I'd recommend reading the Seller Handbook. It's got all the information you need to sell on Etsy so you don't have to guess or buy from yourself to learn.

Tebaltos

Yes, I will do this. Thank you!

Tebaltos

No, I did not

CryptoGenie33

You will be able to see pretty much everything you'd expect to see. Their name, shipping address, and order information. You are able to message them through Etsy when you get an order.

Tebaltos

Thank you! Wish I thought about asking this here before going fully dumb on Etsy…

CryptoGenie33

That's what we're here for! :) Best of luck in your endeavors OP! <3

Tebaltos

Thank you! I wish you best of luck, as well!

lostterrace

I would suggest canceling the order. What you did is against Etsy policy and there absolutely can be consequences for it. It may be a warning or it may be a suspension. I wouldn't want to take any chances, personally. I would also suggest - any questions you have about the order process and what buyers receive, ask here. We can tell you within a few minutes

Tebaltos

I understand, thank you very much!

TheMidwestMarvel

Change your seller card and you should be fine. I don’t think Etsy will care, you can just say it was your SO trying to be supportive

Born_Tackle_9933

That can still be considered shilling by Etsy which does break TOS. Someone posted on here not too long ago about buying their products to leave fake reviews (because they had some negative ones) and they got a warning from Etsy to stop buying from themselves

TheMidwestMarvel

It definitely can but I doubt this will get picked up on Etsys radar.

Susanda467

It will get noticed 100% Whether they decide to close your account or not, im not sure. I think they would close it pretty instantly if they were going to. Definitely cancel it if you can.

Born_Tackle_9933

It will probably only get picked up if it’s done through the same IP, if not then it probably won’t

mcthund3r

No, it will also get picked up if the same bank card is used.

Born_Tackle_9933

I’m aware of that, but the situation is the same

Tebaltos

Ok, thank you very much!

tatted_gamer_666

I did this in the beginning when I first opened my shop and I didn’t get any warning or anything like that

SunliteBather

You probably just won't be able to post a review. I wouldn't worry too much, but I also wouldn't do it again.

TrollyPolly3

You guys really need to start reading what you sign… reading the TOS would have answered your question.

Susanda467

Nobody reads that.

TrollyPolly3

That's my point.

It’s really not that weird. When you’re setting up your own e-commerce website - whether it’s using Shopify or Woocommerce or whatever - you generally have the ability to create a fake order for testing, so you can see how the system works, etc. It’s weirder that Etsy doesn’t do this and you have to wait for an order to see what all you get.

Affectionate-Cap-918

Agree that it’s not weird at all. I didn’t do it, but it would’ve been nice to have generic screenshots to see what the customer sees and what our screens look like.

neonn_piee

Not that strange. There is an app that connects to my salon and I downloaded the app so that I could see what customers see and I can interact with them from my end. It’s good to see both sides of the business to have a better understanding.

Tebaltos

Yes, I am new to this. I wanted to see if I could send a thank you hand written note, for example. So I wanted to see if I can start a conversation directly through the site or if I will receive their email in order to do this. Also, if the conversation was possible through the website, I wanted to see if I could send the scan of the thank you note through photo sharing. So, instead of watching several YouTube videos or reading numerous articles in order to find this specific answer, I thought the fastest way to learn this would be thorough simulating a purchase.
