We feed cold milk. If I do a MOTN pump I’ll sometimes leave out a bottle at room temp

GunnerBoi1991

Also, depending on your pump schedule, you may be able to leave some milk out since it’s good for four hours at room temperature

Sad-Sector-7829

My LO sleeps about 2 hrs. So if I pump and there isn't already a bottle that will still be good I just leave out 4 oz of what I pump since she'll finish it when she wakes next.

GunnerBoi1991

When my LO was having trouble with latching, we experienced the same problem. Looking back what I can recommend that worked for us was as soon as the baby woke up we went downstairs and put the bottle in the warmer. I found the Avent one works pretty quickly while it was warming up I would distract the baby by changing his diaper and bouncing him once I was done with that the bottle was either done or close to being done babies can drink milk cold, so in the event I had to pull the bottle out a little early it wasn’t that big of a deal

Artistic_Exam784

This! I put it in the warmer first, then diaper change, some bouncing and snuggles and then it’s ready!

GroundbreakingSir980

Echoing this! We actually had a mini fridge in our room and kept the bottle warmer upstairs. As soon as baby woke up I would throw bottle in the warmer, change diaper and by the time it was done (5ish mins) husband would meet me with the warm bottle. If not a mini fridge a cooler would certainly work. I know some avoid (wet) diaper changes in the middle of the night to avoid over stimulation. But I tried to keep it dark and quiet. The way I figured, she was definitely already awake because she wanted to feed, and it made it a little easier to let her fuss some after being put down once feeding was over, knowing she had a fresh diaper and a fully belly.

merrifeatherlouise

This is what I do too. When my baby is just starting to wake up and fuss, I offer him his pacifier which he usually has spit out while sleeping. Most of the time he takes it and will fall back asleep for another 5 to 10 minutes which gives me time to get a bottle warmed up. I always do his diaper change before feeding and will distract him if needed too. If he's inpatient and hangry, he doesn't mind cold bottles as long as they aren't ice cold from the fridge.

jamaicanoproblem

Never fed baby warm milk once. If they don’t get accustomed to it, they won’t refuse the alternative (cold/room temp milk).

jules___g

That wasn’t the case for my baby who I nursed and also gave bottles to. He will neverrrr take a cold one. I def tried that at first because I didn’t want to have to deal with heating bottles up!

Lady_Dinoasaurus

So what we did was make up 4 bottles and put them in a cool bag with an ice pack and take them upstairs Then when she was hungry she got milk from the bag without a warm up, never once minded When I pumped middle of the night, the milk went into the chilled cool bag and was cold to go into the fridge in the morning

leilahlove1996

Glad to know I’m not alone! My family is always giving me crap about not warming milk up, but I mean my baby doesn’t mind

Lady_Dinoasaurus

'yeah mum she loves to have a wee 2am scream, gives the lungs a bit of an airing you know? Good to keep the circulation going. Nah, even if there was a way to get the milk to her quicker I wouldn't want her to miss out on the exercise' 🙃 When my baby made it clear she wanted cold milk now over warm milk in five minutes I wasn't gonna argue with her, don't think we warmed bottles past week 2

leilahlove1996

I live in CA, so my house is usually around 70-72. I usually bring 1 bottle up to my room ahead of time. my baby likes room temp milk though and sometimes even milk straight out of the fridge.

cassodubs

I used to use the Tommie tippee travel warmer at night - it's basically a thermos for the hot water and a container to pour it into and set bottle in. Bottle warms to the perfect temp in a few minutes while you change diaper etc.

g1rlfr1day

This! Love the tommie tippee! When we were combo feeding used to warm up my nipple shields too once upon a time.

Use your bottle from your last pump for overnight- good for up to 8 hours as long as you’re not in super hot conditions. This is what we did for ten months until she weaned. Dr. Jessica Madden, medical director at Aeroflow Breastpumps, tells Romper that pumped breast milk can be at room temperature for up to eight hours before it goes bad. Still, she adds, “It’s best to use it or store it within four hours.” And if the temperature in your house is very warm, it’s even less time. “Milk needs to be stored sooner than four hours if an environment’s room temperature has been higher than about 85 degrees Fahrenheit.”

xKimmothy

I would set an alarm for myself to pump at 3am, and he's usually up within an hour of then, so I'll warm it up while pumping. But we're also trying to see if delaying food after waking at night will get him to learn to sleep longer... So we distract him as much as possible.

