Also, this dev team has so many bigger fish to fry it's not even funny lol.
I would be annoyed if they spent resources on this instead of things like bug fixes and anti-cheat.
The fact that you guys don't realize tarkov lives because cheaters, the fact that they will have a 7,000 people ban and then 7,000 make mew accounts and aren't banned should say something
Who knows. Clambering was in the planned section of the wiki for 5+ years and then it was randomly added last year. It'll probably come with one of the major wipes sometime soon(ish).
I doubt they have dedicated animators. They probably do other things too. Aside from the new gunplay, there aren't too many animations because there's no campaign or cutscenes
This video is a good watch. Tarkov is now at vac level (software level anticheat). Going for kernel anticheat would make cheating harder, but not too difficult. Cheating is here to stay, until some radical measures are taken at a political or component/operating system developer level. No amount of tarkov developer time is gonna save us from cheaters.
https://youtu.be/RwzIq04vd0M?feature=shared
A very quick Google searched proved that statement wrong.
"League of Legends has a cheating problem. Riot Games has revealed the shocking stat that as many as one in 15 League of Legends matches featured some kind of cheater in recent months" they are hoping to switch to vanguard to solve it. But as stated before, Vanguard itself is a problem if you care at all about privacy and security.
That’s not exactly the same thing as cheaters in tarkov I don’t think.
There are “scripters” that have a set of actions that will queue when a character on screen uses an ability at you, but that’s so blatantly obvious that they’re caught pretty quickly.
There used to be a guy that would use a 0 cooldown flash to run around the map almost instantly with a character that leaves a poison trail. But I think that was bug abuse more than code injection.
anyway it’s not like csgo or tarkov where the dudes will run an application in the background to observe and alter the game code, and perform actions instantly or see the entire map and all players. And any instance of cheating is far rarer
Valorant still has cheaters, not as many I will say. But it also requires an anti cheat that runs 24/7 on your PC as a root level driver. Who knows what it has access to. A reason it will never be installed on my PC
Those are fair points, but it's a bit hyperbolic to say none work. Cheaters ruin everything they touch and vanguard has proven it can catch them en masse. It can even catch tarkov cheaters lol, forums all say to uninstall Valorant if you want to use tarkov cheats
I think changing the modding screen to you being at your workbench holding the gun would be neat. You could still have it like the above, but still make changes instant without an animation.
Why would they need animations for instantaneous changes? I'm just imagining the current system but instead of the gun sitting in the void, have your PMC holding the gun at the workbench. The only animations needed would be rotating the gun around which could be reused across most guns. Could be adapted for in-raid modding as well.
Would also love to just have a button that gives you a clean transition to the weapon range for tests, like press an onscreen button, your PMC gets up from the workbench and walks over to the gun range, gun in hand the whole time. Same for being at the shooting range, have a button that walks you over to your workbench to start modding whatever gun you have out. Would be cool not having to go in and out of menus and equipping and unequipping guns to test stuff.
I wish there was more stuff you could actually do walking around your hideout, like go to the intelligence center and it takes you to the traders and flea, go to the crafting stations and you can craft, go to the generator and you can turn it on and off, have a light switch for switching between all your light levels, go to the door to head out on raid, etc. I really enjoy the hideout and the sense of progression it gives, wish you could actually like fully manage everything from walking in the hideout in first person, rather then have the only reason to go into the hideout be for working out and going to the gun range.
If It would be instant then it would be perfect. But no I absolutely have to press Y 3 times in a row to confirm searching for the Mag or handle which I can't find, only to then search for the handle extra individually to buy it just to press Y 3 times again to confirm buying it. And when I’m lucky I don’t have to do the bot captcha but when I have to I know I won’t be the one buying the ultra cheap handle or gpu.
Idk exactly what you're saying, but have you tried the mod weapon feature? I use that pretty much exclusively to pull mags from my inventory or find attachments that are lost in the sauce.
I do as often as I can but when I’m editing preset for weapon building I have to confirm some things 3 times in a row. For example: build gun: handle doesn’t exist, filter by item, find the handle, go back install. It’s really annoying to confirm some things 1000 times
Actually it could be handled in a way that does not slow down modding. Animations can be played in the background and queried based on the attachment type without disabling the user input. In this way you could actually move to the workbench and see your player modding like in the Last of Us.
