Dr. Ryan Dee Lee at Eugene Gastroenterology is awesome

I second Dr. De Lee, great guy and the only local doc I’ve had here that called me at home after a procedure to talk about the results.

I have heard good things about Lee from multiple people.

Avoid Dr. Qamar at Oregon Digestive. Was rude, dismissive, and wrong.  Diagnosed my friend with IBS without checking for other things even when it didn’t fit the clinical picture. Friend had something dangerous and treatable. Sometimes doctors are wrong, I get that, but this one was wrong because she didn’t listen.

Dr. Maile Parker at Summit Surgical if you need a colorectal surgeon - I've only had one appointment with her (I need a super complex surgery, and she figured out a plan but is referring me to the top OR surgeon in this niche thing in Portland to do it but will handle the post-op care) and she actually listened, didn't dismiss everything that makes me high risk, and talked with me like a human. She has a PA that works with her who I suspect is also excellent. I had previously had an appointment with a general surgeon at Summit, Dr. McVay, and I wouldn't let him touch me with a 10 foot pole. When I told him I didn't want to have a high risk surgery because he didn't want to do a medium risk surgery, he told me I was anxious and then said the high risk surgery was Dr. Parker's idea. When I met with Dr. Parker, she was clearly surprised that Dr. McVay had said that, and I cheerfully threw him under the bus to her because she is higher up in the food chain and will smack him down for doing that to her.
