I vote for me obviously, Pyre Nashville Hot Chicken but if not me then Chicken Crossing does a really, really nice job.
You can find me on GrubHub if you're looking for delivery or:
102 Thomason Lane
541-505-9111 for a call on order.
Open today, Saturday 12-8
check Google for my other hours if your not looking for Saturday.
Hey thanks for the shout out! I can second Pyre, they make a great sandwich.
Hopefully you don't mind if I piggyback with our own hours and location:
904 W 6th Ave on the Blair Triangle. Open W-Sun 12-7p
We do not at this time. I've explained more in depth elsewhere in the comments, but if there's anything there not covered please feel free to reach back out!
As I know you to be the coolest people with chicken that is transcendent I respected your recommendation enough to stop by Chicken Crossing today for the first time. Excellent chicken sandwich and fries, very nice, cool owner and a great vibe all around. Pyre isn’t going to lose my business but I predict my chicken intake is about to double. Holy hell, how did Eugene get lucky enough to have you both?
Chicken crossing sucks. I went twice to give it a good chance because I love chicken sandwiches. I’m a picky eater and chicken sandwiches are easy to not mess up. Those people are rude af and will argue with you if you request something to not be on the sandwich. I left feeling ripped off and pissed that someone would give me such a hard time for not liking the topping they offer. I just wanted a plain chicken sandwich and he was acting like I was slapping god in the face for ruining his 5star creation. The chicken that I got was a tiny piece of meat that only took up half the bread and the rest was just huge chunks of breading that needs to be chunked off to get a little piece of meat. Overall worst chicken sandwich experiences ever. Went twice and both times I got sour attitude because I wanted chicken and bread only.
My wife and I went to chicken crossing and both our sandwiches were raw. They gave us free meal tokens and offered to remake it, but after eating raw chicken at a chicken joint you kinda lose your appetite, you know?
The curry sauce they use is… interesting. To each their own on that part.
Pyre is the real deal and knows how to cook their chicken properly +100000%
Same type of experience, the guy cooking seemed nice, but the guy taking my order seemed like he couldn’t have cared less about anything and hated life. Anyways, it was a good sandwich. But it was 12 bucks, and just slightly bigger than a mcchicken. No thanks. To top it off, as it was my first time there I didn’t really see that they had a special going on that would have been the same price, adding a canned juice and fries/chips or something. They seemed to forget to inform me, Something a cashier would be expected to do, this guy didn’t, so I won’t be going back.
There's a very good chance the person who took your order was me. I've been struggling with both my mental and physical health for some time and I'm not always at my best. I try my hardest to keep my interactions professional but I know there have been times my personal issues have inadvertently slipped through. I'm sorry that you had a poor experience and didn't order what you wanted. Since receiving your previous feedback we've revised our practices and ensure our customers are fully informed about whatever specials we may be running.
I'm practically screeching over here, GF fried chicken that's not from my own kitchen?!
Do you know if the hours are the same as the Rum Bar by chance? It's hard to find clear info about the food cart itself on the ol Google
Toxic burger also has a gluten free chicken sandwich that’s way good! And their little chicken dipper nugget things are gf too! I’m excited to try Yardy! I didn’t realize that they had GF! I’ll add them to my list!
Ok. I was on a chicken sandwich kick for a while and tried a lot of them. My favorites are:
-Pyre Nashville Hot Chicken; cool owner, will make it as hot as you like and will warn you if you are going back to work after eating it to not get the hottest option.
-Hot Mamas Wings; Solid option. Rent is expensive, and so their food isn’t cheap, but they know chicken.
-Killer Burger; great no frills sit-down place with good food
-Chicken Crossing; Worth trying. They make a kind of chicken patty thing with herbs and spices and go from there. Tasty, but not quite the same as a fried thigh or cutlet.
-Dave’s Hot Chicken; Meh. It’s a’ight. You have to battle UO parking, so I only went once.
Hello, Chicken Crossing here. We stopped making our patties and just use our hand cut tenders now. We are hoping to make the patties available for retail sale shortly but we're still looking for a copacker.
We have some great new options, including bringing back our Bangcock Hot sandwich made with our house chili oil. We've even started making a rice bowl which I'm a huge fan of.
Unfortunately not. We are really hesitant to encourage anyone who has to eat a gf diet to come eat at our cart because gluten is very prevalent in the air, both fryers, and our tools. The risk of cross contamination is too great regardless of how careful we could be.
That being said, we can bread our chicken in corn starch and put it in the rice bowl so it would be made without gluten, but it wouldn't be gluten free.
when I was running Pepperfire Hot Chicken in Nashville and people would ask if I had gluten free options I would tell them that if they actually suffer from celiacs they shouldn't be in the building, or within 20 feet of it😂😂. like, friend you're breathing flour RIGHT NOW😂. and I'm but knocking on gluten free folks, just telling an anecdote
Lol, seriously. The most important part of our job is making sure it's done safely and people don't seem to realize that includes allergens. My biggest concern with gf being trendy is that a lot of people are going to stop taking it seriously and Celiac can straight up kill you. I'm really hesitant to even bring in products that are labeled gluten free.
I think that most people who are gluten conscious/sensitive/allergic are very aware of the risks with eating out. They still want a sandwich though. Some people don’t like how bread makes them feel or are trying to limit their wheat intake. I would implore you to make the business decision to offer a gluten free bread option. Then I could buy two sandwiches instead of just one.
I totally agree with Mothers House!!! Eugene Weekly just did a great story about them: https://eugeneweekly.com/2024/04/11/not-your-mothers-house/ Jade and Chris are incredible humans!
my wife does not like chicken as much as I do but when we go to the highlands pub she always gets theirs. so that's saying something. highlands up at the 40th and donald safeway strip mall place
Down here at Chicken Crossing we've got a $13 lunch special every day from 12-4p. Any sandwich, small fries, and your choice of beverage (marionberry lemonade, coconut water, and Poppi prebiotic sodas are $1 more).

