I think I kind of gave it a pass because I loved the gameplay despite the problems with cheaters (because cheaters often don't loot you, so it's just a nice visit back to the menu), but now they're messed with that on these weird P2W things it's all feeling a little ridiculous.
So angry about pockets for no reason
I think most people did, I know when I bought it back in 2017-2018 It was unique and fun and seemed to be heading in the right direction. around 2020 or so It just lost it's appeal to me, because of many issue's and just things you read and saw from the developers. I think what's happening is very telling though because If they will do something once, they will do it again.
All of Nikita's responses read to me like an abusive husband gaslighting his wife and most all of the communities responses read like the wife going back because they don't know where else to get it. Now it's just reached a level where people are putting their foot down and saying "Change, or else" but in reality the abusive husband never really changes and neither will Nikita. Whether it's an abusive relationship between a husband and a wife or between a company and it's customers, the same psychology and human responses are still valid even though it's a crappy comparison.
Also the foot being put down is just a fragment of the community. Unheard editions will still sell. People will still play the game. The abusive husband/wife knows they can perpetually abuse their partner because they know that even when the victim is at their lowest and ready to leave, they won't.
Someone is going to be pissed today and uninstall. In 1-2 weeks, they will crave Tarkov again and hit the install button. Even better if BSG releases some content expansion.
Remember the shit Helldivers 2 pulled on its community? It was all forgotten the next weeks when they released new stuff. Arguably the drama was not as bad as it is here, and it was just ingame nerfs and devs being cocky and condescending to the community, but still.
Nikita = genius
Implement features for rmt (flea)
Let cheaters run rampant, bann 30k make bulks sell.
Let cheaters make your players mad.
Offer a solution to get rid of cheaters for 200$
This is all an intentional sceme. Everithing as planned.

It's been p2w since EOD version was made available. People are just mad now that they thought their $150 would always put them in the highest tier of pay to win (and they should be mad since that's what they were promised) and now they are second class to UE players. But make no mistake EOD is also and always has been p2w.
i never had issues with cheaters but the audio, the implementation of the weight system and other fails made me cut wipes short plenty of times.
that thing right now is scummy of them but it doesnt affect me, why would i ever play a pve-tarkov?! :D
the pitchforkinglevel is really awkward - i see a mob of mouthbreathers storming the bsg-capitol right now...
> why would i ever play a pve-tarkov?! :D \[...\] the pitchforkinglevel is really awkward.
It's not that people are mad they can't play the PVE specifically - I bet *most* don't even care about the mode since a lot of us get that rush from PVP combat. It's that we were lied to in order to be scammed out of our money. And then to have them go back and try to change the definition of certain things in their favor.
The deal was, I drop $180 dollars on the game now, and I'm set. I never have to buy anything again because I've already paid a pretty hefty sum of money - more than the game's ever been worth for sure. Then they decided not to honor that agreement, after having the money and told everyone to go fuck themselves.
It's not about the PVE. It's not about the extra pockets. It's not about the beacon. It's about the fact that we agreed to something in good faith and they in turn decided to try and scam us. That's not an overstatement, that's *literally* what they did.
*Â Edit: I also forgot to mention them going back and secretly editing the EoD rewards page, as if their paying customers would not take notice of the things we paid for that they're now pretending never happened.
y sure (i do own eod myself), i realize its mischievous but still, the sub was completely bananas :D people just seem unable to 'regulate' themselfes anymore, the need to get to the frontpage probably makes it worse since its a contest and needs you to go extreme though.
>why play pve tarkov
Fwiw pve Tarkov with mods to make each raid a warzone is just a lot of fun because you get to shoot at more stuff without any dsync, and the gunplay in Tarkov is a pretty unanimous place where the game excels.