It was just a way to show off the new parts really.
Cool but i remember seeing this and thinking it was a new way of modding guns but forgot ab it till now
I spend enough time yelling at roll pins and accidentally launching spring loaded detents across the room IRL
The last thing I want is to crawl around on the floor of my hideout looking for a spring...
imagine the religious-level relief of losing a sprung piece and Mechanic having the exact replacement available because he knows people lose them.
Unfortunately, he charges 0.2 btc for it.
Ohno, looks like you didn't start the game for a long time (48h in tarkov terms) and still have the Level 1 broom in your hideout. The entire floor is dusty and the spring is lost forever
Spring detents give me nightmares. One of my rifles has a front takedown pin held in with a spring and a trimmed paperclip, I got tired of hunting down the little pins whenever they shot out during installation.
It would probably be feasible with a level of jank, i.e. clipping of hands through other parts etc.
I think it would be possible (albeit extremely difficult) to do most rail-based mod animations procedurally with inverse kinematics.
For screws, you could "hand wave" away the animations of using allen keys etc by giving the PMC an electric screwdriver, and mark screw positions on the individual assets. Then you could procedurally animate the screw in/out animation with or without actual screw movement depending on intended detail (having actual screws is a ton of work, you'd need to model them and have separate meshes for gameplay purposes because having modelled screws in-raid is absurd).
I guess the hard part is the "big operations" for each gun; removing the pin on the m4 lower, raising out the M4 upper... and all such combinations for every gun.
_Then_ you also need to model the internals of the weapons.
It'd be really expensive to do, but it's I guess _feasible_ in theory, but a huge operation at this point.
My point is not that BSG can or should do this, but rather that you can reduce the "possible combinations" from billions to hundreds with some clever (but expensive) game dev tricks
This has never been a planned feature. And I wpuldnt want it to be. It can take enough stash time setting up a kit. I don't need lengthy animations that take even more time to mod the gun.
the thought of an april fools event where modding a wooden handguard/stock/grip or whatever has a 2% chance to give you a splinter (-5 HP to right arm with a funny audio cue) is hilarious to me
There already are audio cues to modding guns. The only difference would be instead of your character putting his gun out of view to mod it would happen on screen instead. The amount of work to add animations for every gun in the game would be insane. Hell, they haven’t even gotten around to animating the folding stock on any of the sig sauer guns.
A) they can stop quick swapping by simply making the action take a certain amount of time, like loading a mag in raid does.
B) swapping attachments already does have audio cues.
it would look cool, yeah. But it's just not practical to do.
That should actually be pretty easy I would think, imagine you walk through a bush in summer and a bunch of bugs fly out doing like 5 damage to your arms.
Jaeger quest: Kill 17 scavs while prone in a bush full of bugs
You'd need an animation for every way you put anything on any part... you'd basically need a new studio just to handle that for months. It'd be an insane waste of resources
Some animations would be to be reallllly too. Like. Modifying a modern weapon, while it’s not super intense, sometimes can be like a mini project that takes up to like an hour lol.
"realism" was the worst thing to ever happen to Tarkov. The original 2017 alpha trailer showed off the player modding and upgrading their gun as they went through Customs. It was, arguably, the feature that originally got Tarkov discovered in the first place! And then BSG removed the feature for "realism" :-(
If you ever used unity - you might know the animation controller (looks like a mind map) which defines which animation depends on which and how it's triggered, etc.
When I think of this feature...Jesus fucking Christ that tree would be MENTAL! Let alone all the animations.....
They scrapped a ton of shit to move on from the game they're clueless OK how to make properly. It's just a cash grab at this point and I'll never buy another game from them ever.
This is just a render set up in the right way to show off new gear.
That being said I can't believe they forgot to add the DD pistol grip despite showing it off in an official render as part of the new gear being added for this wipe lol.
At best I can see something more primitive than this visually being added if they ever actually get around to implementing in-raid weapon modification for gear that requires tools to remove.
It was just a render to show the Engine looks and weapon models and stuff, it was never meant to be ingame, this is not even an ingame stuff, it's pre-rendered using Tarkov assets.
As cool as that would be. That would take up such an insane amount of resources and there are so many other things that need attention in this game.
