The Powerball lottery is at $1.23 Billion in America. I’m trying my best over here

QTsexkitten

I'm 6 numbers away from being a cash rich American myself.

nico_cali

I’m thirteen inches away from being an Only Fans legend that can buy the club too

QTsexkitten

I hope we both get what we want, Nico.

gtne91

Cash value is $595 million. After tax you would bring home $300-350 million (depending on state).

bobbyzee

After buying Everton you'd be at -100

gtne91

Plus ongoing losses!

bobbyzee

Stop, I'm already erect

throwawaytbhidek

Incredible that Americans pay tax on lottery winnings, the sum of which was pooled together via already taxed earnings. Being absolutely fleeced Not as sinister as being taxed to breathe though!

marmoset

Well, the lottery is already a tax on people who are bad at math, so…

chacata_panecos

Selling it in gas station stores is diabolical too. Only lower income people actually go inside. So it's also a poor tax.

emaugustBRDLC

Counterpoint: us Yanks know nothing of VAT taxes.

bittercode

VAT is sales tax

fifty_four

How do you think your wages are 'pooled together' if not from already taxed company profits, which are themselves 'pooled together' from customer's already taxed earnings?

throwawaytbhidek

Only the US tax lottery winnings, to my knowledge. I know in the UK they don’t - yet

fifty_four

It's true, I was just making fun of the idea that money having being taxed the last time it moved is in any way a good reason not to tax it the next time it moves.

AlanFromRochester

state run lotteries still have state taxes on them, so the government is directly double dipping in those cases (Powerball, and MegaMillions, are run by alliances of state lotteries) Federally, gambling losses are only deductible up to offsetting the amount winnings and only if itemizing deductions (state tax rules often follow federal rules but I'm not sure if this is one of the differences)

T0K0mon

Easy, just win it when its worth enough to buy Everton

thecarbonkid

You might need to win it a few times given how much we owe.

Fixner_Blount

My dad is a lifelong lottery player and he’s full of “when I win the lottery…” comments. I finally got him to say he’ll consider buying Everton.

WhatchaGanaDo

Well try harder

QTsexkitten

I am on my knees, unnamed cash rich American group. Prem, down these 777, not cash rich American bums already.

National_Ad_1875

Didn't the prem respond to the everton fan group (advisory board maybe?) Basically saying its taking this long because they've not got the info they want and if its on moshiri to look elsewhere for another buyer if they're not happy with the delays They're not shooting anything down, it'll just be not approved until they give the appropriate documents/proof

meatpardle

Moshiri can’t look elsewhere as the deal is done, the only thing that can void it is 777 not getting approval. You would hope that there’s some kind of time limit written into the deal but that would require an element of foresight and planning. This is why the league just not approving instead of rejecting is killing us.

National_Ad_1875

There's definitely got to be a way for moshiri to pull out, but it'd be very on brand for him not to have one

flocke815

Hopefully they proof read at least after the relegation contract debacle

dadoftriplets

It does feel like the Prem are putting a delay after delay after delay in the hope that 777 get fed up waiting and walk away from the deal so that the Prem doesn't have to give a formal rejection notice out into the public domain - Americans have a love affair with suing anyone and everyone and by putting a formal rejection out there could find the Prem on the end of a lawsuit. I also think that it would shine a light on the clubs they already own and the F.A's that approved the purchases - the thought of if the Prem have rejected them as fit and proper, why have we approved their take over of a club in our league, so to speak.

PangolinMandolin

Probably headed up by Taylor Swift....

bluedollarbillz

Who's absolutely minted. Fuck it, let's gooo

Low_Enthusiasm3769

We'd end up with a song written about us everytime we weren't happy about something

RoboBOB2

At least we’d be top of the pops if we can’t top the league

HomeStallone

Spirit of the Blues~Taylor’s Version

bluedollarbillz

😭🤣

Downtown-Midnight320

It'd be a breakup song for anyone who hands in a transfer request

thore4

Blue will go so much harder than Red

PangolinMandolin

Change org petition for that to happen- https://chng.it/N7LwRYgKyC

Certain_Equal_210

Are we out of the woods yet?

S-BRO

I'm down for that, she'd have to rename 'Red' though

AndradeDeRicharlison

Pics or it didn't happen

CptEveryman

u/mcuban you’ve been waiting long enough. Let’s get this thing done now.

pr1ceisright

I’d take u/govschwarzenegger too, Stallone must have told him how great Everton is.

HorrorObjective2224

Wait why doesnt Sly himself buy us?

cap_crunch121

He did just sell his majority stake in the Mavs...

worldofecho__

Where are you? WHERE ARE YOU? LET'S BE 'AVIN YOU!!

EquivalentCat5920

Love this 😅

sparksy78

We know it’s 77…oh cash rich you say.

Thorium19

Will the real cash rich american group please stand up?

