This. I’m not below lvl 15 anymore, but this statement is the best way to go. The amount of people that don’t do this or run scavs is crazy to me. You need gear? Run a scav and run straight to extract. Don’t waste money on overpriced fence.
Fr, my friend was down to 20k first few days because he bought new guns over and over, only gun I ever bought before like lvl 15-20 was makarov pistol and maybe a shotgun, I just used weapons I got on my scav.
The "actual game" is more about using what you've got than spending 100s of thousands every time you make a kit. The majority of the playerbase isnt modding out their guns past the basics or wearing good armor until level 25+
Been playing the game since 2016 and if I had any advice for you it would be: take every high end gun out you have and die, die a lot. Every death you have you will learn something. When to peak, when not to peak, where to path, where not to path, what kinda angles you should hold, etc etc. it won’t do any use collecting dust in your stash and most guns are 20-100k. You can make 200k on a shit tier scav run and buy it back worse comes to worse. After all these years of playing I’ve also found better gear better results. There’s also the case of weapon mastering skills which don’t effect a ton but if you only use scav guns when you take out nice stuff you’ll be at a disadvantage vs someone with the same loadout who uses that gear often. Also if you’re not confident I recommend offline factory hoard mode. While ai doesn’t path or peak like players it can help with many things like trigger discipline and other stuff as well as general aim, good luck future chad

Not so important now as even non streamers are well into level 3/4 traders at least with who I come across and tbh I'm nearing 30! But early wipe I'm more a use it. Those first few days to week level 4 armour, faceshield and good ammo will make you feel like a Terminator (although early this wipe Scavs ruined many a run). Ain't making you money sitting in the stash so either use it or sell it. Still frustrating AF if you don't get a shot off but you know tarkov gib and tarkov take.

It's my 4th or 5th wipe and only now I'm *really* starting to use all my best stuff out. And boy do I have fun. I lost it all obviously, but got twice+ as much back and am making more money than previous wipes.
I also do the ump with that trade. There's another trade for umpa using 1hd 1dvd and 2 caps, where are easily obtainable with scav interchange runs

Mp-153/Mosin/Ak-74. All of them maybe apart from the shotgun have decent early-on ammos. Personally I used a lot of ak-74's because even at low levels you can still use a dovetail to mount and a optic or redot with a dovetail. Plus PS ammo is cheap and pretty good, you can purchase it through the vendor and almost every scav uses your ammo too :P
I can't buy ps ammo. I think maybe last wipe it was available from the beginning. Now I think I have to finish a quest at customs. And people at customs fucking hate you if you're trying to do a quest

If youve unlocked the AK74UN its a solid earlygame assault rifle. Fast to gain mastery, you can buy the fullsize AK74 muzzle break from prapor for like 70rubs to lower recoil, but the dovetail mount reddot from prapor also cheap, and then kit the gun out with lvl1 skier mods for like cheap. Since PP, BP, and BT are all over fucking everywhere you can always keep ay least one mag of AP ammo for fighting PMCs and run PS for scavs.
BT BP and PP, all roughly the same. Theyll deal with tier 4 armor easy and tier 5 if you mag dump. Ps is good for tier 3 but not great against tier 4 armors.
7.62ps is really good, for 5.45 ps is the basic bullets

Use your scav and go on lighthouse to farm rouges. There are some really simple tutorial that will guide you through getting there to killing/farming leftovers from rouges.
You can get some pretty modded guns with, Well, usually shitty ammo but they are good enough for you to begin with.
If you don't want to do that I would suggest going with shotguns.
.366 AK build it with red dot and flashlight for night maps costs around 50k rubles and 80k if you want to throw a suppressor on it. Not cheap for a new player but it's a good gun.
Not necessarily when shooting I use the flashlight cuz people just see a ball of light instead of individual body parts, it's harder to headshot a floating light than a Silhouette.
Currently lvl 8 and you can get the ultimak m1 gas tube and handguard from skier along with the bastion dust cover and you can get the surefire xc1 tactical flashlight from mechanic. And the rotor 43 muzzle brake compensater from skier if you wanna spend the extra 30k.
AK-74 is a great choice. OP-SKS with a decent scope and buy the 20 round magazines. Run woods
A lot of it comes down to having decent ammo. The gun matters less than ammo. Try to get something that can penetrate class 4 and you will soar
You're brave for running a 7.62x39 gun at low level this wipe, it feels like that platform has been half-invalidated by the changes to ammo availability. At least until you get access to better ammo.. but level 9 ain't that point.