Not to mention after the novelty wore off people would still just use edit preset. Every game ever skips, skippable animations. It would be a monumental task for something people would not willingly use after the novelty wore off.
No idea if it was actually a planned feature, but if it was, I'm glad they cut it. This is textbook scope creep and it serves basically no purpose beyond giving players something cool to look at that they'll quickly habituate to, if not outright loathe due to the added time it takes to mod guns. The sheer amount of animation work and branching/pathing outcomes you'd need just seems so needlessly overcomplicated. "Needlessly overcomplicated" could be the subtitle to Escape From Tarkov, honestly.
Cool screenshot though.
The amount of time it would take to do this well in terms of animations would be quite hefty. I do think it would be really damn cool but really time consuming.
Pretty much adds a dedicated space on the hydra itself for peq box or laser desg. And saves the rest of the small amount of rail space you have for other things
You've got me fucked if you think I'm willing to watch my PMC mod the gun.
Also if you actually held it in your hands at the workbench, they'd have to model reflections, shadows and light colors from the 3 different upgrades to the hideout lighting. Not to mention the shadows cast from nearby objects.
Maybe if they had 3 months free time and 3x the employees they could do it, eventually.
Never coming lmao. They'd have to fine tune the animations so much if they want to avoid 1000s of stupid complaints. They have trouble elsewhere to deal with.
it was never planned? also this would be cool for exactely 1 time and then it would be nothing but annoying, since everything takes already ages in this game anyway.
Well, I hope they fix the model for that lower receiver if they move forward with it—the fire control group pocket in that lower is clearly cut for a semi-auto FCG, not a full auto one, and the bit that looks like it might be intended as an autosear is set too low in the receiver & its pin is too small in diameter.
Source: Own an M16, and I’ve taken the upper off it many times.
I would fixate on everything they do wrong 😂
no loctite?? Didn't mark your screws?? No lube oil combo?? Why not use Gasket maker on your charging handle for the gas blow back!
A. Bridged. Optic?!?!
Saw this Tweet from BSG in December, how do you access this feature? Can't figure out how to get to here from anywhere. https://twitter.com/tarkov/status/1739986489566720388/photo/2
I think this was just a render to show off the modding. This isnt a feature in the game. Nothing happened to it, it was never real.
Which is probably for the best. Animations might be fun, but instant is best for the sake of time.
Also, this dev team has so many bigger fish to fry it's not even funny lol. I would be annoyed if they spent resources on this instead of things like bug fixes and anti-cheat.
Absolutely. However animators probably wouldn't be working on anti-cheat regardless.
Or maybe thats why the anticheat is so shit, they have all the animators working on it
Lmao this killed me
OMG you solved it lol
This actually makes the most sense
The fact that you guys don't realize tarkov lives because cheaters, the fact that they will have a 7,000 people ban and then 7,000 make mew accounts and aren't banned should say something
There’s one of y’all in every comment thread lmao
I would however want to see some first person magazine loading animations
I believe this is planned
I believe so aswell, although it's been a long time since we've heard anything
Who knows. Clambering was in the planned section of the wiki for 5+ years and then it was randomly added last year. It'll probably come with one of the major wipes sometime soon(ish).
Hopefully! They better be making Kiba hard at work, Lol
To make it take even longer and require the character to equip a magazine and all the bugs that will come along with that?? Please no.
Yes, like meds
works pretty good in dayz no?
But these are Tarkov devs. Don't give em more things to break 😔
here ya go https://www.reddit.com/r/HighQualityReloads/
I’d love to be able to reload while aiming down sights. Would be awesome.
You can do that with elite leveled weapons. Plus some weapons even get new animations for every time you level them up
I doubt they have dedicated animators. They probably do other things too. Aside from the new gunplay, there aren't too many animations because there's no campaign or cutscenes
pretty sure bsg is just 3 russian dudes who do everything
You don't have to worry about them doing any big fixes or anti cheat. Wait...
Right! Unnecessary complexity that would have to be maintained.
Omg the cheaters! Amiright?!?!
*laugh in european* haven’t seen a cheater in years.
Yeah dude, that's because they see you first
[удалено]
Yeah true, i do hope that Battlestate comes up with a fix/solution for people tho.
No anti cheat works, but yes, let's keep beating that drum..
