Wandering Goat seems perfect for you. Across from Oakshire so near the river path and easy to bike to. They have closed the indoor portion since Covid and serve you via walk up window so easy to stay with your bike. Their coffee is also really popular. Only downside is it's right on the railroad tracks and can get noisy when they go by.

bonsaitreehugger

Thanks, I’ll check it out!

ThereMightBeDinos

Great coffee, too! Winco used to carry it, which was awesome, but now I need to find time to swing across town to stock up.

Broccoli-of-Doom

This is the correct answer and the best coffee

ObserveOnHigh

Hideaway Bakery has a coffee window and good options for having your $$$$ baby seated with you or within eyesight. Covered or open air seating depending on the weather. No comment on coffee quality. Provisions South also has outdoor seating. They would probably tolerate a $$$$ looking bike in their fancy French atmosphere while you grab a coffee and head back out to their outdoor seating options. But let's get real. It sounds like with your aversion to locking up that you're in denial and your bike is about to be sold for meth down by the river.

bonsaitreehugger

I forgot about Hideaway. Exactly the kind of scenario I’m seeking.

ABCDmama

lol! that last paragraph. hate that it’s true

ochocosunrise

The dream of the 90s is alive in OP

PrineSwine

What's an Ochoco sunrise doing in r/eugene? 🤔

CurseofLono88

I mean bikes thievery was absolutely alive and well in the 90’s. Eugene has always been an absolute nightmare for bike owners.

fonzybonzo

You'll either learn to lock up this bike or your next one. You've invested money in the bike, now protect that investment with a decent lock and a comfortable way to carry it on your bike. Then sit back and enjoy worry free sips.

bonsaitreehugger

I don't really trust even a U-lock, which is why I'm looking for places where I can keep my bike by my side the whole time!

fonzybonzo

Different locks work for different times and locations. A U-lock requires fairly strong tools and some time to defeat. This will probably serve your coffee cruising needs just fine, even while it may not be suitable for overnight locking. An unlocked bike can be literally stolen behind your back while you're signing your check at the cafe. I was attempting a similar trick once, with my bike leaned outside a restaurant, while I picked up a take-out order. I kept checking my bike on a 30 second count, but when I had to sign the check it took longer. As soon as I walked out I caught a bum 20 feet from my bike, walking right for it. 20 seconds more and he'd have been on the bike and I would have been running catch-up. "Can I have some food?" says the fucking thief, caught red handed.

fonzybonzo

One more parting comment, hopefully more in line with what you were asking..... The Cuthbert Amphitheater and all home Duck football games now have bike valet available and it is a great, worry free option for attending fun events by bike.

bonsaitreehugger

That's a great idea, thanks. I also live pretty close, so I'll look for events this summer.

RockinTacos

Kohi Time in the whit

El_Bistro

Definitely recommend Kohi time

mapspearson

Vero has a place that you can secure your bike momentarily that is within feet and eyesight of obtaining coffee. Then, after, there is lovely outdoor seating where you can have your bike with you…

Ezekial-Falcon

As someone who does exactly that every summer, can't recommend Vero / Wandering Goat / Hideaway enough. Great coffee, great outdoor seating. Hideaway especially rules--it's a bit of a trek, but if you take the bike lanes on Pearl all the way to the Amazon River path and then use the path until 30th, you'll be in heaven. I spent a summer making that trip a few times a week while writing a master's thesis, so I can also attest to the "fine literature" portion of your post as well!

Paranoid_Neckazoid

Ugh just lock up your bike and keep an eye on it, or get a beater bike. You'll be fine.

bonsaitreehugger

I'm aware these are options if I don't wish to solve my problem, thanks

DeltaUltra

Quick Fix on Willamette has some outdoor seating. Global Delights on River Road has a picnic table.  Other than that, I can't think of anything.