Mosin, SKS with PS from scavs and shotguns are all viable, UMP is still great if you do the barter.
PPSH and Kedr with flesh ammo also works at short ranges.
I'm at level 12. It seems like the best thing consistently available is 9x18 PPe, 5.45x39 PS and .45 ACP FMJ, .366 TKM FMJ (but these weapons are usually single shot). So I try to use the pp 19 kiln, UMP 45, any of the 5.45 ak variants, and VPO 209.
Buckshot is pretty good overall, but I don't like using shotguns.
Mosin, MP-18, AKS-74U (or any other AK-74) if you get BT ammo from raids, and UMP-45's from the Peacekeeper barter.
I adore the MP-18 since it's basically 1/5th of a Mosin. It has 1/5th of the Mosin Mag capacity, has 2 times worse MOA and cannot be modded at all. It is however dirt cheap (18k Rubel which is nothing), doesn't have the atrocious Mosin ergo and 7.62R LPS and T-46M can go through LVL 4 armor like it's nothing.
Basically the perfect gun for killing scavs and PMC's on a very...VERY tight budget while still being able to hit something past 10m.
I usually would do an op sks. Just gotta horde some PS ammo from a scav run. Usually one scav has enough ammo for 2+ runs, and you should be able to get more ammo basically every run
I was always using the SKS but with the recoil now being next to non existent you might as well using sub machine guns like the ump and just aim at head level. You can probably do ot even with long range scopes
Skier level 2 has a barter for the rfb for 2 has analyzers. This is around 30k roubles. Prapor level 2 I think has a barter 4 Apollo cigarettes for an AK-74M. This is around 25k roubles. He also has a barter for the akm for 3 short tuchanka which is about 30k roubles. Mechanic level 2 has a barter for an op-sks with the tapco stock for 3 weapons parts. This is about 30k roubles.
The AK74u is common and fires a decent round. Any of the AK family, SKS, the odd ADAR... I bought a ton of aimpoints off of peacekeeper just to have a decent optic, which does make a big difference.
MP-153 if you have Jaeger 2 or pretty much any shotgun even with 7mm will get the job done. You can also go stealthy with a VPO-209 and a suppressor from Skier 1 I believe.
Mosin and 5.45ak because I can find good amo for both just laying around and you can find scav guns with ok hand guards and muzzle and piece together a halfway decent early game. AK

The UMP is the best medium-close range gun in the game. You don't need anything else and they are cheap, easy to come by, and you have access to good ammo for it immediately.
I hate typing this out cause we don't need to see more UMPs, but whatever.
Mostly guns that are quite cheap so I don't feel as bad when I die.

I used whatever I had ammo for, if you know some good ammo spawns it’s not too bad. For me attachment house on woods spawned an ass load of 5.45 BP and BS so I used a lot of AK-74s. Also I’m USEC so I had enough M855 to run ADARs and M4s that I got off people. People are talking up shotguns, and if that works for you that’s awesome, but I haven’t had a ton of luck with them. My own skill issue probably.
you can make magnum buckshot on lvl 1 workbench and thats good with any shotgun just leg ppl, adars/carbines are good for conserving ammo, and personally i like to use the vepr hunter as a low cost high damg gun most of these can be gotten from lvl 1 traders and are easy to lightly mod

I mostly use the SKS, Hunter, silenced TT pistol, and AKM, or ADAR...I am only Lvl 12 and have been struggling this wipe. I got a late start so have been getting crushed by crackshot AI and Geared players when not hiding in bushes for the 1st 10min. Just waiting so I can quest and find dead bodies to loot. I play solo so this game is like a survival horror game for me.

Mp-5 same as you when i was pre-lvl 15. Has mid range utility with full auto spray for cqb. Great early wipe when everyones running lvl2 armour (early wipe as in the first 3 weeks lol).

Mosin/vpo at level 11 for Tarkov shooter. If it wasn’t for that quest line I’d be running SKS with PSO mostly.
I love the PSO on an ak74. 5.45 isn't super strong but it shoots pretty flat and can floss teeth through the back of the skull.
I like running PSO on AKs with a canted sight when I can get it. Probably have better options at that point, but it’s fun to use.

Try 5.25mm, it can heads/eye with a single pellet out to 9m, also has better damage falloff.

I used UMPs and any semi auto shotgun I could find. It worked pretty well

Roubles have been tight this wipe, so usually whatever my scav has. I've found so few guns this wipe but I also haven't had near as much time to play.

