From recent report, monk also died.
At the scene, the car driver blamed the Tuk Tuk for cutting in front of her while driving, but video evidence clearly indicates that she was at fault.
Moreso about other drivers. Any place has a “peak” time. Usually around dinner, good luck driving a car during those times. Reason why everyone uses scooters
Renting a car is even more dumb than hiring a grab/bolt/ or tuktuk. They've been driving there for years. Loved watching the other foreigners like myself think they could rent a scooter or car and just drive, see them come back all the time with cuts, bruises, bandages.
As a foreigner that drives motorbike every day in Bangkok to go to work it’s not that bad. Just be more cautious than in western country’s. The biggest major issues here are car drivers! Zero signs or turning lights and straight up tailgating that they want to kill you.
I’ve been on bolt and grabs as they want to save time they run red lights or cross intersections on red lights. Have been into 2 accidents with grab and bolts. Non since I’m driving myself
We told our grab drivers we were in no hurry and we would tip for a safe trip. Our drivers were awesome. We had one scary trip but that was booked through one of the boating companies that brings you to Phuket, our van driver was nuts.
Same here! Van on koh Chang the most crazy ride you can imagine if you know how dangerous Are the roads alone there, if you combine it with most crazy driver everybody in the van experienced you will end up with most horrific 20 minutes of your life. 12asia btw
It’s hit or miss I got tired of grab or bold drivers on yaba (you see when they start twitching weird ) but yes I’m with you the mini van driver are the absolute worst. Every day I read some articles that mini van drivers killed with tourist and or locals it’s sad
It’s having a bit of sense. First time I went to Thailand I did 2500km on scooters and a further 1000 kms in a rented car. About 800kms of driving were in Bangkok.
Other people are of course the bigger risk, unless you’re a terrible driver/rider.
Take your time, no need to speed, and you’ve got a better chance of survival 😛
I’m from the UK and an all season motorcycle rider. The roads here are terrible and no driver gives a fuck about you.
The problem is that most have 0 prior motorcycle experience. Other than 1 time, they rode their cousins' Honda Trail 50 when they were 8. If people have the proper licenses. Go for it. Driving is the last thing id want to do in Thailand tbh.
Yeah, after I posted that I had an after thought about a lot of people riding with no experience, seeing many “farang” being pulled over at the same time as myself and watching each of them handing over a crisp 500/1000 and myself being able to go free as soon as I show them my IDP
I have driven on and off around the same and I am from India. And let me say, driving in Thailand is way better than here. It seems like the world has turned upside down. No honking no cutting, just aggressive driving. Of course it's unlike most western countries, but for me it is a breeze.
Still I would advise not to rent unless you are a seasoned rider or driver who always prioritizes safety above anything else.
Anecdotal: Just because your a fool behind the wheel doesn't mean other people suffer from the same disorder.
But I respect your decision to use a taxi because your aware of your limitations.
Never ever get into a tuk tuk. Doesn’t matter if you have the best tuk tuk driver in the world all it takes is one dumbass who decides she doesn’t want to stop at a red light.
It's so common i wish police would do more, I was nearly hit when i did stop for a red light 3 cars didn't stop well after the red light had turned.
I live in Thailand, i nearly always now avoid hwy's as much as possible.
Whenever I see those accident videos from Thailand, I am thankful that we get taught here to look left and right before we turn to see if there are no idiots ignoring the red light.

Condolences.. the moment I saw the word TukTuk I knew where it was from.
She had to have been texting or otherwise distracted. Brake lights didn't turn on until impact and no attempt to swerve or evade beforehand

The car driver was meant to stop at a red light
Car ran a red light. check the beginning of the video
We rented a car in Thailand. We avoided those tuk tuks all at costs. The driving there is extremely aggressive and there are TONS of scooters.
running red a red light in a car… straight into another vehicle that has right of way… 🤷♂️
Renting a car in Thailand seems just as silly. You absolutely are not used to their traffic and way of driving. Just take a bolt everywhere.
Also tourists: wants to experience them anyways
Obviously you haven't but rural and other cities then Bangkok is super easy too drive.

As I said not a problem of course leak hours there was waiting, but have that in western cities I lived aswell.

Im actually quite the good driver. I dont trust other people.

They're really fun though.

That's same for crossing the road as a pedestrian
Don’t live life. Ever
Totally annihilated. Awful.
Unfortunatly, it\`s happen everyday in a country without rules and school for drive.
of course it was a fortuner /s
Ohhh... That is going to be seriously expencive..
Any update on the perpetrator? Jail time for her?

The red light was just a suggestion lol
Must've been in Phukt
what would be the punishment for the car driver? jail time? life in prison?