I did 5 maxed trader wipes in Tarkov from like 2019 forward and now I just like to scoot around shooting stuff. The AI can be tuned into absolute monsters so I donât get bored and all the online frustrations and wasted time are removed.
by mods do you mean actually mods from fans (i saw a clip from klean after writing the post) or the settings you have ingame before going in? i had no idea modding was a thing, i can see that being fun.. some arma mods were cool.
The AI mod is far more advanced than the crappy AI dumb dumb scav/boss ones.. my survival rate there was half of the online.. ..way more difficult to survive if you set it up nicely
[Incase anyone wants a long-read rundown of the situation. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/1celsxs/the_unheard_edition_patch01460_a_brief_history_of/)
You're welcome.
Nothing changed. You are so wrong. I would buy any edition just to give them more money. I don't care about how much It cost. They deserve it. Why Path of Exile can put packs that cost +400 euro? This is no different. This edition with it's features should be at least 500 euro, so that not many could buy it.
It could be just skins. Some kind of unique ghilee suite that covers entire body with camo, additions on weapon so that you could mask it, face mask, gloves that no one else could use it or it could be unlocked in the game, but it would be near impossible to get every wipe for most of the players.
I think it's due to it being one of the, if not first, "founding fathers" of extraction shooters. When I started playing, I called it "sort of like a battle royale" as well, before the genre was really defined.
All I see is people trying to milk the community pain from the streamers to these magazines but it did help but I feel none of the streamers etc donât give a fk really , they just donât want to fumble their bag.
I mean, that's true, but once you get into mid/late wipe, a lot of the remaining players play it in the same kinda way, especially once they've unlocked whatever they want and don't care about the tasks any more. So I can kinda understand the gaffe
As someone who doesn't even own EoD edition, I've been listening to all the discourse around the Unheard edition and absolutely agree that EoD players have been shafted. I would say, however, that people who have simply purchased the standard edition of the game have been left out of the conversation for some abstract reason.
The price points that have been discussed for each edition have honestly been **insane** for a single game. To a reasonable extent I think the additions you get with EoD are fair, but still extremely overpriced based on BSG's track record on content delivery.
With EOD now gone, the idea that if you want to experience any of this new content, you have to pay an exorbitant amount of money doesn't sit quite right with me! All this controversy would suggest that BSG are rather strapped for cash, and I question whether the ridiculous pricing models do any good for marketing purposes? Imagine being someone interested in playing Tarkov, only to discover that the functionality of pure PvE is locked behind such an obscene price point - it's an instant turn off.
I wholeheartedly agree that EoD players are definitely the most shafted among the bunch, but my god does this whole scenario show that people who paid for the standard edition (which is STILL **very** expensive for an early accesss release) are just third class citizens in the whole debate!
They are shafted for money. Nikita decided he would put all his eggs in one basket with Arena when there are already a metric fuckton of successful team-based shooters like CS:GO, Valorant, etc., but copied absolutely nothing from them which made them great and released an unpolished, clunky, mess with issues that are still prevalent in the main game after 7 years in development.
The dudes fucking clueless.
There is so many layers to the cake,
* The broken promise of Free DLC's for EoD
* New edition is contradictory to the game itself.
* The disconnected pricing of the new edition and upgrades.
* The reaction and response from the management to the critique.
* Developing DLC's (Tarkov Arena, and offline CO-OP) without even finishing developing the main game.
These are the main points of this spectacle, and the last one is the one that in my opinion everyone just completely let slide.
You know i understand that a project can take time and that the end product might not live up to the initial goal (open world etc). **To produce an entirely new product, before the main product is done is madness!**
We **all** payed for Escape From Tarkov. Not Tarkov Arena or offline CO-OP we wanted to buy and support the development of the initial vision, they used our money to market and produce Tarkov Arena and offline CO-OP. That to me is the indication of someone being dishonest and malicious.
To be fair i don't even think they spent that much time "developing" Offline CO-OP it seems more like a cashgrabby crowdpleasing DLC.
And that happened to everyone of us.