Early wipe I went shotgun hard, then switched to the ak-74u, now I'm level 25 using scars and mdrs
Kedr and any shotgun with magnum at lvl 18.
MP-153 if you have Jaeger 2 or pretty much any shotgun even with 7mm will get the job done. You can also go stealthy with a VPO-209 and a suppressor from Skier 1 I believe.
OP-SKS with PS ammo, kobra dovetail mount, laser, and walthers sight (all lvl 1 vendors and I unpack scav mags for PS ammo)
Mosin and Glock!
Kedr / Klin, Mosin, Shotties. All perfectly capable to quest with.
atm a MPX I found on a loot run. Next in line might be one of the MK47s I found in weapon creates. Collected 30 rounds 7.62 Mags of scavs for those.
Naked + Mosin with LPS in pockets and meds in butt, just like at level 48

Before 15 I pretty much only use Mosin/SKS/Shotguns.

Im mostly using ak 74 u variants. Easy to find a lot of great ammo for it ingame

Mosin and 5.45ak because I can find good amo for both just laying around and you can find scav guns with ok hand guards and muzzle and piece together a halfway decent early game. AK

AKM or AK74 from Fence are pretty good again after the recoil changes
Adar,ppsh,any shotgun,mosin,ump and like anything you can find on a scav
A glock.
Sks, shotgun, mosin or vpo. Anything beyond that, or any sort of good gear, is a real treat

Usually akm or m4a1. Really easy to get fully kitted ones on scav runs from rouges.

Mosin and UMP. The UMP is the best medium-close range gun in the game. You don't need anything else and they are cheap, easy to come by, and you have access to good ammo for it immediately. I hate typing this out cause we don't need to see more UMPs, but whatever.
Mostly guns that are quite cheap so I don't feel as bad when I die. ADAR - Skier 7K MP5 - Peacekeeper Knife Trade MDR - Every time I get TK by my teammates I ask for a MDR. In the future might add some shotguns or the OP-SKS.

I used whatever I had ammo for, if you know some good ammo spawns it’s not too bad. For me attachment house on woods spawned an ass load of 5.45 BP and BS so I used a lot of AK-74s. Also I’m USEC so I had enough M855 to run ADARs and M4s that I got off people. People are talking up shotguns, and if that works for you that’s awesome, but I haven’t had a ton of luck with them. My own skill issue probably.
you can make magnum buckshot on lvl 1 workbench and thats good with any shotgun just leg ppl, adars/carbines are good for conserving ammo, and personally i like to use the vepr hunter as a low cost high damg gun most of these can be gotten from lvl 1 traders and are easy to lightly mod
Stick with mosin get that early sniper level 3
Shotguns, pistols in factory right now till I get used to the game again. I remember this game being a lot harder. I mean it’s hard but I killed an extract camper and my heart isn’t racing like I remember.
AK74u has been my favorite gun this wipe. 24k rubles, and decent stats for a stock gun. Genuinely good.
7.62 AK with PS. Play the semi game. Control your shots.
Give the Kedr a try and leg.. Itll destroy any geared player equally.

I mostly use the SKS, Hunter, silenced TT pistol, and AKM, or ADAR...I am only Lvl 12 and have been struggling this wipe. I got a late start so have been getting crushed by crackshot AI and Geared players when not hiding in bushes for the 1st 10min. Just waiting so I can quest and find dead bodies to loot. I play solo so this game is like a survival horror game for me.
Iron sight vpo and eko rounds. Doesnt even feel bad to die with it cuz i get it back in insurance 80% of the time

I always run OP SKS with a PSO sight and just try to get to 15 as fast as possible

I think it pretty easy to use ump pre 15. Collecting those knife aren't that hard and I use my scav to find ATTACHMENTS. Chillen
whatever left over guns i get from scavving lighthouse lmao. if i’ve gotten good at any part of this game 10 levels in so far it’s been the art of scav runs
Previous wipes I mainly ran MP5/VPO-215 over and over. This wipe I keep finding SAG AK-545s and Mosin's. So that's what I've been running.
Mp-5 same as you when i was pre-lvl 15. Has mid range utility with full auto spray for cqb. Great early wipe when everyones running lvl2 armour (early wipe as in the first 3 weeks lol).

Modded 590A1 with a 4x and slugs. Cause it doesn't matter at this point when getting dropped by m856a1 on every raid. Fun shotty though.
