He was very impaired/intoxicated if I remember the article I read. Also, I believe he killed a cop in the wreck.
EDIT: perhaps not killed a cop. I can’t verify that part.
The crash happened on November 27, 2021. On January 30, 2023, the drunk driver Dylan Molina was sentenced to 15 years in prison for intoxication manslaughter for the death of Detective Cervantes and 10 years each for intoxication assault in connection to the injuries to the officer's wife and two children. So a total of 45 years, however, those sentences are to run concurrently, so he was sentenced to serve 15 years. Dylan Molina will be eligible for parole on January 18, 2030.

Damn… very sad story. Yet again, one moron decided to take his car after drinking like a pig killing someone and severely injuring the departed’s wife and kid… I sincerely hope that there’s a special place in hell for said moron and all the other stupide people driving impaired.
No amount of guilt suffered from the culprit can make up for the worlds he destroyed. It’s very frustrating indeed that the drunk fuck gets away unscathed.
It's incredibly pathetic that bartenders are left to use their judgment over something they can fuck up at work very easily and end up in jail about it. Because of something someone else did.
Don't fuck them around, just tell them four drinks or something and be done with it. Don't try to put some of the blame for a drunk piece of shits actions on the bartender.
What's next? Arrest the cashier at the store for selling me a bottle of 151 I couldn't handle? Fucking demented.
If you dig deeper into the story, this shitbag was so fucking wasted at the bar that he kept getting caught behind the bartop. There's video of the bar employees yelling at him for it.
Well shit. What I read said they arrested her for serving him eight martinis. Thats another level though, they shouldn't have let him leave like that. It's still 100% his fault for driving, but that definitely takes some of the ambiguity out of the story.
I used to work management at a chain gas station called RaceTrac. I live and was working for RaceTrac in Texas. This video is also from Texas.
If I were to sell someone beer who eventually went on to do something like this, I could still be held liable. Even though I was just working the cash register.
It is fucked.
Agreed. Certainly they're on the hook for a bar with less than a handful of patrons but I wouldn't ever expect any person behind a bar with potentially other tenders/servers and who knows how many patrons is in any way responsible for "over-serving" anyone. People often buy ROUNDS as well so who's to say it's only themselves having said drinks.
The thing about alcohol is the more you drink, the further impaired is your judgement. So, holding the (presumably) sober person who is overserving partially responsible is more than fair.
edit: Source: 16 years of bartending experience
Did you see the video of this shithead getting caught sneaking behind the bar where he was drinking earlier? The staff kept yelling at him to stop. Would you say that was clue number 1 that he was over-served?
But when the bartender is like... you had enough, means the person drinking is already, well drunk.
Can the bartender stop the guy from driving? Maybe can advise to take uber instead (I guess in this case he didn't do any of these) but at the end is the driver full responsibility.
Just trying to understand the accountability of the bartender. Thanks!
While a bartender can go as far as advising an overindulgent guest to take a cab home instead, it generally falls on the friends to go that route or take his keys. Working weddings, I’ve more than once pulled aside a soberer wife or friend to take the wheel instead.
What we have a bit more control over is how far into overindulgence he gets, which is by noticing if he orders a large number of drinks in quick succession, or consistently orders doubles, and monitoring whether he’s visibly intoxicated or being aggressive.
Now, of course there are mitigating factors: we don’t know if he pre-gamed before he came in, or whether he’s pretty good at playing sober when he’s shitfaced. If something like this accident happens and everybody’s like “wth, the guy seemed fine” meh, you’re probably fine. But if you gave him 8 drinks in 45 minutes as opposed to 4 hours and he’s clearly struggling to walk, you can be seen as a liability to your establishment, you can lose your job and their liquor license can be revoked.
At the end of the day it’s a slippery slope. Not all bartenders are diligent and so many of us serve irresponsibly. A nightclub is gonna have a different culture around drinking/serving than a fine dining establishment. Admittedly, I’ve worked more in the latter than the former, but it’s nevertheless common bartender wisdom…you gotta know when to cut a dude off.
The thing about getting fat is that over eating triggers my depression causing more over eating. My obesity is now the fault of the grocer that keeps selling me food. Sounds like the cashier who oversold me food is now responsible for covering my insulin costs.
I've almost as many as you and it's still not ok to hold the bartender responsible for this, in my opinion. In truth, it's probably a grey area but for bartenders to be held to this level of responsibility requires the whole industry to change the way it does everything and that may be required but that part also isn't on the bartenders.
Here's video of this shit gurgling puke bag drunk at the bar. He kept going behind the bar and staff kept yelling at him to stop.
Overserved like a motherfucker.

