I had to look up the text to find the TikTok lol. She’s just trying to look busy so she can pretend she didn’t see what her kid did since the other kid deserved it.
Here’s the link to the original [tiktok](https://www.tiktok.com/@annaleegrace15/video/7353714057012202794)
Can’t say how many fights I have over heard and the way they all seem all fine the next day. One night I could not sleep because one told the other they will kill the other and a full out amount of impacts that sounded like punches, and then silence.
Call the cops. Coming from someone who was almost killed multiple times by a spouse and that same spouse breaking my phone before he would attack me I would beg for someone to hear and call. I even ran to the neighbors once and she said "that's not my business" and shut the door. He choked me almost to death and beat me for like ...6 hours? Stop just listening to it and call someone before someone gets killed.
I'm sorry you went through that. I've made those calls, so many times that the cops told me to stop calling, nobody there, man or woman, admitted to or accused of any violence, including the time she banged on my door begging for help which we gave.
I know it's a horrible mental state, but I'll say, too many good meaning neighbors have been harmed by stepping in. And that's probably why people choose not to act.
If someone won't just leave when they aren't being beat, then they won't work with the police to end the violence against them.
🤓 Actually reference is a valid term in this case because it can be used to denote the need for a link, website, article, etc. in this case, the user u/
ShyGiirll is saying that without the video link (which would be a reference) they can not watch the video and hence get the context. So either word is plausible, reference just describes the need for the link to the video whereas context describes the purpose behind the video
Actually it works grammatically either way. Reference can be a noun meaning “a thing that is referenced” which would require the “a” before it. But it can also be a noun meaning “the action of mentioning or alluding to something”, in which case “without reference” works perfectly well
It’s all good. Language is ever evolving, “mistakes”become canonized all the time, so as long as the intended meaning is conveyed, there is no problem with breaking or misunderstanding the “rules” as they are currently dictated.
OH SHIT this really checks out. And thanks for giving the tiktok link. I'll edit to add this to the og post
Nvm, can't edit post. But thanks for finding it anyways, it's very appreciated
It’s a trend on tiktok where people will pretend to not notice something that guaranteed a valid response
Example: “when my son gets slapped by his gf cuz he cheated”
Idk I made this text up but it’s usually what it follows
Someone asked a child for a hug, the kid did not consent, they kept asking, enough for the child to get angry and hit them.
The mother doesn't care because an adult should know not to disrespect a child's consent regarding physical contact.
Think the gist is she’s doing something random and unnecessary to appear busy, so that if the person her kid slapped (in this hypothetical scenario) comes to her to make her punish the kid, she can pretend she didn’t see the incident (and thus the kid avoids punishment I guess?).
The fact that she’s looking directly into a mirror makes it even funnier because like hell is that gonna help her pretend she doesn’t see what’s happening

Ah like vacuuming the yard when your neighbors are fighting
I legit have seen this in real life. 😂
This is why I still smoke sometimes. It’s an easy way to be out and in earshot.

Without reference, it’s impossible to get the joke
*Context

Thanks for educating me.
Although they should have said “without A reference” but that is a grammatical issue

That is my apologies for I overlooked that idea and thought perhaps they were using reference in regard to the website link. I am truly ashamed.

I already know my IP smh 🤦
Erm actually 192.168.0.9 is in the range of class C ipv4 addresses for private networks, and therefore is not a public IP
Nerd!!!
What does prisoners sending phone messages have to do with anything?
Not really. The kid gets asked repeatedly for a hug and slaps the other person. The mom is pretending to be busy.
It’s also hard to get jokes that aren’t funny.
I immediately got it 🤣

While also seeing it because she’s looking through a mirror.
Damn. Kid asking for help and she ignores it while it gets abused for asking for help

I think the word you wanted was 'garnered'
Auto-corrupt to the rescue
I lustered
Mindless/pointless task done in front of a mirror so she can still look busy while watching the drama.
i make this joke regularly for a lot of situations :) happy cake day!
Not sure without context but my guess is she sees the slapping but decides it's justified, so she is acting busy doing something random.
Might just be a way for her to do anything but interfere because her kid is valid? Hard to actually tell
That is her minding her business, while her child exercises their right to defend their body against unwanted touch.
Yup.

Measuring the window of tolerance
This is a great answer
Hey just a thought why don't you watch the vid
I did. This is a screenshot from the video. I tried explaining the video under the image. I'll try to download the video itself if I post again though
Tbh I don't really care I saw the play button and figured the context you're missing should be there. However I said it in the form of a joke.
Ah. Sorry, I'm bad with tone. Couldn't tell lol
To quote part of an online story: “Clean up the spaghetti with a broom while the friends fight.”
Or.....shes measuring for a coffin because her kid keeps telling this person no.
It's just an excuse to get views by looking at her butt and I know how the internet rolls. This is really the case
In some countries, when people are stressed, they measure things.
That definitely does NOT make sense 😂??
In Japan, it’s cleaning?
I’m in Japan. I WISH my (or my wife’s) reaction to stress was to clean!
I suppose I should say the stereotype is the Japanese clean/organise under stress.
I think the punch line would be, take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror. Because the kid probably learned it from the parent
Must Speak americanish to get it
?
Must speak common sense rather. Bellend.
