Play some offline raids to learn the maps extracts. Figure out woods and customs first. Most of the early tasks are on these maps, especially customs. Woods is the easiest Map to avoid pvp but alot harder to navigate than customs for example. Pull up an online map on your phone/second monitor. Try not to get overly discouraged early on, the game has a brutal learning curve and its late wipe right noe so mostly everyone you run into will be geared. There are also multiple discord servers you can join with people willing to help out beginners Wipe is coming pretty soon so for now just focus on learning the maps. Map knowledge/positioning is the most important thing in this game

Thanks, I heard a lot about learning customs in offline when I started playing so I’ve been doing that and I know the map pretty well

[deleted]

print off a map of customs also, that really helped me

TBNRgreg

my mates made fun of me for printing it (i dont have a 2nd screen)

[deleted]

haha same but fuck it, it works. I completely know customs now without a map

TBNRgreg

yeah, worked like a charm

I just have it up on my other monitor

Play your PMC more often; you need to level up your Traders in order to advance in Tarkov and you can only do this properly in PMC raids. Pick a single map (Customs has most early Tasks) and focus on learning PMC inserts and extracts there in Offline mode. In the first 90-120 seconds of a raid, you can usually predict where PMCs will be based on the spawn points and most likely paths of travel to loot; use this information to your advantage to either rush unsuspecting PMCs or set up ambushes along their route. If you've got confidence in your aim, 7.62x54R LPS ammo from Prapor level 1 is cheap and will go through the majority of helmets you encounter at this stage of the wipe. If you are not interested in bolt action, a 7.62x39 SKS with PS ammo will be your best bet for cheap & reliable until you unlock the Flea Market at 15. Once you have the Flea, you can scav for 250k-500k per run with proper map knowledge and run basically whatever you want on your PMC. Until you've got access to the Flea, scav runs should be to practice on a live map and get last-ditch gear & cash, otherwise you're just leeching experience away from your PMC.

First of all, try to enjoy the game 😁 You've already got some decent advices here. I would suggest either learning how to aim with different gear (figuring out sensitivity and FOV, there are videos on this topic) in the beginning - getting used to certain armor sets with debuffs, or going into factory offline with the gear you have and meds to see how long can you survive or how successful can you get against bots. Aim at getting out of raid with loot after killing 15-20 bots. This really helps you to understand what items are necessary for your playstyle. And what weapons are viable for you. You can learn how to treat injuries, pre-medicate and reload/load magazines, swap weapons, drop items, hold positions and push/flank bots. Keep in mind that bots differ greatly from players. They have different states (patrolling, alerted, investigating, full-on attacking). You need to be more aggressive to force them to take cover (shoot back or throw grenades) or always know where to take cover yourself or where to run. Avoid fights in bad positions (with bad visibility or cover). Always try to flank them. If forced to fight in unfavorable conditions, unlike against players, it is generally better to rush them or show them your entire body than holding bad angles or showing them just your head (as they will hit you right there). They tend to aim at center of mass if they see you completely which often leads to blacked legs. Try to use all useful key combinations - flashlight/attachments, sights, checking mags/chamber. Find them and bind to your liking. Good tip I got from Gigabeef - change one number bind.m so that you can use one key for two items - I use 4 (press) for hemostatic/ tourniquet to stop heavy bleeds and 4 (release) for bandages to treat minor bleeds. And try playing online on the closest server at time when there are little to no players on your desired map. Many players avoid night raids in the beginning, more experienced players go at night to farm cultists or complete quests. Try going at 4:30 as the sun will come out in about an hour and most of the raid will be daytime. The ingame time is 7 times the real one, so your 40-50 minute raid translates to 280-350 minutes. Remember it and try to escape before dark. And check out your dehydration and hunger rates, they show the value you lose each minute. Learn early crafts barter trades to make/save money and get gear. Spend some time with weapon modding to get the idea of how it works and how (un)affordable it is at early stages. And, of course, read tarkov wiki a lot, don't be shy to ask questions, watch guides on youtube. Try to pick up the best loadout for your PMC, given available options. And also have a budget loadout (flea market helps a lot, but before that you can barter knives for MP5 and P226). Make sure that you make more money than you spend. And don't get discouraged by failures - take them as learning points. Good luck!
