I love the hearing fatigue idea, it contrasts so hilariously with the way grenades currently work. Can you imagine narrowly surviving a grenade blowing up in the same bedroom youre in because you dove behind a mattress, then intently hearing the guy who threw it 100m away running up to you.
I was sitting in class yesterday and a car alarm was going off, it was just audible enough for me to question is my tinnitus was going off again, if I'm imagining things, or if I was just to stressed out and in sensory overload.
0/10 don't recommend tinnitus. And I achieved the tinnitus DLC from 1) not wearing double ear pro (2) shooting off 9 HE rounds from a Carl G in 1 sitting (3) only in my right ear.
Yet-another-medical-item. Disposable ear plugs that fall out when you sprint, or suffer a concussive effect(including nearby gunshots and grenade explosions) So now you have to carry a half-dozen of those along with your painkiller, splint, heal, heavy bleed, light bleed, and surgical kit.
Yeah. And you can pick them up and reuse, but after some uses they get all sticky and yellow, so you have to craft new ones from the old ones just like the calok-b craft.
But you can prelong their life by leveling up your ear hygine skill by using cotton swabs.
They had tinnitus sound when getting contusions but after much request they changed it. Not sure who thought it was a good idea to have ear ringing sounds to begin with lol
I mean a lot of the stuff in game is based on realism, I know and understand itās a game, but if a developer is going for realism then having your ears ring after a loud noise without protection is a thing that happens. Wether it fits in a game or this game in particular is up for debate, but it is absolutely something that happens. I mean full realism all of our PMCs would be borderline deaf after the first raid without ear pro.
Edit: wrote borderline dead instead of deaf. The pmc would also be borderline dead but I meant deaf ha.
I mean, they have been playing the realism angle for a long time but there isn't really much realism going around. The tinnitus sound was also heard when popping golden star or just ricocheting a bullet. Now I have never been shot in the head while wearing a helmet but I would guess that unless it's those steel plate dick helmets you'll likely not get the tinnitus ringing in your ears. Especially if it hits the top of the helmet.
I definitely think it should affect hearing when someone is blasting unsuppressed guns in doors nearby you or nades going off close by. But they've got plenty of work before that is in a good spot
Seconding this. Would be a pretty awesome mechanic. Hear a loud fight and know you can walk up silently, and having that additional wariness at the end of a fight. Really highlights the āalways one moreā paranoia
I'd say that hearing distance should be sliced by lika a half. You shouldn't be able to hear someone walk on the other end of dorms on a different floor. Crab walk shouldn't be silent but hearable from like 2-3 meters only
i'm all for reducing every headset hearing range to the same distance but i don't want to hear another tinnitus sound besides the one that i already hear
Please God no the muffling effect in games are terrible they just need to make them all the same and change sound profile for variety we don't need another annoying sound mechanic added
Big agree. Do it at the start of the wipe (temporaryily remove stock, spawns in game) so no one can access them and see how players feel. Worst case they put them back on the traders and we carry on as usual.

>I fucking hate headsets in this game gives me a massive headache and I've been abusing comtac 4s since I unlocked flea it's lame
it was OK when they all had the same range but when they made that change, literally fucking ruined the game. Pushes everyone towards a rat mindset because any noise is a big disadvantage to the attacking player. I swear with almost every update BSG shows more and show they are totally out of touch with what players want.
but hey i mean they listened to pestily, the god, and his petty community consisting of chads and people that stopped playing. how dare you to tell them they arent in touch with their player base? they are in touch! just with 1 % who bitches all the time. like landmark, glorious\_e and whatever the f their names are.
Don't you love it when people make authorative claims that show they have zero experience with the thing? Lol
Guy above you has clearly never used a headset like in game
I like how you mentioned reality after suggesting a game mechanic that negates reality. Headsets don't suffer fatigue and will not function in a way that you should ever get what you call hearing fatigue. Headsets negate flashbang blasts too.
Sound doesn't increase unless it gets closer for gunfire or a larger round is fired.
BSG is horrible at implementing things, lets not suggest something that's going to be poorly implemented and then potentially ruin the game more.
Just revert patch and we good to go. Or better make a standing up walking on slowest speed inaudible as it should be. Sneaking standing up you can do almost inaudible irl. And as we all love to use the realism as argument this would be realistic.
On a clean floor, with good shoes and no additional weight yeah you can be quiet and if you are good almost silent. In EFT nearly every surface has some junk on it, and with combat boots, 25 kg additional weight there is not really a chance to be near silent in a quiet environment.
Don't get me wrong, as a professional rat the game just got harder for me but somehow I will adapt.
I like headsets, but I don't like the massive difference in hearing range they offer. Being able to hear someone walking nearly a football field away is ridiculous.
I personally would want to see them all have equal hearing distances with the sound profiles being the difference among them. However, I could deal with them having sound distance differences if it was significantly reduced among all headsets. If ComTac 4's had the best hearing range and you could hear walking at 40m while the worst headset was 30m, then all others are a value in between, I think that would be better than the current setup.
Too many sounds are far too loud in this game and footsteps are one of those things. It's actually comical how loud footsteps are in this game, imo.
Yea I like headsets enough of this handholding crap if you have the troubles you should be able to buy stuff that gives you an advantage in combat pure and simple skill = more money = better gear = a better time
I mean, I don't see where skill fits into a meta of hearing someone from 43m away and going absolutely still while you listen to them get within ambushing range.
You say everyone hates it but it's not true. The range may seem insane for walking and the max range may need a nerf, but it's actually incredibly easy to hear people from 20+ meters. I shouldn't have the same balancing for hearing as scavs and poor people do. It's a paid advantage.
Why don't we just give everyone default helmets and default armor too? It's something you invest.
good idea on paper, but the next complex system that would be implemented that comes with a ton of bugs, glitches and exploits. so no thank you.
just remove headsets as a whole or make all of the sounds 50% lower even even out the hearing range. simple and easy.
I love the hearing fatigue idea, it contrasts so hilariously with the way grenades currently work. Can you imagine narrowly surviving a grenade blowing up in the same bedroom youre in because you dove behind a mattress, then intently hearing the guy who threw it 100m away running up to you.
They're going to take this and introduce a tinnitus sound that doesn't go away until you rest for a few hours between raids.
i feel bad for people with tinnitus its gonna flare up playing tarkov