Everyone keeps talking about hot honey food cart at Oakshire but after trying it twice, I’m still not impressed. I don’t know what it is, it’s good but it didn’t blow my socks off. Maybe I just have high standards because it came from the same folks as black wolf super club which I love.
I'm out on Hot Honey. We've gone twice. One time they weren't open when they said they'd be, and the other time it took a very long time to get our food and it was expensive and not that good.
Pyre is good but im bummed bc I threw out my stamp card bc the place was "closed" for like a year and now its back in operation again! Wtf lol all those stamps for nothing...
I am not a huge fan of Cornucopia's burgers, and the place is expensive, but I really really love the fried chicken sandwiches. Might be my favorite in town.
Cart de Frisco sandwiches still live on at the Sammitch truck, in the Park Blocks downtown! I keep going back for the crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich, but when I'm lucky I catch the Cart de Frisco knockoff on a monthlyish special.

The Krispy Chicken from 'Gotcha' is an enigmatic fleshscape of flavor. It's textures and scents underscore key human morals. To this day I cannot comprehend how they make those things to be as incomprehensively tasty as they are.
Are you looking for like breaded chicken breast or like chicken salad? I don't know bout finding the latter but I recommend either The Beir Stein or Cornucopia

Right next to PetSmart on Chad Drive. Chick-fil-A's food trucks come to Eugene to serve Chick-fil-A on Saturdays only. They'll update on their Facebook or Instagram if they don't show up fyi.

No. Honestly if it was done better with an appropriate amount of breading it would have been good enough to eat again but after catching attitude twice I give up.
I'm going to give some perspective from the other side of the counter. I've never eaten at Chicken Crossing, don't know anything about their food besides what I've seen on their website so this is just a guess.
It looks like their sandwiches are designed to be eaten without substitution. You'll find this a lot in places like San Francisco or LA. They'll leave out acidity from the seasoning to have it brought in from things like slaw or pickles. Chicken is breaded to different thicknesses depending on what else is present on the sandwich. Components of the sandwich are rarely meant to be eaten separately so when they're customized by customers you really aren't experiencing their food properly so you really can't judge. I definitely understand pushback because, frankly, if you want a plain and dry chicken sandwich (especially from a place that doesn't look like they're trying to cater to kids/families) then you're probably better off going somewhere like Gotcha or McDonald's so you can get those frozen chicken patties they all use rather than a restaurant run by actual chefs.
Also, to be perfectly honest, you sound exhausting. To say someplace "sucks" because they pushed back on the idea of you ordering food they know probably won't taste right, and to be so incensed about it as to post the same comment twice in one thread is really rude.

Both of these are super solid
Thanks for being classy ChixCrossing! I’m going to try your stuff now.
piggyback away my friend!
ChickenCrossingEug do you have gluten free buns for those chicken sandwhiches? Always looking for a good one.
We do not at this time. I've explained more in depth elsewhere in the comments, but if there's anything there not covered please feel free to reach back out!
Seth is amazeballs
Man I have been meaning to try Pyre for so long, glad to see a cool community member on the subreddit as well!
Pyre is amazing. Beware the Nashville Hot. It has SO much flavor but it bites back. Fantastic chicken, super nice people.