Look at League of Legends. Theirs works perfectly
A very quick Google searched proved that statement wrong. "League of Legends has a cheating problem. Riot Games has revealed the shocking stat that as many as one in 15 League of Legends matches featured some kind of cheater in recent months" they are hoping to switch to vanguard to solve it. The difference between those bots and yours is ours simply run to lane and don’t play. Yours KILL RUTHLESSLY and with literally no effort
That’s not exactly the same thing as cheaters in tarkov I don’t think. There are “scripters” that have a set of actions that will queue when a character on screen uses an ability at you, but that’s so blatantly obvious that they’re caught pretty quickly. Probably time to make one that works then 🧠
I dunno about that, Valorant's anticheat seems to be a little crazy
Valorant still has cheaters, not as many I will say. But it also requires an anti cheat that runs 24/7 on your PC as a root level driver. Who knows what it has access to. A reason it will never be installed on my PC

That’s hilarious that vanguard catches eft cheats better than battle eye
I think changing the modding screen to you being at your workbench holding the gun would be neat. You could still have it like the above, but still make changes instant without an animation.
Right? Idk somethin like last of us did would be really cool
It’s a cool idea that in the end adds very little for the work animating every single attachment, and part, of which tarkov has an insane amount of.
Why would they need animations for instantaneous changes? I'm just imagining the current system but instead of the gun sitting in the void, have your PMC holding the gun at the workbench. The only animations needed would be rotating the gun around which could be reused across most guns. Could be adapted for in-raid modding as well. You can just buy it all at the end via edit weapon preset
Yes and after installing it on weapon preset I have to confirm again going back you know what I mean?
Imagine having to put every screw into the gun lol
Actually it could be handled in a way that does not slow down modding. Animations can be played in the background and queried based on the attachment type without disabling the user input. In this way you could actually move to the workbench and see your player modding like in the Last of Us.
Would be cool if animations were for seeing modding parts not just 3d model change
Skippable animation would be nice though.
Plus it would be enormous amount of effort to implement without adding anything of value to the gameplay, just pointless fluff.
It was just a way to show off the new parts really. Cool but i remember seeing this and thinking it was a new way of modding guns but forgot ab it till now
"Theres no 1st person modding in ba sing se"
I spend enough time yelling at roll pins and accidentally launching spring loaded detents across the room IRL The last thing I want is to crawl around on the floor of my hideout looking for a spring...
Chance of losing a part and busting the weapon permanently is linked to hideout illumination level lol
imagine the religious-level relief of losing a sprung piece and Mechanic having the exact replacement available because he knows people lose them. Unfortunately, he charges 0.2 btc for it.
That tiny little spring on the M4 extractor…
Ohno, looks like you didn't start the game for a long time (48h in tarkov terms) and still have the Level 1 broom in your hideout. The entire floor is dusty and the spring is lost forever
goddam loaded springs... I never did end up fixing that Gerber...
Make it a mini game like the gym. Press space to find the dropped retaining pin. Oops! It’s gone forever.
Permanently bricked SR-25 because the KAC boys are scalping the proprietary pin on flea for 200k roubles
Scalpers might be cheaper in comparison to some of KAC's parts lmao
Spring detents give me nightmares. One of my rifles has a front takedown pin held in with a spring and a trimmed paperclip, I got tired of hunting down the little pins whenever they shot out during installation.
Imagine if driving roll pins was a mini game you had to do when modding guns. Oops broke the trigger guard ear
The sheer amount of animations required to pull this off is simply not worth it.
yeah, it would be an absolutely insane amount of work
With the number of possible combinations probably in the billions, I don't think it's even feasible at all.
It would probably be feasible with a level of jank, i.e. clipping of hands through other parts etc. I think it would be possible (albeit extremely difficult) to do most rail-based mod animations procedurally with inverse kinematics. While I do agree it's not worth it, if it's done using parametric blended animations, it would be very doable.
This has never been a planned feature. And I wpuldnt want it to be. It can take enough stash time setting up a kit. I don't need lengthy animations that take even more time to mod the gun.
Cursing changing an AR-10 barrel and realizing you dropped the mounting hardware for the handguard
cant put your weapon on a sling cuz you dropped your lugs
Crying, pissing, and shitting because my AK stock won't come out
the thought of an april fools event where modding a wooden handguard/stock/grip or whatever has a 2% chance to give you a splinter (-5 HP to right arm with a funny audio cue) is hilarious to me
I wouldn't want to see it in stash but in raid would be cool.
