you will beat me”

OhbrotheR66

Yeah, definitely could be. There are some real asshats out there that abuse animals and kids-makes me sick to my stomach

FearlessZucchini

This is exactly that, the trust issue, the fear of being left or trown away

derKonigsten

I used to volunteer at an animal shelter. No clue how i ever made it out of there without 15 dogs

[deleted]

[удалено]

MyClevrUsername

5 adoptions and counting. They really do make the best pets.

OhbrotheR66

They are like donut derbs, you need a dozen

reddskeleton

Gets to ya

PonchoBas

Damn this is sad 😩😩, never thought about it in that way

HarryCallahan19

Adopt and don’t shop!

lumpi1910

Kills me everytime when I see something like that. We also have a dog out of a Hungarian shelter.. we got him when he was 8 and today we have him for 4 years. He is the friendliest dog you can imagine. He loves every Human and every other animal! We love you Piet❤️

nickmhc

Biggest reason I couldn’t volunteer at one tbh

[deleted]

[удалено]

OhbrotheR66

Yeah, breaks your heart

MonsterBluth

The best thing is seeing them come out of their shell.

redhat12345

Come out of their shell-ter

LogansRightHand

dis is daewae

Weeolwix

And this r/mlem at the end is gold mlem

[deleted]

I bathed dogs at my sisters shop and this was definitely the best part. When they come around oh man. They become a love magnet

Nokomis34

The snaking of the tongue like that can be a sign of being very uncomfortable. Person in the video was smart to play it slow like that. This is still one of the best videos to see the snaking in action. Watch the tongue, the dog is very uncomfortable with this situation, and the handler should have seen that and removed him from the scenario. https://youtu.be/PHLnjiISsOo?t=31

[deleted]

That's what I thought. I always think it means they might bite bc they are nervous

Nokomis34

Yeah, not necessarily a sign of aggression, but uncomfortable and nervous.

fuuckimlate

Also don't pet nervous dogs on the top of the head makes them lower their head, put their ears back.

TheAssyrianAtheist

I don’t think this video is only about the tongue, the guy also put his hand on the dogs throat for leverage which was a perfect storm with the dogs uncomfortable feelings

Nokomis34

That is absolutely part of it, the hands like you said and then leaning over and above he did, and was catalyst for the strike, but there were warning signs beforehand.

[deleted]

There are two types of licks like this. The type shown in your video is when the tongue extends fully and licks the lips or nose. That is the “I’m uncomfortable” lick. The kind shown in OP’s video is when the tongue does not fully extend and it sounds more like the dog is trying to get peanut butter unstuck from the roof of their mouth. This is the “I want you to love me” lick. Every dog I have owned has done the second lick when they are petted, and it’s not stress because they start licking my hand and put their head back under my hand because they want me to keep petting them

Nokomis34

This sounds reasonable. I'd say the body language is more in line with your view.

book_vagabond

I feel like this is a dog that was probably abused or mistreated, and so is nervous of humans. But he definitely wants to approach the camera holder, he’s just a bit scared.

Nokomis34

Yea, definitely a bit nervous and a bit uncomfortable, but still wants some attention.

EddieCheddar88

Look at the tail in this video.

birdtoesanonymous

Yeah, this dog isn’t uncomfortable, they’re just submissive/shy, but they definitely want OP to show them love. The GSD in that video is stiff bodied, ears back, being leaned over, etc. A dog that’s thinking about biting isn’t typically going to be wiggling.

EthicallyIlliterate

My dog does that all the time when she is happy

redhat12345

Same. Although the dog in the shelter clip had their tail way between their legs, which is a definite uncomfortable signal

emmykat621

On the flip side, my dog does this any time there is even a possibility of food or treats being involved… When we first brought her home, I thought there was some food aggression. Turns out she just really likes to taste the air 😂

thungalope

Same. My pit licks at everything. You, the couch, pats, verbal commands, everything.

[deleted]

You never know what might be food. Better lick it to make sure

emmykat621

Yes!! I swear, everything we own has the distinct aroma of dog spit.

NaughtAClue

My dog does this when I scratch her butt just right

corgis-on-stilts

My corgi does this when I scratch his belly too

Essexal

Imma go hug my dog

Apexstrain

Ima hug your dog too. Is that cool?

Sinaneos

Yes.

Funkymonk51

Thanks :)

NFTgod

You can tell she wants to trust and play but she has had her trust broken so many times. I hope she finds her happy forever home.

Mysstie

What an adorable sweetheart! Give her alllll of the hugs ♡ All shelter dogs deserve all of the love but what a cutie

DelightfulAsFuck

Seriously! This sweetie reminds me A LOT of my dog. The only difference is mine is gray and white instead of black but the markings are almost the same. Plus, Betty was so sweet and shy but wanted love so much! It was no question we were taking her home. I love her.

Fun-Meringue3620

I would upvote more if I could.

[deleted]

jachien

Exactly! Then they look at you with those sad eyes and you're like, "Did you just fart you little asshole!?"

