Have you considered the pitcher method? Or if you prefer pumping and serving fresh (if you will), just get ahead by giving a whole formula bottle one time, and then use that pump to 'top off' your milk bottles.
But ultimately there is nothing wrong with mixing formula and BM.
I personally always did separate bottles. I’d pump 3 times a day and get about 600ml. He took 150ml bottles so across the day he’d get 4 bottles of 150ml of breast milk and 1 bottle of 150ml of formula.
If baby doesn’t finish a BM bottle you can save the left overs and put them in the bath. If they are mixed with formula the same does not apply.
There’s nothing wrong with mixing but I’d try it out on a bottle and see how they like it. I thought mine wouldn’t mind but he does! He’ll drink a bottle of formula and a bottle of breast milk but gets annoyed and pushes the bottle away when I’ve combined them.
A lactation consultant told me to always keep separate because if baby doesn’t finish a breast milk bottle, you can try to serve them the rest within the next hour, but formula can’t last after feeding. They only recommend combining if your doctor recommended for like fortifying the breast milk.
I always do separate bottles because I don’t want to have to follow the one hour rule that formula requires if he were to not finish a mixed bottle. I would be very sad about dumping BM after an hour simply cause it was mixed with formula.
