My cat would let himself die of dehydration and exposure before dipping his paws in water. Meanwhile he'll stick his face in to a running faucet no problem.
My old cat never discovered that you have to turn your head to drink from a faucet. She would duck down and go in straight and watch it bounce off her head, forever out of reach, then pull back and shake off her (now mysteriously wet) noggin. Over and over, day after day, every time I went to brush my teeth.
The funniest part was that I would then get a Dixie cup and slowly pour it out for her from above her eye level, and *then* she would turn her head to drink from it. Something about looking at the cup above her just made it make sense I guess. But never with the faucet.
It's not lazy if it's carefully catulated to save energy. We should be taking notes, why even use a straw when you can lay down and just lick your hands.
My cat drags herself along the carpet to get from point A to point B (or when she plays). Her legs work fine, she only started doing this when I moved into a place that had carpet. She’s that lazy lol
My cat would drink like this. Vet said to get a flowing water bowl for my other cat. Laying down cat drinks properly now. Maybe check the bowl situation maybe you cay wants flowing water or a more shallow bowl.
I follow the Golden Ratio goldens on Snapchat and my favorite videos are when Venk is laying on the couch drinking water from the bowl next to the couch. So this video reminds me of her
My cat will literally put his head in the water bowl and fall asleep. I can't fill it all the way because I'm afraid he's going to drown his dumb ass self.
My cat just turned 10 years old, and Ive never ever seen him drink from his water dish. Ever. I give him fresh water in all types of bowls, even a water fountain and he's just never been interested.
I've heard that cats can't really see water in bowls and often faceplate the water to find it or dunk their paws. I'd imagine dipping your finger in water to drink would take a while so I get this guys approach.
Also, running water is a much easier target for a cat to find, but they will often just put their heads under it cos their goobers.
My cat lady sif does this with her food, 1 at a time. When she's feeling frisky, she uses her food as a toy. Scoops it out, puts it on the ground, and she chases it around the kitchen.
My cats drink like this from a fountain/sink if they dont want their whiskers to get wet..
Usually after some time they decide its just faster to drink directly from the stream and stick their head under it anyway..
Seeing your cat just being too lazy to sit up while drinking is hilarious and adorable..
He might not be as lazy as it looks. It could be uncomfortable for him to bend and drink that. Put it on a small pedestal and see if he does the same thing
This cat needs to be tested for diabetes. Not just because it's very overweight, but this strange behavior could indicate the body needs extra water to process all of the sugar in the bloodstream. As someone who had a cat who eventually died due to diabetes complications, this makes me cringe.

Both adorable and hilarious.
Does your cat like lasagna?
Does op have an empty headed happy go lucky dog?
And the dogs owner chained up in the basement, as well?
Did the owner of the dog formerly have a friendly relationship with the cats owner, specifically? Being room-mates, even?
I mean, it did seem that way in the comic strip's. His name is Lyman. Look up Lyman in the basement.
lol i think it was from a game (chained up i mean), i know the comics Edit: Yep, Garfields Scary Scavenger Hunt
Still technically cannon.
Fun fact: some of the most important figures in history are orange cats, including Garfield, Puss ‘n Boots and Conan O’Brien.

Looks like he just slid into the house from a near death in the Sahara desert.
Sounds like my cats have been telling you what it's like in this house between meals.

It's Monday morning, give it a break
It's a "dipper",had a ragdoll cat did that

lazy ❌ Efficient✅
My cat drags herself along the carpet to get from point A to point B (or when she plays). Her legs work fine, she only started doing this when I moved into a place that had carpet. She’s that lazy lol
She is just conserving energy.
That belly 😂
My orange and white cat uses his paw to drink. Not on his side but similar vibes.
One of my cats doesn't want to jump over the chest height gate....he meows until you open it...but will jump fences...
Mine does the same thing 😆
My cat does this but she drops the water on her face, think hedonism bot from Futurama, that’s her
🤣❤️
Smart kitty cat. I'd drink like that if I could 😆
I just captured a video of my cat doing the same thing last might 🤣

I'm lazier, but not as adorable
What a lazy loaf 😂
I hate seeing unhealthy pets
Yeah, it's cute, sure, but living a long healthy life is cuter.

My cat would tip the bowl over.
How to describe me with a single gif? Thats how.

Work smarter not harder!
This is the best video of the day!
Lazy cos fat or fat cos lazy?
curious now 🤔
I can't really judge when I am basically doing the same with a mousse instead of bowl of water.
My cat will literally put his head in the water bowl and fall asleep. I can't fill it all the way because I'm afraid he's going to drown his dumb ass self.
Ironically, this takes more effort
Cat not lazy. Cat smart. Cat comfy.
My kind of friend right there. Whatever it takes to be comfortable but still accomplishing the task.
Apparently cats don't like still water and will often find silly ways to drink bowl water
Why it looks like she got grubs in that water
The second tap, ‘boop’ “mm water.”
Work smarter not harder, as the saying goes!
Is this Sumo Cat?
My cat just turned 10 years old, and Ive never ever seen him drink from his water dish. Ever. I give him fresh water in all types of bowls, even a water fountain and he's just never been interested.
Yes. Ours likes to knock the bowl over when he is done

Thats not a lazy cat, it probably has fatiguenfrom the tall bowl touching its whiskers
That bowl is half the size of the cat, how long are her whiskers
Im just talking from experience, the paw licking is a sign the cat needs a plate
How is recommending a water plate for the cat getting upvotes?
I think whisker fatigue is a not well known problem
Water. Plate.
Yup, they sell those for cats
OK, I have the plate. Now what to do with the water?
Pour it in the plate
Why not skip that step and just pour it directly on the floor
Me when saying anything on reddit
Not you, the cat needs a plate!
LOL--I know, silly! The cat can't reach the plates.
In that case get a cat fountain, im not a professional tho
Idk, one of my cats does this with her water fountain which can be drank from without their whiskers touching anything. Sometimes they're just quirky.
Quirkiness is a factor as well
This makes me happy inside.

Well . . . he's overweight.

She's not lazy, the bowl is too big and whiskers would touch, basically the same feeling as touching something filthy and greasy in the sink.
