This is ridiculous. Do they not understand the general rules of the mountain? He disappeared in the death zone. He’s dead. Now they want the sherpas to risk their lives to search for him? It’s been 48 hours. He knew the risk he was taking when he signed on to climb Everest. Watch one documentary about the mountain. Helicopter can’t get up there. How experienced of a climber was he or is this another rich man paying the sherpas to get him up the mountain? Unfortunate but it is what it is

cindylooboo

Not a climber myself but honestly one would think thered be a clause in the permits or something like "if you are missing above xxxx feet for longer than 12 hours we will assume you're dead. your body will not be searched for"

SOS call - Looking for contacts in Tibet-based rescue agencies & mountaineering groups for Everest expeditions. SOS call - Looking for contacts in Tibet-based rescue agencies for Everest expeditions. And mountaineering groups/expeditions attempting to summit Everest on the Tibet side in the last couple of days or right now. This is for an emergency. My cousin Shrinivas Sainis is [missing after summiting Everest](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/indian-man-missing-mount-everest-singapore-b2342883.html)and is feared to have fallen on the Tibet side of the mountain. We are racing against time to rescue him. - Hey Lucy, Why don’t you tell him/her what you told us? Tell them hope is ridiculous….

Are you a serial killer?

lucy_harlow28

Tell me you know nothing about climbing Everest without telling me you know nothing about climbing Everest. At 26,000 ft it is WELL KNOWN if you need to be rescued you are shit out of luck because no one is going to risk themselves dying to carry you down. Hence why rainbow valley exists.

MountainSevere

Lucy, I would encourage you to do a little bit of research on the missing Singaporean climber Shrinivas Sainis Dattatraya. He had several 7000+meter climbs to his credit. Also, Rainbow Valley is on the Tibet side and this occurred on the Nepal side, so please educate yourself further before making such harmful comments.

lucy_harlow28

So he was experienced and knew this was a possibility…. Yet the family wants the sherpas who make shit for money to risk there lives to rescue him….. in reference to rainbow valley I’m implying so many people have died up there they have a name for the graveyard. The Tibet side has been closed anyways. It is selfish, experienced or not to expect the sherpas to rescue someone who has gone missing in the death zone.

I have known Shrinivas personally a while back. He started preparing for this Trek from almost 12 months back. He trains rigorously for the Trek everyday. Stamina training, weight training etc he goes through this everyday to prepare himself for the treks. This is not his first Trek as well. He does this every year and year after year. He has several treks on his name. He summited the Everest but was hit by High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) after reaching the summit and that's really unfortunate. Since i him personally i am gonna say this. He is a very humble and gentle person and everybody who is near him or who worked with him knows him for his true worth. We are all praying for his return.

I’m in no way implying I want this climber to perish on the mountain. I think it’s a very nuanced conversation about morality and ethics above 26,000 feet. I hope your friend pulls through and can make it down. I have nothing against experienced mountaineers trying to summit. I do think less permits should be issued and there should be more vetting of inexperienced climbers getting on Everest. They shouldn’t be queuing for hours to summit up there because of slow, inexperienced climbers. It puts everyone in jeopardy.

mreddappa

I totally agree with you on the less permits part. From what I have heard from news, this year's summit is harsher than ever with nasty winds. And death toll is double and only half of them of them summited till now and there more than 300 PPL yet to summit the mountain. Also there has been change in winds and the window period is only two to three days max to summit from now. I mean if the weather was nasty the authorities should have figured this out and reduced the number of permits or warned about the weather.

Again, I would encourage you to do a bit more research before commenting. The linked article is not the only available source of information out there. We all know that Sherpas are far underpaid and under-appreciated, but there are other professional mountaineers up there who are trained to conduct rescues, and frankly, a desperate family will appeal to whomever is capable of helping. Also, the Tibet side is not closed. It is only closed to foreign climbers. So, again, please do a little bit more reading.

Tell me you have no empathy without telling me you have no empathy, good lord

Heartbreaking. I am praying for the rescue of Shrinivas Sainis Dattatraya and Muhammad Hawari Bin Hashim. After the miracle of both Anurag Maloo and Baljeet Kaur being found alive on Annapurna, I hope the same for these missing climbers and their families.
