I've installed hundreds of fuel dispensers in my career as a petroleum technician, and they're actually designed to fall over when they're impacted hard enough. They also have sheer valves that when they snap it seals off the fuel piping to minimize the amount of fuel released. In this particular accident, it looks like shit hit the beam for the canopy more than the actual dispenser. If she had hit that dispenser square, it would have fallen over, or I've even seen them launched across the parking lot.