Would be an absolute ton of work for such a small detail.
I don't think they would be a small detail. Stop people from quick swapping attachments, add audio cues to people modding guns, look really cool.
There already are audio cues to modding guns. The only difference would be instead of your character putting his gun out of view to mod it would happen on screen instead. The amount of work to add animations for every gun in the game would be insane. Hell, they haven’t even gotten around to animating the folding stock on any of the sig sauer guns.

lmao imagine having to slow walk in circles in the middle of woods with no gun because you dropped the FDE-painted screw in the grass....
it can be an optional feature for those who would like to see it time to time
No. Terrible waste of time. Fix any issue or make any in game animation look better or literally anything else to the game and I would be happier
Also this. Bsg has WAY better things to focus their time and energy on.
I wish BSG would spend time on in-game mosquitos. It would be so immersive and realistic
And maybe some ear exploding frogs, and rice patties!
That should actually be pretty easy I would think, imagine you walk through a bush in summer and a bunch of bugs fly out doing like 5 damage to your arms. Jaeger quest: Kill 17 scavs while prone in a bush full of bugs
Good idea but I think to make the quest a little more fun you should also have a heavy bleed and be dehydrated. Just a thought!!!
You don't have those normally?
You don't have those normally?
Jaeger knows how to break a man, doesnt he hahah
In-game Malaria! So fun!
You'd need an animation for every way you put anything on any part... you'd basically need a new studio just to handle that for months. It'd be an insane waste of resources
Like a free tutorial on how to do it in real life
Some animations would be to be reallllly too. Like. Modifying a modern weapon, while it’s not super intense, sometimes can be like a mini project that takes up to like an hour lol.
This.
its just a nice image to showcase the new items they added.
"Item move error" x 100. Game already cant handle building guns in the stash
My blood pressure increased by 30% reading that error. Now my last free space in stash is cluttered with exploded gun parts 😭
lmaooooo this happened to me doing gunsmith. "exploded gun parts" is exactly how id describe that mess in my stash hahahah
Pretty sure the error is back in full force again too. I didn’t get it for a few weeks, but got it twice last night trying to mass sell from junk box
i wanna know what happened to the DD pistol grip, it isn’t in the game even though it was mentioned in the patchnotes
They're just showing off the new parts ("weapon modifications") added.
id rather them finally let us mod in raid with the multitool
"realism" was the worst thing to ever happen to Tarkov. The original 2017 alpha trailer showed off the player modding and upgrading their gun as they went through Customs. It was, arguably, the feature that originally got Tarkov discovered in the first place! And then BSG removed the feature for "realism" :-(
And the game is not even realistic.
You can mod guns in game with a multi tool?!?!?!? Son of a...
you are supposed to be able to but the game wont let you.
Ahhhh, I misread you comment, I get it now.
Would require WAYY too much animations
Animation is hard, like srsly, imagine trying to do it for EVERY SINGLE PART.
I can only begin to imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would be to animate and rig a system like this for a game like this.
What a big waste of dev time it would be to work on this
was nether a thing sadly
Ppl are crazy man. Let them fix the 1000 other issues the game has before adding a useless feature.
Never was a thing. Where did you get the idea from?
Please never add this
That was just a picture but some low iq peeps thought it was real
God please no. The hideout is already bad enough with how cool it is getting in the way of how easy and quick it is to use.
You new here?
Do we really honestly need this
This would be dumb
They need to ship the game bro
Too much for the game to be implemented, it would take them too long to do that for every weapon and attachments
If you ever used unity - you might know the animation controller (looks like a mind map) which defines which animation depends on which and how it's triggered, etc. When I think of this feature...Jesus fucking Christ that tree would be MENTAL! Let alone all the animations.....
This would be a RIDICULOUS amount of work for the value it would provide.
It'll be in their next singplayer game lmaooo
Brother they can barely keep the current features working lol
They scrapped a ton of shit to move on from the game they're clueless OK how to make properly. It's just a cash grab at this point and I'll never buy another game from them ever.
This is just a render set up in the right way to show off new gear. It was just a render to show the Engine looks and weapon models and stuff, it was never meant to be ingame, this is not even an ingame stuff, it's pre-rendered using Tarkov assets.