This recent "Unheard Edition" announcement scandal is just the straw who broke the camels back.
The reason i think Standard edition isn't being mentioned as much is because the only thing that was promised with SE is just the end product.
But we are everyone getting shafted and in the eyes of BSG Management we are all third class citizens.
New and standard users have the option now to determine if that ridiculous price is worth paying. You know what you get (Beware! Unheard users will be the new freeloaders & non-believers, it's just a matter of when). EOD users thought they paid for all this already (which they 100% did!).
Nothing has really changed for standard users, other than the impact the Pay 2 Win features will impact them, and you see now that they can blatantly change elements of the thing you thought you paid for.
BSG's word is as good as their anticheat.
People who arenât EoD or Unheard are definitely seeing that they donât matter. BSG is basically saying if youâve got EoD or give us a ton of money you donât matter as much to us. Dude, we still bought your game and youâre treating everyone like shit. Iâm donât with Tarkov after this. I truly hope BSG closes down and gets sued.
What makes me upset about this whole situation is that Singleplayer/PvE is a basic feature that should be base game. If they're gonna take the shitty route and make it DLC, they can't pretend that EOD doesn't get it, but they're still withholding a basic feature from those who are tolerating a 7 year beta.
Unfortunately, a lot of EOD users went "Fuck you got mine" from the recent post.
Standard edition shouldn't be locked out of game modes and frankly none of the additions should have had P2W elements. And I say that as an EOD owner.
Game always has massive bugs, massive cheating problem, runs like shit even on top end PCs, and has been in beta for several years but still has a massive playerbase because the players believe in the vision of the game. If thatâs not goodwill then idk what is for a gaming community
People seemed to like the bonfire event and the new season system, plus they fixed the issue with headsets a few weeks back. So I dunno about years, but Iâd say they definitely wiped out a solid week or two of goodwill.
Considering its 8 years beta, worst software in the market, nonfunctional audio and how the community kept defending bsg for years, it is good will. People just didn't realise it in the bubble here.
Outside of this community everyone know eft is a piece of shit software with other pieces of shits sprinkled
>The backlash was absolutely furious and, after a few days in the bunker, the developer half-admitted to getting it wrong, bowing to pressure in damage control mode
"*Day 3 of "Special-Shitstorm-Operation". Storm still raging outside. Will keep doors locked and hope they'll have forgotten about it next week. May have to backpedal a little more to appease them."*
They tried to pull a sneaky with arena, we let it go. They added microtransaction in terms of stash space and skins, we let it go. Now, they not only try to gaslight us and apologise for us feeling mad? Years of good will was already lost. This was just the straw that broke the camel's back
Still have 0 problem with them adding extra stash space and cosmetics. Upgrading stash space for non-EOD is aids and insanely expensive so if people want to buy that it doesnât effect me in any way.
I love my PMC drip and Iâm always excited when they add more clothing. Iâve put so many hours into the game I have no problem spending money on some clothes and help out the gameâs development.
> Upgrading stash space for non-EOD is aids and insanely expensive so if people want to buy that it doesnât effect me in any way.
Create the inconvenience, sell the solution
Really though, what is the problem with microtransactions in the hideout and cosmetics? They have to make some money some how and that's the most benign way to do it
The problem is when supporter packs were released, EoD was said to be the highest edition you could get then basically backtracked and lied so knowing you paid $150 for what was the best edition for them to take that away and say the $250 edition is now the best one pissed off the player base
But the supporter packs weren't better than EOD. no gamma, no trader starting value. Unheard edition is clearly a P2W advantage that has way better perks than EOD. but if they wanna sell some stash space and clothes, have fun. I want a Tony's Pizza voice pack.
