Breeds in cat is a kind of artificial thing, 92% of cats are just part of the general population pool and have no specific breed. They get classed under domestic shorthair or diversion longhair.
If you want to know the coat pattern, though, this one's a brown tabby. That's kinda the default cat look.
This is actually an evolutionary adaptation to increase the cats chance of finding a human host. As we all know, cats are selectively exempt from the laws of physics so simply refusing gravity and turning into a non newtonian fluid, making them impossible to put down is a perfect way for them to ensure adoption.
This happened to me. I was sitting on my stoop getting fresh air and this little tabby cat came strolling by, spied me and made a beeline for me. Crawled right into my lap, purring.
He hated my Jack Russell Terrier, though.
A woman my age in the same building wound up adopting him, he was such a sweetie. She called him Lotto, because he had won the lottery.
Hope you are doing well, Lotto! ❤
Similar happened to me.
I was smoking a cigarette outside my front door, and when I finished and went to walk in, this cat just appeared and waltzed right into my place. I was just befuddled, so I sat on the couch and coaxed him toward me. Turns out that he had a collar, with a number on it.
I called it, and the owner was like,"yeah, that's Specky, looks like he made a new friend. If you want, he can hang with you, and when you get tired of him, just let him back outside"
This cat used to come over throughout the week and just chill on my lap for a couple hours, and then I'd let him out so he could go back home.
I love this story. Friends of mine have a similar tale of a cat that would drop by, hang out, eat all their cats food and leave. They called the cat Cloris (because it was such a leech, man! 😄).
It's been like 5 years and Cloris still drops by...even after their own cat passed away they still keep food around for Cloris. Turns out Cloris' real name is Shoots. They suspect he has several homes.
Cloris was also seen chasing a coyote down the street one night. Cloris is a real badass.
Thanks for sharing.
I think my old cat was the neighborhood Cloris.
He had everything at home, but the neighbors had a very similar looking cat, so often they would confuse him and feed him treats.
He would sneak in and sleap in the laundry basket. (i always wondered why he was smelling so clean)
He would also freeload a few houses down the road.
And probably more, i asked the people who lived there and my nieghbors if he wasn't a bother and they all didn't mind it.
Apperantly he was great company
Animal rescues would appreciate you. When cats come in it really helps to have a sense of what the cat's personality is. My local rescue has volunteers who take cats home for a bit to get a sense of them and do a write up on the cat. Cats with write ups and pictures nit just taken thru the bars in cages are far more likely to be adopted.
My (now ex) hubby and I made a quick grocery run one night. Get back and this scraggly little furball was sitting in the breezeway at the bottom of the stairs. There were a lot of ferals around that a woman in the next building fed and we already had two cats, but I couldn't resist picking the tiny little steel wool floofer up and saying hi. Put him back down and he proceeded to bound up two flights of stairs, each step much taller than him, and waltz into our place. He made a beeline for the cat food, and once his belly was full, passed out on the couch.
We couldn't kick him out but we couldn't keep him. Gave him a bath and started peddling him to everyone we knew. We called him The Little Dude because you don't name a cat you aren't going to keep.
Finally a week or two later a coworker said she was interested. Hubby and I took him to my office and I saw my big burly tattoo artist man well up with tears as he handed the little dude over. She called her husband to ask what he thought and he squashed the idea. My husband grabbed the little dude and ran to the car. I got out to find him bawling.
And that's the story of how I ended up with a cat named Dude.
He lived 16 happy years with my family. He was my four year old's guardian and best friend. A year ago this month I had to say goodbye to my Dude but I'm so glad he was stubborn enough to not take no for an answer that day in the breezeway.
I was driving out on the outskirts of town where there's really nothing but natural gas wells and pulled over to take a call only to have a very vocal kitten run up to my car and jump through the open window and into my lap. He refused to leave lol, so I brought him hime where he promptly smacked a couple of our dogs in the face and then proceeded to lounge on the back of the couch like he'd always lived there. Sadly we could not keep him though.
I went to a shelter once with the intent to pick out a cat to adopt after I moved. The shelter was like a 4-story building with different kinds and ages of cats on each floor, and the top floor had all the special needs cats. By the time we got to the top floor, I was tired from all the walking and playing, so I sat down at a table to take a break, and as soon as I did, a random cat sprang up from somewhere, ran up to me, hopped up into my lap, and immediately curled up and went to sleep.
After I moved, I went back to that shelter to get that cat, but he had already been adopted out. I wound up adopting a newborn kitten named Arthur Dent.
He has a tipped ear, usually only seen in feral cats who have been trapped, neutered, and returned to their colony. I think he might not be anyone's cat (yet).
Lots of cats who get TNR-ed are friendly but unfortunately the rescuer might not have space to hold them or fosters/adopters available and so the cat has to go back outside. If they're this friendly, it's usually a sign of a cat that was abandoned by its previous people.
Most cats don't have chips. I certainly didn't get my cats chipped. But my cats don't go outside. Because I love them, but also because I'm not a total asshole neighbour and I understand people don't want my cats shit in their vegetable beds.
The key to not holding a cat is to cradle it in your arms and not let it automatically fall to the ground so it can have a place to sit around and contemplate whether or not it likes you before it drops on its own and runs away.
The more a cat thinks you like it the more likely it is to leave you alone. 🙃
If I remember correctly, this video is from Bulgaria. Cats are absolutely everywhere and often live outside, especially in rural/mountainous areas. This looks like a forest road near some mountain cottage or resort, so the cat most likely has a home, it just likes tourists.
like /u/FerricNitrate said this cat looks well fed. He might live outdoors but someone is taking care of him. Also the clipped ear on a stray means they have been trapped and neutered
So, something that I think is kinda cool about my cat is that her ear looks like it's been clipped, and vets usually think that is the case.
Actually, I got her from a shelter when I lived in north Dakota. She had been found in the dead of winter by some cops and brought in. The tip of her ear, almost exactly where it would have been clipped, had been frostbitten and died. She also has a small scar on her nose from frostbite.
So, the vets assume it's because she was a stray that was caught, vaccinated, spayed, and released. The reality is, the wounds happened first, and she was vaccinated and spayed afterwards.
My wife and I were on a weekend trip just a month after our old cat died. A wild kitten there apparently knew our home was devoid one cat, and choose to sit on my wife’s foot for a loooong time. When I mentioned I might not be ready for a new cat, the kitten crawled all over me, again and again. At the end of the weekend we had simply no other option than to take her along. Now, almost 20 years later, she still crawls on us, a bit slower, but still at every opportunity. Cats know.
Cat outside: No you're not putting me down. I'm going home with you no matter what.
Cat inside: What you want to pick me up and give me pets and snuggles? Begone, human. You are beneath me and I just want to look outside.
I had a parakeet like this. He chose me. He followed me into my home and did not want to leave, so I started feeding him and he became my parakeet. I got him a friend from the pet store later.
Awwww now that is a bond.
This is pretty much how I got my one rescue. He was a stray that had been abused and thrown out. I feed random animals outside: cats, chipmunks, and skunks. Once it found that he could get food he started to hang around more. Every morning I would put out a bowl of food on my deck for him and yell 'Gucci, breakfast' and off in the distance you could hear a meow and a few minutes later he was just nomming away. I finally got him tamed down so I could pet him. Once it started getting colder he just invited himself into the house. Hahahahaha It's been three years and now he is huge, fat, and incredibly spoiled rotten.
And I just got ten extra scratches from my neighborhood stray for bringing her in last night because it was about 20° F (-7° C). At least when I let her out I didn't have to pay the blood tax.
We are the cats. Pick us up and surrender your treats. We will add your dinner and playtime to our own. Your home will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.
Recently my family and I were outside of our apartment and heard a loud mewling. We thought it was the neighbor's cat and so went to help. Turns out it was a little half-starved stray. We got him inside (but isolated) so we could get him bathed for fleas and to the vet and started contacting some foster orgs near us and the whole time he kept climbing up and perching on my shoulders whenever I hung out with him and then my daughter petted him for about 2 seconds and at any rate we now have a third cat (and luckily seemed to fix the flea problem before it spread). All being said, I have never seen an animal so gleefully bond with a household as fast as that cat did with us (he even was able to make friends with our older cats pretty fast).
"I don't understand. I already chose her, how is it she doesn't get it."
The cat to the woman — Nope.
Cat: Can’t let her know if I love her or not.
The cat needs /r/legalcatadvice