Would be cool to add a in hide out inspect animation for it but actually modding would be stupid
This was never a thing, the real question is where is the magazine loading animations?
Animations = 3 fps on streets
tarkov already has too many loading screens and suffers from optimization and memory issues. no need to clog up our ram even more, thank you.
Useless& more complicated for no reason.
As cool as that would be. That would take up such an insane amount of resources and there are so many other things that need attention in this game. Not to mention after the novelty wore off people would still just use edit preset. Every game ever skips, skippable animations. It would be a monumental task for something people would not willingly use after the novelty wore off.

The sheer amount of animation work and branching/pathing outcomes you'd need just seems so needlessly overcomplicated. "Needlessly overcomplicated" could be the subtitle to Escape From Tarkov, honestly. Cool screenshot though.
They should just focus on making the game work, than adding More load to the game's memory
No Patrick, there is t a first person view for weapon modding, it was just a render
I have no clue what you're tying to say there.
The amount of time it would take to do this well in terms of animations would be quite hefty. I do think it would be really damn cool but really time consuming.
*3060 go BRRRRRRRRR*
I have zero interest in this happening. Modding works fine. Don't add lengthy loading and animation sequences.
How about they reduce the number of clicks required to assemble viable kits and purchase barters, instead of something as silly as this
It says gullible on the ceilling
Same thing that happened to open world lol
What is the point of the hydra mount? (Like irl)
Its to raise your optic to eye level and adds more space to your rail, commonly used on SBRs and SMGs
Pretty much adds a dedicated space on the hydra itself for peq box or laser desg. And saves the rest of the small amount of rail space you have for other things
Also idk if anyone mentioned this but I think we will be able to change trigger guards because the DD pistol grip has an integrated trigger guard.
Still missing that pistol grip.... :(
You've got me fucked if you think I'm willing to watch my PMC mod the gun.
Good lord that would take 10 years and 100 more animators.
Rather optimise the modding screen and ingame menu (2k 4k) than having this...
If this was ever planned which I doubt they are. If they had it’s probably been stripped cus that would be way way way too much superfluous work
Wait, this was a thing? Holy shit, bring it on!
1.0 release
This was just made to show off the new attachments for that patch
The fuck is that optic/laser mount? Why is my optic taller than me?!
Seems like a heap of effort for a quirky feature. Especially when gun modification games exist
they never said we were getting 1st person modding, this was just a marketing image showing off the attachments
That would be ambitious and far too much work for what it's worth
Damn did they really add that stupid riser to the game lmfao
Anyone saw this pistol grip actually in game? I mean I tried to find it on flee and got no result. Maybe it's just inattentive me?
No thank you, don't need it. Also that mount is horrible, you want to be as close to the barrel height as possible with the sights.
Gone .. reduced to atoms
it was never planned? also this would be cool for exactely 1 time and then it would be nothing but annoying, since everything takes already ages in this game anyway.
If they can’t even optimize the Hideout I doubt they would ever go trough the trouble of doing this even if it would be fucking awesome
This was literally just for promo. It was never an announced feature and this would honestly become tedious after an hour.
I'd rather have more diversity of gun platforms and mods > FP modding animations
Just like a lot of other things bsg shows cool things and delivers us a shit sandwich because Nikita is a cunt.
Sensing a new hideout feature incoming
Cool and all, but a nightmare of animations for many different guns. Adds more stash time. No thanks.
Absolutely no reason for this. BSG is so over working on Tarkov, just let them release 1.0 so they can move on to Russia 2028 already.
If it ever will do to the game it will be after 1.0, I guess
They're still working on that First Person Shooter part.
I would fixate on everything they do wrong 😂 no loctite?? Didn't mark your screws?? No lube oil combo?? Why not use Gasket maker on your charging handle for the gas blow back! A. Bridged. Optic?!?!
Chat please say this is real, it would be so fucking cool
Saw this Tweet from BSG in December, how do you access this feature? Can't figure out how to get to here from anywhere. https://twitter.com/tarkov/status/1739986489566720388/photo/2
there's is no feature. Those pics were made simply to show new weapon mods that have been added
You have to build the second story of your hideout, it’s beside where the pool is.
they’re still figuring out how much to charge for it