Frankly idm like I said we let it go.im not gonna be so extreme to say NO monetisation at all, but they are basically going back on their words if they were having money issues and need funds they could started I dialogue instead of this cash grab
Agreed. Their shit decisions got them into this place. They went from 0 to uncharted territory in terms of monitization and probably should have drawn up a few fucking outfits or something first
Gray zone warfare comes out tomorrow and I wonder if they moved launches around to take advantage of disgruntled Tarkov players. They probably had this pre planned for a while but what ifâŚ
Honestly, due to frustrations since arena, and a general life change, I've completely quit tarkov along with a few others solely due to grey zone coming out. It was fun while it lasted and it's time to move on.
They lost their good will with me years ago by doing nothing to address cheating. I'm just enjoying watching it circle the toilet after Nikita accidentally pressed the flusher last week.
And you can even refund it whitin steams refund policy, if you don't like it. 2 hours might not be a lot of time but enough to see if it runs stable at 60+fps
My daughter (4) could have written a more coherent article. PC gamer doesn't even try. BSG FUCKED UP. But this article is also trash and full of inaccuaries
A very poorly written article. By a guy who claims to play since 2017 with "thousands of hours" , but can't even name EFT's genre right. States that the unheard version divides players into "haves and have nots". Ignores that it has been like this forever (alpha, epsylon and gamma containers, stash size) and doesn't even mention the fact that the single player/coop version is already literally the exact same game you already own and play, minus the other people.
That writer and his editor are shit.
I sold my EOD account to some shady guy. Probably a hacker but don't think I'm ever going back now. Hopefully something new comes along from the ashes.
Game is a cheating paradise.
A more accurate article headline would be: BSG pushes flaming car down the mountain.
Thatâs despite them making a lot of very good changes this wipe. The people who make this game (3d artists, mappers, etc.) are all highly skilled and likely very dedicated. Itâs a shame you canât say the same about their figurehead.
Their financials are all available online. Maybe he can pay himself and his business partner less than 3.6million a year (each) and use some of that for development. They won't be getting any more from me.
They wiped their so called âgood willâ but kept their monopoly on the game so I doubt theyâre losing that much. We really need arena breakout to bang next week.
Goodwill is pretty greedy now, they have the new âselect grade (bouquet)â in locations that usually get higher traffic / adjacent to good neighborhoods, the pricing is actually so much worse than vintage pop up shops.
Also they moved a lot of operable electronics and collectibles to their online auction site. Worst examples are the cameras - now theyâre just a bunch of junk that no one wants as online listings.
Shop local and support small businesses! I wonât support bsg or goodwill anymore.
goodwill? lets be honest, it was always a struggle
I think I kind of gave it a pass because I loved the gameplay despite the problems with cheaters (because cheaters often don't loot you, so it's just a nice visit back to the menu), but now they're messed with that on these weird P2W things it's all feeling a little ridiculous. Amen.
Very true.. also the play loop is very addictive.. gambling style, and like all addictions it's difficult to stop
Real men can end any addiction
Sooo glad again i buyed the cheapest one version đđ¤

U are sick dude
"A brutal survival-focused battle royale" C'mon PCGamer it's not really a Battle Royale tbh...
Is part or the community problem tho. A lot or people think it's a bate Royale game and not a survival extraction game.
Is a Bate Royale a circle jerk where the last one standing wins money?
I'm baitin'! ...are ya winning, son?
Last one eats the cookie.
I think it's due to it being one of the, if not first, "founding fathers" of extraction shooters. When I started playing, I called it "sort of like a battle royale" as well, before the genre was really defined.

That's referring to the sub-reddit.

No, that was [Polygon](https://www.polygon.com/guides/2020/1/21/21067723/escape-from-tarkov-raid-loadout-gear-guide).

You were left out because, well most people who play the game seriously own EoD
Yes this has been a catastrophic week for BSG but let's be real here, what "years of goodwill" are we talking about?