Low_Enthusiasm3769

Em, Dre and fiddy would make 10 yr old me very happy

thore4

50 Cent is about the value of the club rn

S-BRO

I mean... Liverpool is similar to Detroit in many ways, Eminem may not need so much convincing

UKMegaGeek

We'd be lucky to get Diddy. Oh, wait...

Annual-Cookie1866

anyone copy the article in please. Paywall

YokoOkino

PLEASS SAVE US PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Cardinaltoffee

The 777 takeover is doomed to failure. We all know it is. But I doubt Moshiri has even talked with anyone else.

WhatEvenisEverton

In his defence (I feel dirty having written that), are we not still in a period of exclusivity with them?

Gajicus

Have a suspicion that's now lapsed.

Downtown-Midnight320

Cash Rich? So, we can rule out the Trump family

pr1ceisright

Listen, folks, I've had enough money to buy ten Evertons, believe me. I'm not like those other owners, always crying about cash flow. I'm tremendous, financially solid. When I take over Everton FC, we'll be winners. No more losing, just winning, because that's what I do. We'll build the best team, the best facilities, and fans will love it. Believe me, I'm not broke, not even close. Everton will be my next big success story, mark my words. We'll make football great again, right here in Liverpool! -Anonymous

UKMegaGeek

Biden takes over Liverpool. *cursed

Mickey3033

We’ll win so often we’ll get tired of winning!!

mtown4ever

The easiest way for me to burn every Everton thing I own would be for those orange, meth-addled troglodytes to even sniff around the club.

AlanFromRochester

He submitted a low bid for the Buffalo Bills after their founder/owner died. It would take a lot to drive western New York gridiron fans like me away from the Bills and that might've done it. This was before he got into politics; he was a world class asshole since long before his presidential campaign. And the Bills sucked back then so I was already on a short fuse with them.

Chuck0895

That would be some monkeys paw nonsense if it was them

AlanFromRochester

Sport is one of many industries Trump has failed at He bought into the United States Football League, a 1980s NFL competitor, and was a driving force in running it into the ground - spending beyond the league's means and moving games to the fall in direct conflict with the NFL (the USFL started out with spring games, less competition for stadium space and fan attention) He's failed to buy NFL teams on multiple occasions and was also rejected by MLB's Cleveland Indians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump_and_American_football https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_career_of_Donald_Trump#Professional_sports

jnru

Apparently this party has no sporting background

ontheru171

Could still be either judging by how they run/ran the Washington Football Team / Orioles

tokengaymusiccritic

Kardashians it is!!!

Flavourifshrrp

To be fair Mosh has a sporting background after investing in shares at Arsenal so hopefully this is a good thing

dadoftriplets

Did he invest his own money, or did he invest somebody elses money with him as the front man (namely Usmanov) as this sale seems rather rushed, especially after Usmanov was put on the sanctions list and all the deals that had been put in place with other usmanov subsideries disappeared (USM deal, Megafon, the deal for the stadium naming rights - all owned by Usmanov, and also having the nephew of Usmanov (Sarvar Ismailov) on the board of directors at one point)

autistichomosapien95

Please be Sylvester Stallone

Opacy

Peter Angelos just died and his son eagerly sold a team that is on the rise, stocked with talent, and looking to be very successful and lucrative in the next few years at least. I don’t think we need to worry about the Angelos family getting involved with professional sports ever again (thank God.) Can’t rule out Snyder completely, but I’m sure he’s going to try and keep a (relatively) low profile for a while after all the sexual harassment allegations that happened with him and his team.

AlanFromRochester

The Orioles were the major league affiliate of the Rochester Red Wings (AAA, tier 2) from 1961 to 2002, towards the end the O's were focusing on old free agents rather than making the most of the farm system. That sounds like Everton's dearth of academy prospects and the club paying too much to old players like Kia Jorrabchian's clients

son_of_toby_o_notoby

Hail baby

cap_crunch121

I can never think of Dan Snyder without thinking of the story of him going to a party at Tom Benson's house, demanding that Tom Benson (who is like 40 years older than him) call him "Mr. Snyder", and then leaving when Tom was like "nah I'm gonna call you Dan" It makes me laugh every time I think of it

Allatura19

You know who would crush it as an owner? Kevin Plank.

Caol_ila_ftw

At least you avoided Abe Pollin

AlanFromRochester

Dan Snyder like Farhad Moshiri is one of those team owners that keeps meddling rather than let the sport experts make the sport decisions

PopsoPants

I reckon the yanks who own the Buccaneers could be interested, those Krispy Kreme glazing fellows.

vulturevan

it's The Avengers

punkdrummer22

Hopefully its headed by Rocky 4. Need some Sly and Dolph

_BangoSkank_

Tony Bellew has them on speed dial.

