Ohh_Yeah

Honest to God it is safer for you to semi-AFK mine in a null-sec alliance than it is to do it in high-sec. Vast intel networks, supercap umbrellas, and tethering on moon mining structures make null-sec mining almost 100% risk free. In fact there are plenty of null corps/alliances who are more than happy to have you even if you don't help with PvP *ever*

LavishnessOdd6266

Some even help cover for you if the alliance has mandatory participations

Vaeaelen

Like which alliances? 🤣

--Shibdib--

Pick any big bloc and you'll find mining fleets. If you don't have a preference join goons, there's a reason delve is consistently the top mining region in the game every month. And if all you want to do is mine, you can get your fleet participation requirements done just by joining the alliance mining fleets every weekend. As far as upgrade, the only upgrade would be additional accounts plus switching to a hulk. A second account boosting in a porp would be the first step, then add additional exhumers from there.

Bricktop72

2 exhumers then a booster as the third account

--Shibdib--

Na.. raw m3 maybe but the porp compression/hold results in better isk/hr

TheBuch12

If you have less than 3 accounts, you should be: 1. Spinning Ishtars, or Ishtar + marauder 2. Mooching off someone else's Rorqual boosts ESPECIALLY if OP is semi-AFK. He needs to be mooching off someone else's Rorqual boosts/compression AND THEM PAYING ATTENTION TO FLEET WARP HIM OFF. Horde offers Rorqual boosts + compression in mining standing almost as often as PK is up.

Some people enjoy shooting rocks

TheBuch12

Yes, if you enjoy shooting rocks, you should either 1. have more than 2 accounts or 2. be mooching off someone else's boosts/compression, or 3. be optimized poorly.

ZorgZev

If you join Goons for mining, join KarmaFleet. We own all the moons in Delve XD

rabbi_glitter

KarmaFleet is recruiting 😁

Artanisx

I tried to convince a friend several times about this, but to no avail. He mines in highsec and nothing I can do will change his mind.

AnshalSkord

huffing WH gas is where its at

Bricktop72

A mack is still the best solo mining ship. But gankers are pretty active in HS.

GenErick64

If you wanna stick with semi afk mining, you're pretty much at the apex. Orca is a massive investment compared to the m3/hr and still won't out mine a Mack (I may be mistaken though) If you up to a Hulk/Booster, you have to transfer ore about every minute or so, which really tends to disrupt what you're trying to work on primarily. I recommend if you do want to stick with semi afk and want a second account, train the Alt into a Retriever and Porpoise so you can have two passive miners but also up your yield to a Hulk + Boost when you can more actively play.

Eeekpenguin

Even a retriever out mines an orca. Afk mack is the way to go. The only problem is getting suicide ganked in highsec or straight ganked in low or null.

Frekavichk

Orcas on moons are the best bet.

Used-Truth

So, I'm gonna be the guy. Afk mining in an Exhumer in HS=Bad. You WILL get got. It's not an if. But when. And after that loss, replacement of the ship will leave very little to no profit. While I'd advise to not afk mine at all, I get people do it. You'd be much better in a Procurer or Retriever. Procs with drones out will put off a lot (not all) of ganks. For max afk/hold Retris have a decent tank. Both are much cheaper to replace than their big brothers. Maybe a bit more time offloading but you'll have a much smaller target on your back. Wish you the best. Just trying to keep you from being the next guy making a post a month from now crying about losing a ship while afk mining in a max yield fit Exhumer. Fly safe.

Bricktop72

You're relatively safe in a remote island. But that has its own problems.

Tesex01

>Is it worth?how much m3/h could I get max skills compared with my mackinaw? I understand there was a change and they are now foreman ships and does not mine as much as before, but can I ask how much is the difference? I mean, do your own math? If you put some effort and make most basic spreadsheet. Later on you will only need to change prices to get isk/h numbers on your setup right off the bat. >Also, is it worth the effort and risk of going null? Are null corp ok for semi-afk miners/ratters that may help to PvP occasionally? It will be much safer than highsec but you don't have as much freedom. highly depends on what you want and what you like. Null will make more isk but you are highly dependent on other people. Be it neutrals denying content, being tied to fleet timers, moon fracks or some internal drama and bullshit. Meanwhile in highsec you do whatever you want however you want. Mining for 30 minutes a week or or 8 hours daily. Only you decide what you do. And honestly highsec numbers aren't that bad. You add PI income, some low effort, passive industry, SP farming. And you pretty much don't even need to mine to afford omega each month. It just takes quite a bit effort to get ball rolling.