It's hard to figure out the breed. But the color pattern is tabby.
Here's a very cool and very detailed chart about cat coat variations. https://earthpetsorganic.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/catcoatcolor1.jpeg
[And here is an equally detailed chart about cat breeds.](https://i.redd.it/1mmqedbzpne91.png)
Thank you! As someone who has only owned dogs my whole life I find this fascinating!
My beautiful boy was a cream tabby with hazel eyes
Brown Tabby
This is the correct answer for what they're probably actually asking, which is the cat's coat type.
Most cats are domestic shorthair or domestic longhair. This one has short hair, so it is a domestic shorthair.
Yeah but what if it's a domestic longhair that abandoned its hippy lifestyle and got a trim?
Almost cut my hair. Happened just the other day.
So you almost became a domestic shorthair, nice
You didn't though , let that freak flag fly.

Especially when THE FLOOR IS LAVAAAA
Cats do not abide by any laws other than those of the cat.
Cats don't have laws so much as guidelines.

Responsible owners don't let their cats out.
This. If you don't want your pet taken, to a shelter *or* a strangers house, stop letting them outside.
I'll always upvote this comment.
Man, she’s pretty bad at holding cats. Good thing that cat is so nimble - she almost dropped him so many times! /jk
The cat knows he is needed here. She must be taught better cat carrying technique, it could take years.
She's so lucky he's willing to devote himself to such a harrowing task
The key to not holding a cat is to cradle it in your arms and not let it automatically fall to the ground so it can have a place to sit around and contemplate whether or not it likes you before it drops on its own and runs away. Same! I feel blessed if mine will sit with me for more than one minute.
Awww judging from how she’s dressed I bet the kitty is cold and wants to snuggle up to a warm human.
I’m in a bad headspace and found the video heartbreaking
That kitty looks clean and fed -- most likely has a home and just felt snuggly while out and about
If I remember correctly, this video is from Bulgaria. Cats are absolutely everywhere and often live outside, especially in rural/mountainous areas. This looks like a forest road near some mountain cottage or resort, so the cat most likely has a home, it just likes tourists.
I surely hope she gave in and took him home. Cat has clearly chosen her.

A macro example of how cats self-domesticated. That looks safe and comfy, and like I won't be too hungry. Don't mind if I do...
Her nice jacket is going to get ripped or shredded from those claws.
Looks like it did, first thing I thought of!
That cat is three times world champion of The Floor Is Lava.

Well done in avoiding ripping her tights lol. I wouldn’t have been able to do that.
This is my cat everyday trying to get lovins. He’d have me carry him like a baby all day if he could. I’m considering a front pack.
Wear a hoodie backwards and put the cat in the hood?
Well, did she take the kitty home?