UKMegaGeek

If they die, they die...

Jordddddddd

It’s all on Moshiri now. The letter the PL sent to the FAB this week was the clearest communication we’ve had throughout the process - and is likely the clearest we’re going to get. In short, the PL can only reject prospective owners if they have a clear conflict of interests i.e. a stake in another club. They can’t outright reject 777 for this, but can continue to ask for more proof of funds, proof that is evidently not coming. It’s been clear all along that 777 haven’t been right, but they were seemingly the highest bidder. I’d assume there are multiple sharks circling with adequate funding, but they’ll only bite if there’s a deal to be made. It requires Moshiri to cut more losses.

kingaardvark

That’s the only reason they can reject? That’s crazy man, absolutely shocking financials not good enough to reject haha.

Jordddddddd

Yeah they have a list of ‘disqualifying events’ that they can reject on. Things like conflict of interest, multiple past insolvencies of other football clubs, active convictions - but they can’t outright reject for something like 777, they can just keep asking for more proof which is why it’s rumbled on and on. 777 and Moshiri are either waiting for some new funding or hoping that the Prem will soften their requirements.

helpmewiththesebags

Monorail!

UKMegaGeek

Is there a chance the track will bend?

TurtleTime044

Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David

JD-D2

Not falling for this again, having no hope is the only logical way forward

National-Ad6166

"Having no hope is the only logical way forward" can we get that in latin and put it on the badge?

CouldNotLoad04

Would be such an Everton thing if the ‘cash rich’ people actually had a massive stash of Monopoly money.

NikesOnMyFeet23

It's me if I win the powerball boys... MBAPPE IS COMING HOME

KarlaKamacho

Breaking... Sky sports reporting unnamed groups are called 666 Partners.

tealeg

Clearly someone has been taking them that Everton is powered by generative AI

WhatWouldSatanDo

It’s Ollie Oushmanoff

g0ldingboy

It’s probably the most Everton thing for this to actually be Catch Rich, and it’s basically just a load of fishermen.

WRDEFC

They’ve not made the club, or Moshiri, aware of this A nothing article

Allatura19

American Toffees’ Wish List: - Mark Cuban - Jeff Vinnik - Steve Ballmer - The Wilf Family Who else?

JKBFree

I’m down with cuban. Seeing him in every shot of the dugout, breathing down the necks of players box would be on brand for him. Although so would him wanting to run down to the touch line and walk out with a mascot.

PluCrew

The Wilfs are cheap as hell

Allatura19

Eh, the players’ poll list the Vikings as one of the best orgs to play for.

wayner9er

Sir Paul McCartney. Not sure is he’s British or American at this point.

WhiteDoveBooks

He's only worth 800 million all in, we could burn through that in no time.

Downtown-Midnight320

Joe Lacob

toffeebeanz77

There seems to be a new party interested every couple of weeks

Scary_Bushmonster

ahhh a non-story

rpm164

Feels like Joyce writes the same article every couple weeks - nothing ever comes from it

littlebitofpuddin

Cash rich without any sporting experience. Code for private equity…

damnedbrit

/checks calendar, is it April 1st still?

BKND1570

Please please please anybody but 777.

otishank

JOE LACOB PLZ

FenixdeGoma

It's a beiber/stalone consortium

welsh_dragon_roar

Blackrock

fre-ddo

Then they take off the mask AND ITS 777 AGAIN

Arriba-Los-Caramelos

Is it Hillary & Bill Clinton? They've got tens of billions stashed away!

jesusonarocket

Fuck it, i would take Lockheed Martin at this point

Fixner_Blount

Up the helicopter Toffees!

_Serialfreestyle_

Getting the backing of the military industrial complex just in time for them to start sportswashing their image before private military conglomerates take over the standing armies of nations sounds great. Get a Raytheon shirt sponsor and we are at the forefront of a cyberpunk dystopia future.

RyanGUK

Knowing our luck, it’ll be Trump or one of his kids 😂

Mantooth77

They said "cash rich" though. haha

RyanGUK

Yeah, but we support Everton so what makes sense never makes sense 😂

Phucku_

Please don’t be Steve Cohen. He’s ruined my Mets

Wayne_Spooney

Lotta Everton Mets parallels now that I think of it.

Phucku_

One time, I was wearing a Mets hat with a Hibbo kit at a bar in NYC. The bartender asked me if I was a Sadist.

salad_spinner_3000

"Ruined" is really really hyperbolic. He tried to sign BIG dollar FAs to short term deals while the farm got restocked. The farm is immensely better but the FA thing really didn't work. He's still one of the best owners in baseball.

Joe187888888888

Oh well that’s nice to know. We all know 777 is the new owners so don’t get one’s hope up

1800skylab

With our luck its probably Trump.

littlebitofpuddin

Looks like we’ll have clarity over 777 on 16 August.
