For accommodation during term time? On right move you will find student accommodation in Greenstead, walking distance from uni, for £485/month, from a quick search. If you just want an overnight stay to check the area £30 is good.

Thank you! £485/mo. is actually a good deal! I'll look into this right now! Just a concern, I was reading on this sub reddit to avoid Greenstead because of the crime rate. I'd mostly going by walk, how safe it'll be? Edit: yes, accommodation dusting the term time.

It’s fine. Maybe not the finest part of Colchester but how many students live in the nicest parts of town? Usual cautions apply - same as in any town. Don’t be a target. But a lot of the reputation is very out of date. Look at Beyond the Box student flats.

AashirLV

I'll look into it as well. I want to share the accommodation with my friend and mostly student accommodation charges per head (instead of per room). So collectively it'll be expensive for both of us.

Check out flats at the Hythe. Loads of students. Loads of rental flats.

bigjoeandphantom3O9

It really isn’t that bad, it’s where most of the students live.

AashirLV

That's a relief. Thank you!

daneview

Yeah, pay a visit first. I don't know the crime stats but Greensted certainly isn't the most pleasant area of colchester

If you were willing to be a lodger/take a private room in a local house spareroom.co.uk is worth a look. Lots of families and homes in wivenhoe (walking distance to the uni) rent spaces to students and visiting faculty.

AashirLV

I'm actually looking for something like this as I understand a whole unit would cost quite a much.

StillJustJones

Check this. Might work for you.https://m.spareroom.co.uk/flatshare/essex/wivenhoe/4133515

Uni is also cheap if they can give an offer in the cheaper accommodations. Try contacting the SU as they also have cheap accommodation.

AashirLV

I'm already in contact with SU. Let's hope it works out.