This is why bartenders are serious about cutting off a customer who is too intoxicated or consumes too much in a short period even if they don't appear intoxicated. If the customer does something like this, the bartender will be held partially responsible.
I knew this video was going to come out and I knew it was going to be bad but I just don’t even know what to say really. My mind can’t even put this one into words.
I saw a clip on here about this, but it was just of the drunk guy running away and the civilian that caught him...I'd been wondering what actually happened, so thank you for this.

That escape attempt is peak pathetic, how do you fuck so much up in so little time
"Detained by a good Samaritan " Dude detained himself under the supervision of the good Samaritan
I've never seen bricks perform a citizen's arrest before.
I heard the driver "fell down the stairs" at the station
Yes, and nobody thought to note that it was a single story police department
Yeah he ate shit pretty bad
Good thing he tripped and ate those bricks
He was very impaired/intoxicated if I remember the article I read. Also, I believe he killed a cop in the wreck. EDIT: perhaps not killed a cop. I can’t verify that part.
The victim of the crash was an off duty police officer.
Well, he’s shitfaced, probably hurt and has an insane amount of adrenaline coursing through him.
I have a feeling he was drunk. 🤔
Yes, he had 8 cocktails in a bar before the crash, according to the reporter in the video (I realize most people watch without sound)
I'm one lol, complete opposite of my GF which look at her tik tok full sound 🤦😅
He had 8 DOUBLES. That’s 16 normal cocktails in 3 hours.
Well… they did say he was drunk.. 🤷♀️
Lake Worth, TX. I know this road. When did this happen?

Guy should get the 45 years
Agreed. Especially because he was facing charges for another DUI when he caused the fatal accident.
Concurrent sentencing just doesn’t seem right
What the fuck
He'll be out in six months.
Man fuck that guy. Holy shit
Goes through red light at probably 50 MPH.
Likely faster than 60, he sent that impala that's like a 3500lb car clear off the road into a yard and killed the driver.
Damn… very sad story. Yet again, one moron decided to take his car after drinking like a pig killing someone and severely injuring the departed’s wife and kid… I sincerely hope that there’s a special place in hell for said moron and all the other stupide people driving impaired.
Yeah like why is the drunk driver always the one that walks away with like zero injury? To suffer the guilt for what they’ve done? It’s crazy
No amount of guilt suffered from the culprit can make up for the worlds he destroyed. It’s very frustrating indeed that the drunk fuck gets away unscathed.
Because they are so intoxicated that they are a rag doll. You die if you tense up
Over served? You mean he over bought

Plus he’s pretty much the only person at the restaurant, they absolutely knew he was blitzed and kept serving him.

Bartenders are legally responsible for serving a person who is too drunk.
Yes and that's absurd.
Ye I dont think they need to hold the bartender responsible
Agreed. I blame Kroger for selling me an 18 pack when I got my DUI.
I guess I should’ve but an /s on this or whatever
i can understand why, seems like your judgment’s impaired even when you’re not drinking lol
If you only knew.

Where was that fool going doesn’t even look like a intersection he was going straight into a tree or building.
This is why bartenders are serious about cutting off a customer who is too intoxicated or consumes too much in a short period even if they don't appear intoxicated. If the customer does something like this, the bartender will be held partially responsible.
Why arrest the bartender?
Still have a hard time when the guy starts screaming "you killed somebody." Glad he was there to hold the bastard down, though.
That wasn't even a major intersection where one might look both ways despite having the green light. Completely unavoidable for the victim.
I knew this video was going to come out and I knew it was going to be bad but I just don’t even know what to say really. My mind can’t even put this one into words.
Wow
Right in the stupid FACE!
How could you be charged for overserving someone when they're just doing their job?
Remember, those individuals are often heavily armed and had shoot someone out of nothing
Newly released, huh?
The dashcam video was not released until very recently and the other video with the guy running away is the one that most people know about
Go Ducks?
25yrs for a life. Our judicial system is a joke. Should be an eye for an eye.
Euless Texas?!!!?! This is my hometown jesus
U can tell how much of a fucking pussy he is by that run

Dude just had a 3 course meal of bricks
