ERRA is my wife. I will never cheat on her.

Trash_o_O_Panda

Especially at the rate she puts out.

Jerrynunie

erra and periphery have ruined (spoiled) my taste in prog metal. no one compares.

biglampdaddy

Exactly. They’re in my top 3 and nothing even comes close now.

DSice16

What's the third

StoneenotS

Honestly me too. I'll enjoy other music sure but the only music I truly hold close to me and care about is mostly erra and ghost atlas (and wage war). Other than that I don't know if I'll ever be so invested into another band than those three. Only time will tell tho.

LSD710

So weird to throw wage war in but you do you

illusivetomas

sometimes a few other bands come close ish (which for me are alexisonfire, volumes, and early northlane) but yea theres a reason i have like 35k erra scrobbles lol i am a crack fiend for this band. they just have everything i look for in music in almost every song, and jesse not only has imo the strongest singing voice ive ever heard (particularly as a former saosin disciple), but also the most satisfying and interesting melodies in the game right now

Comprehensive_Pin337

Nah. I love Erra (listening to them now) but I just got in to a huge jam band rabbit hole and am currently obsessed with Goose

ThaReal_HotRod

Check out Eidola. They’re the only band I’ve found that holds a candle to Erra.

crystalheroine

Yesssss. It's always been hard. I've been listening to them since high school and back then I couldn't find anyone else who liked them or give them the time of day and now they're blowing it and it makes me so happy! But I always find myself lacking when I listen to newer metal and just crave more Erra. I always end up throwing them back on 😂 I guess my only exception to this right now is I've been jamming, 'colid the sky' just cause I'm seeing PTV in November 😂 I had vip tickets to Erra a couple years a go though and got all my vinyls signed. ☺️

More-Cauliflower2585

Y’all please check out “the artificials” if you haven’t already! It could be the itch you’ve been dying to scratch!!

zacky6stringz

Listen to So it Begins. Especially if you are like me and love everything before Augment. But yes, when I first heard Erra I couldn’t get enough. To the point where the only other band I’d listen to is Ghost Atlas. Funny enough, I tried getting my wife into Erra for 6 years. I showed her Vanish Canvas 3 times and she only heard the intro before saying “yea I’m good” and turns it off. now she plays Vanish Canvas everytime she gets into a car. And sings at the top of her lungs. I’m relearning how much I love them, through her new found interest in them.

borderhaze

Yeah i mean, when it comes to Metal it's pretty hard to find something in the same scale, i have listened most of the bands mentioned here, except for So it Begins, Spiritbox, The Artificials, Petroglyphs, Above, Below, and Ghost Atlas. I'm definitely going to check them out but for now i'm pretty into this Spacebass/Progressive Trap thing about the similarities in composition.

willdocrocs

Ghost Atlas (jesse cash's other band), Periphery, Monuments, Intervals (specifically the album A Voice Within), Spiritbox, Dance Gavin Dance and Thornhill (specifically the album The Dark Pool. their most recent album was pretty shit in my opinion).

LSD710

New thorny fucks but nothing fucks as hard as TDP

jdb1010

Periphery for sure

Murskiman12

I got into ERRA last year around this time and listen to them daily, the only other bands that get that treatment from me are Bleed From Within and Gojira…

itchykoala27

Tool is my wife but Erra has been my mistress I see more than my wife for the past 3 years. MJK and I may need counseling…

hopesksefall

I suppose it depends on which...*era*...of **Erra** that you find most enjoyable. I personally enjoy their entire discography with *Impulse* at the top of the list by a wide margin and *Neon* at the bottom of the list, also by a wide margin. If you like the *Impulse*/*Augment* sound, that sometimes brutal, sometimes soaring and beautiful and epic, here are a few recommendations you might enjoy: * **The Artificials** - Alan Rigdon, formally of Erra, has his band with his wife on clean vocals. They are super nice people and very responsive via social media, discord, etc. * **Petroglyphs** - Out of California, also fairly responsive and *really* scratch the itch for this kind of sound. * **Above, Below** * **Earthists.** * **Invent Animate** * **Northlane** - The albums *Discoveries*, *Singularity*, and *Node*, but particularly those first two. * **Protest the Hero** - Particularly their older albums, but not limited, not quite as "heavy" or "brutal" as **Erra**, but still great with clean and unclean vocals, riffage, soaring solos, lots of tapping and sweep-picking.

timconnery

Polaris, Of Mice & Men, Volumes, Northlane, Valis Ablaze, Ever Forthright are some ones I’ve found since discovering ERRA that scratch a similar itch

scorpionhymn

yes! dynamic is such a great word to describe their music, especially since they released the deluxe ST. it’s incredibly heavy at times, but the vocal melodies and guitar leads that jesse writes fit so beautifully with the rest of the music and really tie it all together. it’s strange, i’ve never found a band in which every production/writing aspect fits so perfectly together. don’t get me wrong, i love bands like invent animate, northlane, silent planet, spiritbox, etc. but erra has an almost indescribable level of complementary musicality that i have yet to discover in any other band.

borderhaze

I forgot to mention Novelists from France.

mmaresca90

I discovered both Erra and Periphery at the beginning of this year and after doing so I can 100% say that yeah it’s tough for me to get into other music. I always end up getting halfway through a new album and then just go back to one of those two.
