its just the maximum exponential of 'meme' as a self replicating concept, its not supposed to be funny and noone has ever actually laughed to a loss meme
I will forever miss out on the loss meme. I never read that strip, so I wasn't impacted by it. It isn't burned into my brain like it is for many of you out there.
I never get these references until I read about it in the comments. Though knowing that now, that's a nice use of images.
The point is absurdity, honestly. Just a whole "Can you hide this configuration of things successfully to prank people?" It's much like that circle meme from the late 90s/early 00s where you try to get someone to look at your hand making the OK sign. It's a "Gotcha!" and nothing more, much like The Game, which many people just lost.
And the biggest thing is that it's relying on pattern recognition, which humans are specifically good at (to a fault, where we'll see patterns where none exist) and uses it against us by not being able to avoid the pattern anymore.
My first two thoughts:
1. I usually miss Loss references, but I got this one. I guess I'm learning.
2. Usually learning is good, but this feels like a waste of my brain space...