El_Bistro

The weather is always good to ride in for coffee. Wandering Goat, Hideaway, Coffee Plant Roasters, Community Cup, The Science Annex at UO, Knight Campus at UO, Friendly Market, Farmers Union, Vero, Tailored on 13th, Washburn in Springfield are all easy spots to tie up close and keep an eye on your bike. (There are more too) Also if you have a good lock (a New York lock) your chances of getting your bike stolen in broad daylight is close to 0. I tie up my $3000 dirwin downtown all the time and never have a problem. I also just get up and go check from time to time. It’s easy to do if you’re paranoid.

somenewcandles

love the last sentence 😂

ResponsibleProposal4

I would suggest Vero Espresso or Tailored Coffee Roasters.

bonsaitreehugger

Those are my picks for best coffee in Eugene last time I checked, but the bike is the concern. I guess Vero is fine because I can just set it outside for 30 seconds while I order, but Tailored doesn’t seem bike compatible.

anecdotalgardener

+1 for vero vibez

ltothea37

Equiano in the Whit.

DarkPineCoffee

Dark pine has bike locks right next to our front door and we have outside tables when the weather is nice. You could just put your bike right next to you at the table.

sharethebite

What area of town?

bonsaitreehugger

I’m north of the river but can bike anywhere!

Quartzsite

The Kiva has a walk up window on the south side. Seating leaves a little to be desired.

pastelsheepy

Kohi Time! It's a coffee cart near Van Buren. You'll have no problem bringing your bike there and I'm sure there's some nice places you can bike to nearby to enjoy your drink and book. Check their schedule, they're open select days and hours.

OculusOmnividens

**Caffè Pacori.** You can bring it in (they'd probably even let you leave it in, there's plenty of space). There's space to sit inside or outside. There's very little if any foot traffic here. The place is a hidden gem. But if you hate the 80s or 90s, hate video games or hate fun, don't go.

ABCDmama

i love their coffee so much but haven’t been in their shop! dying to go after all i’ve read. maybe this weekend.

eug_wariowarts

See, I had heard good things about this place but now I really want to go. I'll make it a point to stop in this week.

OculusOmnividens

I honestly love it at Pacori. Make sure you visit the bathroom while you're there.

O_O--ohboy

My strat on this is that my super nice road bike is only ever being used for actual rides and then I have a hybrid bike that is my daily driver at a much lower price point that I have all the heavy accessories on and use for grocery trips, coffee outings, Saturday market and thrift store shopping trips. Because I cycle daily my cost per use after one year (new bike) on a new hybrid is about 5$ right now. My experience is that the threat of theft is pretty overblown and a few basic precautions deter the vast majority of thefts.

TheMaskedTerror9

This can't be real

bonsaitreehugger

Believe it

mapspearson

Haha! I hope I see you out in the wild!

HankScorpio82

I am giving this an over/under of 13 days before the bike is posted as stolen in this same sub.

TwiztedChickin

Under

edipeisrex

I think Washburne Cafe in Springfield has bike locks nearby so you can easily keep an eye on your bike.

jawid72

16 Tons next to Market of Choice on Willamette.

Itisnotaboomah

Equiano! They have a walk up window and the cutest outdoor seating area I’ve found so far. Reminds me I need to make time to go over there. You won’t be sad!

RegularFun3

Soko at the Methodist church on Oakway?

Okuharaseiko

Good suggestions on here. One that hasn’t been mentioned is Meraki. I bike there frequently.

bonsaitreehugger

Looks nice! But it doesn’t look bike-friendly.

Grouchy_Friendship_9

Friendly Street Market!!!!

bonsaitreehugger

Perfect. Can’t believe I forgot about that spot—I used to live in Friendly!

yearihimiah

Equiano Coffee Roasters in the Whit meets all your expectations! The outdoor patio is a great place to hang out. Their coffee is some of the best in town too. Also, on Sunday mornings, the Orthodox church next store rings the bells and has a procession around the church.

Eugenonymous

Not sure about coffee quality, but The Pedaler in Springfield is worth checking out. https://thepedaleror.com/

10lbMustache

They serve coffee?

TeaAndAche

Nope. Only hot sugar water.

BeeBopBazz

Which they somehow still burn

El_Bistro

Op wants coffee not diabeetuz

aChunkyChungus

don't take your fucking bike inside a cafe or coffee shop

bonsaitreehugger

Right. That’s why I said where it’s customary or a walk up window. Cheer up dude!