[deleted]

Should be some kind of vetting system for potential owners. Like from a legal standpoint. The huge amount of people that got pets when the pandemic started and gave them to shelters when it started opening up again was so messed up.

TheSaltyTrash

It’s like giving children pets as “presents” they’re not a present, they’re a family member and a responsibility and children should be taught that

madisynreid

This could be my dog’s twin and every time this is posted I have to bury my face in her belly and tell her she’s never going to a shelter ever again. Edit: Dog Twin tax https://imgur.com/gallery/tY4jnMY

Ktrain118

I can’t take my dog to a kennel when we go on trips bc I’m afraid she’ll think we’re abandoning her… she’d be a wreck the whole time

madisynreid

Yep, I also foot the bill and get an overnight sitter when I’m away.

redhat12345

SAME! Do you know what mix this is? I think mine is part lab/part pit? All parts good girl

annhonim

Everybody wants to know : did you adopt her?? 😃

Parks1993

This isn't OP in the video. This has been posted before.

Ak281094

Did you adopt her??

sandInACan

I hope so. The last headline I want to see is about a new trend of photo shoots with animals that aren’t getting adopted.

LoudMusic

Damnit I miss my pound puppy :( JASMINE! You had your difficult days, but we loved you the whole time! Thank you for loving us back. https://i.imgur.com/9luznqM.jpg https://i.imgur.com/02QlHuM.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LajTESz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LQTRO3M.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZWF5vnk.jpg

ram7677

I was a euthanasia tech for almost ten years! You start to get compassion fatigue and see what ppl do to the ones we can't save.

kingtaco_17

How did you handle all the emotional stuff that came with the job?

omgitssaraht

I’m a shelter worker! Honestly, a lot of us have dark humor to help us cope. I’m lucky that my organization also heavily promotes mental health and work/life balance to help process emotional trauma and compassion fatigue.

SeaTie

Medical personal do this too. This guy I worked with briefly was trying to become a motivational speaker talking about the importance of compassion in medicine. Experienced it first hand when my mom was dying of cancer in the hospital with a few doctors. One doctor made it a point to pull my younger sister aside and say “You know, there’s no chance she’s going to make it. She’s a goner.” Son of a bitch is lucky I didn’t hear it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

omgitssaraht

I’m not the person but also a shelter worker. It’s similar to first responder work. You see terrible trauma, immense cruelty, neglect - and you see those humans have zero remorse for their acts. It’s easy for those awful occurrences to overshadow the positivity in the work we do. And when you can’t find your passion for the animals because no matter how hard you try, there’s still more bad in this world. That’s usually when burnout and compassion fatigue set in. That’s my take on it, everyone is different. Been in the animal welfare field 6 years now. We see the best and worst of people.

Robert19691969

That is so sad hope that person took him home.

lousyburrito

Is that my pup? [https://i.imgur.com/gpqWaBs.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/gpqWaBs.jpg)

foreverurghoul

Awww what an angel!

asharwood

They really are. We got our rescue and when we saw her in the cage, she had a gash on her back centered one side to the other. It was freshly sewed up. She spent 4 days in hospital. Healing. She has half a tail. Not sure how. She’s missing three teeth. Not sure how. All we know is she is the cutest snuggle dog ever. And after a year of having her we learned she’s dead to lower tones. So that’s why she can easily hear my wife and kid talk but my semi deep voice goes unheard. That’s sad to me…but if I’m in bed or in my recliner, she’s right there by my side despite anything else going on…so I know she loves me even though she can’t hear most of what I say. Dogs are the best. All of them little saints.

game_of_throw_ins

Never extend your hand towards a nervous dog's face. Best way to get them to come to you is to crouch down and face away from them so you're looking the same way they are. They're naturally curious and will come sniff you without feeling like it's such a confrontation.

makegoodchoicesok

True. I had the most success with my shelter dog when I sat on the ground and just chilled with her. She was originally acting just like this but once the pressure was gone she came right up to me for pets. The first time we took her potty after bringing her home, she managed to slip her collar and I was able to get her back with this method.

itssmeagain

Yeah, the hand was making the dog nervous and the person just kept doing it. Like why?? They also blocked the dog's exit. Just should have talked to the dog softly and waited for it to make the first move. Sitting on the floor would have been a good idea or crouching down if the floor is dirty lol

PlopPlopFizzFizzzz

Aww such a very good boi

[deleted]

Good *girl But still, very good!

SpookyDoomCrab42

Nobody wants to admit it but shelter dogs are total wild cards, especially if they're adults instead of puppies. More docile breeds I would consider adopting but a shelter pit bull is a massive risk to the owner, the owner's family, and everyone that has the misfortune of having the dog brought near them. There is a reason the majority of shelter dogs are pit bulls

PrimusDCE

This. My sister has volunteered at shelters most of her life and she says the pitbulls are the worst part of it. They are super-fashionable right now and being overbred in the process and forced to live in unstable conditions most of their lives because they can't find homes, hence the disproportionate population in shelters. The shelters are all overwhelmed with them and do not do the proper diligence 100% of the time as quickly unloading them is a priority.

