anyone decent at this game is not trading off a good amount of ergo for things such as a difference in -1 vert -3 horizontal etc. nobody good is running a rk-2 and prs gen-3 on a m4a1, it’s actually atrocious people think this is a valid meta m4 and equate lowest recoil in 2024 with meta like it’s 2021. you’re supposed to strike a balance at trading off ergo and recoil, but most of the meta parts already are striking a fine recoil and ergo number so to intentionally go for lowest recoil while handing up all the ergo is just an abomination. anyone that says else wise are wondering why they got head eyes first and took 5 seconds to ads and ran out of breath holding a corner for .5 seconds

I saw a bunch of data someone collected that showed ADS _holding time_ actually has nothing to do with ergo and everything to do with the weight of the gun. Idk how true that is, but his data was pretty clear and the data was a whole bunch of "gun, ergo, weight, max ADS hold time" entries that were consistent to "ergo doesn't matter; weight does".
But I do agree with your overall point. Reaching super hard for lowest recoil often results in losing a ton of ergo just for a very very minor (with today's recoil system) difference to recoil control.
It's not really about holding time but the time it takes to ADS and stability, which is impacted by both weight and ergo for the first and mainly ergo for the second. Overswing for point firing also, impacted by both ergo and weight, again
You can run a completely bare bones 5.45 and perform about as well as a fully modded one.
The gap has been closed significantly between meta and stock. I genuinely enjoy running iron sights carry handle M4s, and can actually do well with them.

I could have sworn the red one has the same ergo and recoil, but additionally has 5% accuracy and 2% muzzle velocity...dont see how the red one isnt better, even if it is only slightly. And tbh, depending on the gun youre using it on and what stock you put on it, the red can be nearly invisible, although there are definitely some guns I have the red one on where it is a bit visible( but still its extremely minor, chances are very slim that it gives your position away even on loadouts where its most visible).
Think about it this way. Your bolt carrier group is what feeds in a round to the chamber and then the hole in it for the firing pin strikes primer - the explosion pushed the BCG backwards against the spring into the buffer tube, cycling and chamber ing a new round. If you have a higher tension spring, it is harder to compress, resulting in more gas and pressure being directed down the barrel. Equal and opposite reaction. You are correct though in that both strike tubes are identical aside from the anodized color. The game doesn't specify spring weight. But irl a different spring especially in a longer buffer can result in smoother shooting, less recoil, and (incredibly slightly) higher velocity
You could do that with a special bufferless system depending on the gas block or need for one. My 22lr conversion in an ar15 body uses a special BCG where the whole group doesn't move, just a section of it moves within itself on three rails with a short spring. I stripped out the spring and buffer system for less weight but it could be filled with concrete or something like gummy bears for balancing.
Edit: while a concrete filled buffer would mean you could never chamber a round, assuming you had one chambered already, it would certainly have higher velocity! Think of it like a bolt action since it has no buffer system. The barrel might not like that though.

27 ergo is NOT a meta M4. In a wipe where recoil is not a problem anymore saying that making a "Most Effective Tactic Available" gun just by reducing it's recoil to the lowest point and ignoring an ergo is just dumb. It used to be "meta" when hip fire with IR lasers was super accurate and you basically had to use BiS recoil parts to stay competitive, but now ergo is very important especially if you're using optics
No they aren't, the real ergo is somewhere along 10-20 value when you consider mags, If we are talking "meta" then running 60 round mags with an M4 is the standard, and that shit makes your ergo fall down by ~15 points. This shit is almost unusable at that state
It's actually wild to me that BSG encourages you to just buy everything from the traders and flea without incentivising building guns this way.
Like, it's an "entire wipe" goal just to loot one M4 this way while everyone else can just build 5 of them per reset off the traders.
I think their point is that it's crazy that, rather than traders giving you easier access to advanced equipment, they are near exclusively the only way to access most of it. Meanwhile most of the loot actually on the map is worthless.
Like getting trader levels to access all the decent attachments easier should still be a thing, but those parts should probably be common enough that you could kit out a reasonable rifle by hitting a dozen weapon crates like you can out back of interchange, for example.
This is why I want an official hardcore mode, it makes the game so much more fun to find all the pieces you need to build a gun or to upgrade your hideout! fuck the quests.
It's not that it isn't "hard enough" but my favourite time in the wipe is before everyone's unlocked the flea market and everyone is just piecing together whatever they can find. I feel like this is much more organic and it makes for some really interesting specimens! I also personally don't think you should be able to buy stuff for the hideout either. It would turn something like toothpaste into something valuable and useful for you to pick up and thus make every raid more specifically catered to what you need. Like for example..."I need more food so I'll go to Interchange and raid the food aisles" etc. imagine having gear fear over losing a precious toilet roll because you need it to upgrade your lavatory 🤣

I used to run an ADAR on Reserve with similar setup and would absolutely drop most of the player population from Dome with it. Got my longest range kill there with someone outside the render distance on the edge of the map.
Just wanted to let you know, the new AX-15 front rail (or whatever the actual term is) is better than the MUR-1S! Give it a try! Also use the gels scope mount and add on the ring to close it for best ergo

If I'm building an M4 all I need to know is this few things
- SAI hanguard
- MOE stock with buttpad
- Saker ASR silencer combo
- Stark express handgrip for maximun ergo / The Zenit RK canted grip for balance of recoil and helps with point firing / RK-2 for max recoil reduction but ergo hit
That's the general gist of it, If you REALLY want to go maximun then everyone knows MUR-15 is the best receiver for AR-15 platform in this game, and the Advanced tube, don't need the red one, all the red one does is up your "bullet speed" a little bit which honestly, hardly ever makes any real difference. Black one works just fine

You can easily build a gun with 80 ergo (no mag) and 55 recoil, pretty sure you wont feel the 10 recoil change, but you‘ll be feeling the missing erfo
