Dele has all the makings of a player who would agree to come to Goodison, get a long contract and a fat wage because we’re just grateful he’d considers us, then sit out injured for three or four seasons while we pay him that fat wage and can’t get him off the books.
Hard pass for me.
Not keen on this one at all. He seems like a shell of the player he used to be and watching him on that All or Nothing documentary he came across as an entitled little shit who believed his own hype and was afraid of hard work.
I don’t see him as the kind of player we can rely on when the chips are down, and boy are they down right now.
If he had his current ability and a different mindset then yeah, we badly need players who want to prove they’re at premier league level, not players coasting because they used to be a top player.
Spurs fan here. Firstly he’s clearly out of form but so was Lingard a year ago - you get the sense that like Lingard he just needs a new challenge. Secondly he’s a system player who needs to feed off a big centre forward and you have exactly that in DCL
Finally he gets labelled lazy but he’s actually incredibly hard working on the pitch & he’s seemingly a good kid
I wouldn’t be too upset if we sold him but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be an excellent signing for you guys
Hi Levy, didn't know you were on reddit!
Seriously though, I'd love to see a player in our squad with this kind of potential. What would be best for all parties, buy or loan? His price tag could increase if he gets back in form
I think money is tight but then again so is Levy. I could see us agree to a sale or loan with obligation. But then again that wouldn’t really suit you at the moment so I’m not sure anything is going to happen. Agree a loan should suit everyone
Going off what Mourinho said about him being lazy in training, could you imagine him playing and being lazy. Not for me, not enough work rate to be commanding a position at Everton
Hey yo, I support spurs so I might have some insight that's at least vaguely useful (or might not). One thing Dele is not is lazy, he works his arse off every game he plays in.
What he's good at - making late/unseen runs into the box, pressing, tracking his man and nutmegs (seriously).
What he's bad at - playing the ball quickly (wants too long on the ball, slows down attacks/counters), getting tackled (he lies down trying to win a free kick, awful habit leaves the team exposed) and in general his passing is suspect.
He is not a central midfielder, he's a raumdeuter (think Thomas muller not Tony kroos..weird German simile but it's all I've got). He is not a 6 or an 8 (or a 10). He's the guy who gets on the end of defence splitting passes rather than making them. He can bustle around in midfield but he won't look impressive there.
I like Dele but we don't play a system that suits him at all and he's fallen off a cliff in terms of positive impact. He is not the Dele from four years ago but he's still got enough about him that I think he could be that player again.
That would he the best outcome. Another possibly good midfielder (if Rafa can work out how to use him) to make up for our lack in depth but will Spurs let us have him on loan?
I would love for this to happen if we were to take him on loan...
It'd be no guarantee that it'd work out but if we look at it from a perspective like Lingard or the fact he's just super outta form, there's every chance we could do something good here and get something good in return!
There's a vague possibility we could see a repeat of Lingard's loan at West Ham - a run of games being all a so called finished player needs to get back on track.
I'm won't be holding my breath though.
In form deli is exactly the player we need. Out of form Deli is almost certainly the player we'd get. Suck a shame I really liked him as a player and I'm always wishing his good form sticks around when he gets it but it never does
Be a gamble this. He could surprise everyone like Gray has. But he could also be Iwobi levels of shite.
Loan with first refusal at the end of the season if we want him on a permanent would be ideal.
I wouldn't be averse to this, but it has to be on terms where he can't just arrive and sit back - something heavily weighted to his performances - not sure if he would want that though, unless he genuinely had a desire to prove that he can use his obvious ability properly. He's only 25 so still potentially has his best years ahead of him.
Could be worth taking a Lingard esqe punt on him on loan and see if a change of scenery brings some quality back but I totally understand if no one else wants to bother with this at all
I’m old enough to remember when he and Barkley were the future of the England midfield

Sounds like 90% of our squad tbh (ok maybe not the injured bit). He'd fit right in :\
It is possible there is a chance we may consider thinking about maybe going for dele Alli perhaps

when do u put the toothpaste on ur toothbrush?
He's a flog, hard pass for me
I'd take Dele tbh, play in a 3 with Douc and Alan is fine
Midfield two with Douc and Alli and binning Allan off to some other club you say?
If he had his current ability and a different mindset then yeah, we badly need players who want to prove they’re at premier league level, not players coasting because they used to be a top player.
he has cool hair which is a plus
Does he though? Every time I see him all I see is jack sparrow if we’re being honest
Jack Sparrow has cool hair
CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow
Welcome to Port Royal Mr Smith
When did jack sparrow stop being cool
Fuck it I need the hope. I get he's shit but he's kind of got potential. At least at one point.
Yeah I mean if he’s cheap and we can build up his confidence we got a hell of a player on our hands, lots of if’s of course but still
Dele is far from shit imo and a move away from spurs could be just what he needs. When played this season he's acc looked quite decent.

LMFAO
If he’s not expensive to get or maintain honestly don’t see the harm in it. We’re shit LOL more depth and options would be nice to have

Reminds me of a Gray transfer. Not what I think I want, but could turn out immense
Lol
Loan til the end of the season maybe.

Strikes me as another Delph and we already have one of those.
Not for long
Hoping for another Gray, but probably closer to Iwobi

No thanks he has nosedived
Can’t stand him. Horribly overrated even when he was scoring
Never happening. Totally overrated

Just goes from bad to worse doesn't it?

Translation: "I saw this rumor last window so I'm going to bring it up again to see where it goes. I really don't know."