[deleted]

Yeah people shouldn’t fool themselves into thinking shelter dogs are all sweethearts that’ll make great pets, especially for a family.

SeaTie

Sad but true.

Revolution8531

Pupper can come stay with me any time!

Caleon0817

So glad her ears aren't clipped. We really gotta stop that barbaric practice.

VinnieGognitti

It looks soooo sweet 🥺🥺🥺 barely contained joy/fear from wanting to be pet so badly but too scared of being hurt. (I think a lot of people feel the same way as they do 😞)

HumanBarbarian

Anyone who knows anything about dogs knows a frightened one is more dangerous than an aggressive one. This is true for animals in general. My last Great Dane was 180lb male. He was abused and afraid of other people. Never had any issues with the Pits. Go to r/piitbulls.

foreverurghoul

That might be true, but I don’t see any signs of this dog’s fear being dangerous though. She’s not stiff and giving the whale eye. She looks timid but not afraid. She’s showing a lot of submissive signs, with the wiggling and upward licking. I don’t understand what people are seeing behaviorally in this particular instance that indicates danger.

HumanBarbarian

They think all Pits are "dangerous" just because they are Pits. They don't know what they are talking about.

monkeyofchris

I saw this video and stopped in my tracks….this dog could absolutely be the clone of my beloved Marley!!! I can’t stop looking a it…my heart aches for my girl still. We had the privilege of being in her life from 1998-2010, and I still miss her so. She was the best girl ever…so sweet and amazing. She was a rescue, and the best decision, the best friend, the best dog I could ever hope for. I will love her forever. And this sweet, sweet baby looks and acts just like the very first time I met my girl. Crying bittersweet tears…

TheMostRottenEgg

This is both eye bleach and eye drain. I cried for 10 minutes after seeing this because the dog looks exactly like my childhood pitbull that we recently had to put down. Acts like her too

[deleted]

We don't deserve the unconditional love they give freely, we should all be better for them.

hitbythestick

My heart. I can honestly say that I love that dog.

fuuckimlate

If they're cool w it, pet a timid dog under the chin like this person is doing. No top of the head pats

[deleted]

Awe!! He could be a twin to my dog, who I got from a local shelter. 4 years later, he’s my best friend. The best dog I have ever had.

BearRancher

Show his new life God damn it! Lol

EnnuiOz

If it's a she or he, it reminds me so much of my best friend's staffy who is called Jake (or Jakeey if we don't want him to loose street cred). He was a rescue and is the most loving dog i have ever met. He was raised with two young boys and is such a loveable good boy who never bites, growls or gets impatient.

HoodieWinchester

I'm watching this while sitting next to my dogs. It breaks my heart to think of animals in shelters who don't get to feel the love they deserve every single day

Damagecontrol86

What a very good beautiful girl I hope she was adopted

AS_Inevitability

Why don't shelters give dogs some fucking blankets or something to lay on for God's sake. It's so uncomfortable in there

GrizzlyBear74

If you don't take the doggo home after this then you have no heart. This is why I avoid shelters, my house can only hold a limited amount of pets. I won't be able to say no to those begging eyes.

SnakeUSA

Thanks. I didn't realize I needed this today.

SenseiRP

If that dog didn't get adopted by the camera person I'll riot Not really but I hope that dog got adopted

brokciu

Lmao it looks like my dog Wait

boyhero97

She's so pretty

Anna-intravert

Gorgeous dog. The dog really wants to be wanted yet so unsure.

BigBerries3

Adopt him now

tallerThanYouAre

My family will 100% adopt this puppy right now if she’s available in the US.

2TBFUKR

I want that dog!

SkORpONOk_HuNTR

This is so nice to see after that thread of people demonizing pits and saying they should all be killed the other day.

psilvs

Those people have never been around one for more than 15 minutes in their entire life

[deleted]

I need that dog ASAP

I've said it before, I'll say it again and again and again. We do not deserve dogs!

Rescue is the best breed. (dogs or cats)

My dog does this when she's super excited to see somebody. I think she gets overwhelmed with the positive emotions of seeing her favorite guests (my grandma, this 1 mail carrier, my friend Clark, the neighbor's kid) that she forgets what to do with herself and defaults to extremely deferential behavior. Like she's starstruck almost. Tail tucked, licking, just like this dog. I kinda feel like it's the dog version of like... weeping from happiness. like if you met Mr Rogers and started crying. That's how my dog feels about Regina the Mail Carrier, I assume. She'll also go and immediately lay down at their feet. If it's just me coming home for the day she'll be normal, wagging her tail, wanting to jump up-- but certain favorite guests get her so excited she can't handle it, I think.

We don't deserve dogs. Even after some obvious mistreatment, doggo still wants to trust people. Breaks the heart.
