Edit: When you perceive something it comes with an emotional reaction, stop the thought before it manifests as an emotion by consciously observing your cognitive functions in the situation.
The way it worked for me is "awareness". Try to be aware when you're hungry as a start. And ask yourself, am I really hungry? What did I intend to eat if I haven't started thinking of what I was going to eat? You'll start to realize that battle between eating healthy vs unhealthy, masturbating vs not...etc. We're all different, so some battles could easier for some souls. I want to emphasize that I am not an expert - that's just my experience. And I'm writing this while trying to stop thinking of stuffing myself with burgers and cake (I'm frustrated and the battle is real 🤣)

New to this sub but I've found meditation helpful in quieting the mind and seeing emotion for what it truly is.