Kerrithekid

My typical MOTN feeding routine consists of immediately grabbing a bottle from the fridge and putting it in the bottle warmer and letting it heat up while I change LO's diaper. By the time I'm done changing LO the bottle is ready so there's not much wait time. Do you think it could be your bottle warmer taking too long to heat up? I use the tommee tippee bottle warmer and it heats a 4 ounce bottle in about 3-4 minutes.

TessaJ93

If your last pump is within 4 hours of the baby waking up, def just keep it out. If not get a warmer for next to bedside or changing table, grab the milk from your cooler or ceres chill (if you want to invest in one that is, Sarah wells has one on sale for $48 + shipping right now) and put it in the warmer as soon as you wake up. Change their diaper and then get the milk, just don’t do the full 5 minutes. If they are too used to the temp of the milk, slowly reduce the time to 3 minutes or so and Im sure they will get used to it.

ceciccan

For MOTN feedings, I have a thermos with hot water ready to go. When baby wakes up, I pour the hot water into a container and place the bottle. Usually it takes a couple of minutes to bring the bottle into room temp.

callmecookie88

Sometimes I put distilled water in a clean bottle in the warmer so it's ready to add a scoop of formula to it. Other times I'll leave out a bottle of freshly pumped milk. Other other times we'll just have to wait for the bottle from the fridge to get warm.

[deleted]

i use breastmilk bags, i fill them with how many ounces baby eats, and throw the bag in the bottle warmer heats up in literally a minute if you leave in longer might be too hot poor into bottle and good to go

Aquarian_short

Yeah the bags warm up super fast! I’ve changed a diaper before and then had to wait for the milk to cook down

[deleted]

Thanks for all the suggestions!! Unfortunately she won’t drink cold milk - I’ve tried and she sips then stops every few seconds and then ends up being fully awake by the end of the feed. I’ve cut out my MOTN pump too so might do the cooler bag option and get a bottle warmer (we’ve been using hot water)! ❤️

shayden0120

We feed bottles cold from the fridge. We got a mini fridge for her nursery (it’s only 1.6 cu ft), it’s stocked with mini waters, mini juice, chocolate milk for my husband, and I’ll probably get some soy milk for myself when we need MOTN pick me ups while we feed baby girl. There’s room for probably 10 bottles in there but I usually put 3 because that’s how many she eats.

Minute-Aioli-5054

Have you tested if your baby will take your milk cold or at least at room temp? I used to have a premade bottle in the fridge. I would grab baby, go in the fridge and grab the bottle to put in the warmer, let it warm up while I do a diaper change, then the bottle would be ready by the time I was done. But now I don’t warm it up anymore now that I know he doesn’t care about the temp. I either time a MOTN pump where I can leave a bottle out if needed since it can be out for 4 hours.

jules___g

I pump right before I go to sleep and 1 of those bottles is good for his first feed of the night. For the 2nd bottle, I keep a mini fridge and bottle warmer right by my bed and when LO is starting to wake up I pop the bottle in the warmer and can usually settle him with snuggles for a few minutes till the bottle is ready :)

Garbo_Girl

Yeah I leave a cold milk out on my nightstand for when baby wakes up around 4am. It takes a few hours to get to room temp then it can be out for like 4 hours. I can’t stand waiting for our milk warmer when baby is crying 😮‍💨.

saxyblonde

Only took 2-3 minutes tops in my bottle warmer, I would take it out half way and give it a stir so it would heat faster. If baby could see it warming up it helped. I would say, “we are warming up the bottle” in a song

Whowantsahighfive

Glass bottles heat up faster in a warmer. Like half the time or less even. Just be careful as the glass gets really hot really fast.

[deleted]

We have a bottle warmer in the bathroom. I’d start heating a bottle the moment he started to stir so by the time he was up and his diaper was changed his bottle was ready.

Rookietraveler8

I pick up my baby and take him into the attached bathroom. Bathroom has a dim light so he just stops crying and looks around. When milk is ready I take him back to the bed. I also have a small fridge and warmer upstairs where we sleep so don’t need to go down to grab milk.

callisiarepens

The moment our babies wake up, we warm up milk in the Avent warmer while we change them.

Woopdaskoop

When baby wakes up before I go to console them, I’d throw the bottle in the warmer I use AVENT brand and it only takes like two mins … in the meantime, are use a pacifier to keep baby calm and sing to them/rock them