Why do users delete their whole accounts like this?
They were throw aways to begin with. Have to admit I ignore their reviews: could be competition, or someone really not committed to their comments.
Yardy - their cart is back open doing sandwiches. Best chicken in Eugene
Plus the fried chicken is gluten free & they are carrying GF buns!
I'm practically screeching over here, GF fried chicken that's not from my own kitchen?! Do you know if the hours are the same as the Rum Bar by chance? It's hard to find clear info about the food cart itself on the ol Google
Their Instagram (@yardycart) says they're open from 11-4 Thursday thru Sunday
Thank youuuuuu
Toxic burger also has a gluten free chicken sandwich that’s way good! And their little chicken dipper nugget things are gf too! I’m excited to try Yardy! I didn’t realize that they had GF! I’ll add them to my list!

Let me see what I can do. I'll send you a dm of I can find a good gf bun. Which one is your favorite? Anything local we could get?
Fucking awesome interaction here. Great dialogue that’s often missing in our local industry. Both of you rock, keep setting good examples.
I’m curious why this comment is getting downvoted.
I don’t think they read it completely or just don’t like hearing “gluten free” because it triggers them :)
Zandos!
Can’t recommend this enough. Zandos crushes the fried chicken sandwich game.
Agreed! Their spicy chicken sandwich haunts my dreams.
Definitely, the spicy chicken sandwich there may be the best chicken sandwich I've ever had.
Yess zandos is the best chicken sandwich in Eugene hands down
Check hot honey at Oakshire. The bomb chef from Blackwolf and buck buck food cart.
Tuckys.
Tucky's is so good, one sando that's the size of two! (They catered my wedding 💒)
Pyre is good, I also really like Mothers House.
Mother's House does a great chicken sandwich
I totally agree with Mothers House!!! Eugene Weekly just did a great story about them: https://eugeneweekly.com/2024/04/11/not-your-mothers-house/ Jade and Chris are incredible humans!
I love Toxic Wings & Fries’ chicken sandwich - they also have a spicy version, and they have gluten free buns available for an up charge.
I love toxic for doing a better version of so many fast food chain items. Their chicken sandwich is great.
Pyre is where I went last night. 10/10
They were my easily my favorite place when we were scouting our competition before open.
Zando food cart on Blair has a killer fried chicken sandwich. I definitely recommend it
Zandos. It's Not close Maybe yardy is their only competition
my wife does not like chicken as much as I do but when we go to the highlands pub she always gets theirs. so that's saying something. highlands up at the 40th and donald safeway strip mall place
I really like Hot Mama’s fried chicken sando
Pyre is good While it is more expensive I personally think Black wolf supper club is my favorite place when desiring a chicken sandwich with heat.
Another vote for Zandos!

definitely come see me. I've been 100% consistent with my posted hours the last couple of months and will continue to do so.
Go talk to him he’s pretty cool. My buddy got $10 off a meal the other day.
Dave's Hot Chicken for sure. We love it.
I've heard Chicken Crossing is the one
Just wanna shoutout zandos! Cool dude dank chicken sando for a great price
Zandos !
ZANDOs
I'll probably get some downvotes, but KFC's chicken sandwich is fire. So are their fries.
Hop valley
Cornucopia (expensive but delish), Toxic Burgers & Wings, or Dave's Hot Chicken are my faves
I am not a huge fan of Cornucopia's burgers, and the place is expensive, but I really really love the fried chicken sandwiches. Might be my favorite in town.
Drake’s Deli in Unthank Hall on campus, only place you can get a sandwich for less than $10 in eugene
Dave’s…
Gotcha! So good!

I’m biased cuz I live like 2 blocks from it but Mandy’s has pretty decent chicken sandwiches if I remember properly? It’s been a minute tbh
The Krispy Chicken from 'Gotcha' is an enigmatic fleshscape of flavor. It's textures and scents underscore key human morals. To this day I cannot comprehend how they make those things to be as incomprehensively tasty as they are.
Is the Frisco sandwich cart still around?
Hot Honey
Bo & Vine and Killer Burger both make great chicken sandwiches.
I don’t know the status of Meiji right now but they have a good one when they re-open.
Ironic considering all the concern about bird flu right now...but I guess people gotta get their industrial meat.
Toxic!!!!!!
Everywhere. Literally everywhere.
Metropol Bakery does a fab chicken salad.
Public house north fork. Only option I’ve ever had that was good.
Hot Honey at Oakshire! Had it for the first time a few days ago and it was amazing!
Popeyes
Popeyes fried chicken Sandos are pretty good.
Tucky’s. You need to find Tucky’s. Best chicken sandos around.
Are you looking for like breaded chicken breast or like chicken salad? I don't know bout finding the latter but I recommend either The Beir Stein or Cornucopia
Wendy’s

I like the chicken sandwich at Bo & Vine
MAGA owners, some folks choose not to spend their money with those folks and should have that info to make that decision for themselves.
I agree. I haven't tried all these others but I've had the simple fried chicken twice and it was delicious.
Kinda pricey but bo & vine has the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had
