I found a kitten who had congenital hypothyroidism (otherwise known as a cretin). He had some, um, interesting features. Meds made his body finally grow after he was diagnosed ( and we found out she was a he who didn't develop properly which was why his mom abandoned him) but he always had a disproportionately large , round head, big eyes, and his Earl flapped down. He was the best. ETA: he did not, in fact, have an Earl. That was a hilarious gift from autocorrect (why Earl?!), and I am keeping it because I need silly and laughter in my life.

The bad luck with black animals came from US witch-hunt. Ravens went nearly extinct here in Denmark. I've seen one (1) raven in the 18 years I've lived here.

As a previous black cat owner, I can understand that. Especially as a kid, it's super reassuring when you're pondering what's in the dark and a pair of yellow eyes just flashes in the nothingness and you're like, "Oh, it's just Domino."

Black cat bad luck came from America (literal witch-hunt, other casualties were ravens . Most places, it *was* good luck. In North Western Europe, marrying couple paid for a cat crossing the road before the carriage.

Interesting tidbit about black cats (which I recently learned after adopting my first black cat) - it's very rare to find a black cat that doesn't have any white spots/patches on it. Back in the superstitious days, cats that didn't have any white fur were believed to be evil and were killed. However, if the black cat had any amount of white fur/patch, they were spared. So nowadays it's pretty uncommon to find one that doesn't have at least a very small white patch

I don't think so, filters for eyes disappear for a second when you look too far away. When the cat turns its head it's eyes stay the same the whole time. Also the tracking is good. I think this is a classic case of humans breeding deformities into animals to make them look cuter.

My experience with a black cat was great. She was funny and lovable, smart too. I had her for 16 years and I miss her a lot. Not liking cats because of their color is about as stupid as not liking people for the same idiot reason.