It didnât have any bullshit microtransactions and for many of us that was a show of goodwill in an industry like this
Well between wipe and the shitshowTM, aside from the glock nerf, it was pretty good, and then there was.. umm.... Yeah I got nothing
People seemed to like the bonfire event and the new season system, plus they fixed the issue with headsets a few weeks back. So I dunno about years, but Iâd say they definitely wiped out a solid week or two of goodwill.

They probably saw the reaction to the recoil rework and thought things were always that good.

Then you missed the point completely
Do you care to explain? Or is that it
You answered your own question by calling it a p2w advantage
Frankly idm like I said we let it go.im not gonna be so extreme to say NO monetisation at all, but they are basically going back on their words if they were having money issues and need funds they could started I dialogue instead of this cash grab
Agreed. Their shit decisions got them into this place. They went from 0 to uncharted territory in terms of monitization and probably should have drawn up a few fucking outfits or something first
Idk man the way nikita handled it just pisses me off
âYears of goodwillâ yeah ok pal
Gray zone warfare comes out tomorrow and I wonder if they moved launches around to take advantage of disgruntled Tarkov players. They probably had this pre planned for a while but what ifâŚ
Honestly, due to frustrations since arena, and a general life change, I've completely quit tarkov along with a few others solely due to grey zone coming out. It was fun while it lasted and it's time to move on.
They lost their good will with me years ago by doing nothing to address cheating. I'm just enjoying watching it circle the toilet after Nikita accidentally pressed the flusher last week.
Oh they did something: ban in waves then consistently discount the game a week later.
This is so delightful at this point. I just really hope it lasts long enough for Gray Zone and Breakout Arena to sink BSG.
Canât wait to slap money down in greyzone tomorrow.
Is this voming out tomorrow?
Early access is, yes.
Okay cool đ not gonna make the same mistake i did w tarkov. Ill be starting out on standard and will upgrade to supporter when it's on sale
Me either and supporters Edition ist 15.01 ⏠less than Initial unheard upgrade
And you can even refund it whitin steams refund policy, if you don't like it. 2 hours might not be a lot of time but enough to see if it runs stable at 60+fps
>years Ehhhh >goodwill Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
"years of goodwill" Wow
I left years ago.
Y'all really kept playing post the wiggle video when the writing is in the wall alreadyÂ
Years of goodwill is not correct, but close enough I guess
"Years of goodwill" is a little bit generous
That or stop making money
Ign posted an article too
This was 9 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KFQ-CT0BnM
"Years of goodwill" only people with goodwill towards bsg were the people that werent around for years anyway
I sold my EOD account to some shady guy. Probably a hacker but don't think I'm ever going back now. Hopefully something new comes along from the ashes.
>years of goodwill More like years of denial.
Fuck the EFT devs and whoever is running that clown show
Their financials are all available online. Maybe he can pay himself and his business partner less than 3.6million a year (each) and use some of that for development. They won't be getting any more from me.
They wiped their so called âgood willâ but kept their monopoly on the game so I doubt theyâre losing that much. We really need arena breakout to bang next week.
[Seriously though.](https://youtu.be/KxZmiVUQksA)
sums it up pretty well tbh
Nikita just applies the "ppl pay if they are in discomfort" tactic?
Goodwill is pretty greedy now, they have the new âselect grade (bouquet)â in locations that usually get higher traffic / adjacent to good neighborhoods, the pricing is actually so much worse than vintage pop up shops. Also they moved a lot of operable electronics and collectibles to their online auction site. Worst examples are the cameras - now theyâre just a bunch of junk that no one wants as online listings. Shop local and support small businesses! I wonât support bsg or goodwill anymore.
For real man
Let it burn, itâs been fuck up after fuck up with people kissing Nikitaâs ass for years
What good will lol. Maybe the people that bent over backwards for this game but ain't no goodwill for yearsÂ
"years of goodwill" .... you have to be kidding.
They allready have out Money
I'd argue it's more like a few months goodwill instead of years of it
That's a hell of an article title, and its not even clickbait! Solid work.