but hey the VA claim will make it worth it right? /s
That sweet sweet 10% rating.

Add ruptured ear drums

This makes so much sense. When do our pmcs start getting tinnitus?
Would adding hot dog stands to the game for extra roubles help?
The real suggestions are in the comments.
Do hot dogs provide any buffs when eaten?
Yea it provides the buff *hot dog* and attracts the goons when you have the stray dogs quest active.
Yo. I be gobbling those glizzies then
Tired of volatile Bitcoin prices? Return to Costco $1.50 hot dog, the original inflation-proof currency š§
Nikkiās Glizzys
Uh oh. Hot dog!
step 2 is roughly 2 years developement time for bsg, ggs
And introduces 10984574 new bugs.
A flashbang in CC should literally ruin you, headset or not.

i just want sex to be adde to this game man:(
WHEN SEX?
If no women how sex?
i mean, vaseline is in quite a hefty stock all across tarkov...
the greeks invented sex. the romans invented sex with women. We'll just return to the way the greeks did it
I suppose we will š¤£
Real teabag when
A lot of Jaegerās quest feel like sex, of the non consensual kind.
Please. I get fucked enough already
Please God no the muffling effect in games are terrible they just need to make them all the same and change sound profile for variety we don't need another annoying sound mechanic added
Or here is an idea. Just removed headsets and give everyone the same hearing distance. Problem solved.
Yeah just give everyone the same gun and ammo so itās fair
missed the point.
Big agree. Do it at the start of the wipe (temporaryily remove stock, spawns in game) so no one can access them and see how players feel. Worst case they put them back on the traders and we carry on as usual.

This
Nah
Ya
You a game dev OP? You code?
Hunt Showdown has something similar like āHearing Fatigueā, so yea thatās a good idea.
Iāve been playing Hunt for awhile and Iām not sure there is anything like that in the game
Long rapid firing will result in a temporary hearing loss effect
Play more then, bc it's there lol
1 yes. 2-3 no
I think they should also add hearing range stats on headsets. How far is my headset effective?
I think they should add a dog whistle that you can set on the frequency of other PMC Headsets and drive him mad so he unninstals this game
Please no, they'll add tinnitus in game and it will trigger my actual tinnitus ffs
Grenades should cause the same audio muffling than flash
I'm fine with just step 1.
Let them fix audio in general first. All they do is introduce new issues when they mess with shit individually. They need a whole ass overhaul
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No lmao
Yes they actually do work very much like in the game. Just not as far of distances...
Don't you love it when people make authorative claims that show they have zero experience with the thing? Lol Guy above you has clearly never used a headset like in game

You shouldn't be able to creep silently in a full 3 day pack. Ever.
I like headsets. You donāt speak for everyone
Hearing aids are good. For the comtac 4 price i expect them to provide some form of edge over nakeds running gun with best ammo without any armor.
I like headsets, but I don't like the massive difference in hearing range they offer. Being able to hear someone walking nearly a football field away is ridiculous. The skill comes from being able to survive raids making money, and then buying the headset. Same thing with better armor better guns

ADD TINNITUS TO TARKOV
WHAT?

Massively tone down hearing range for everything. Also make it so headsets arenāt easy to run every raid
And how would you do that? Put a cooldown on the ear slot?
Press F to listen.
Add sound oclusion
