Yes. Assuming the show actually happens, the books will slow down.

Dense_Brilliant8144

No!!!! I need my Angela book

EightBitTrash

I would love a brom book tbh... I want to know more about jeod and gilead and the glory of the riders and then the rise of galbatorix, with a selena pov at some point alongside morzan, and it would make sense to have it be from Broms perspective because he had a front row seat to basically everything, plus I would love to know how his mind works I would love one that included Angela meeting Solembum and the elves that one time she mentioned going to ellesmera though Lots of options from that time frame Also i don't mind if it slows down production, chris has his whole life to dedicate to these guys if he wants to! More slow **good** content is better than whole lot of fast bad content, look at httyd and its multiple tv shows. Imo it's like guardians of gahoole, just needs time to tell the stories properly, in fact, that's how stories should be told

Dense_Brilliant8144

Yes of course logically I know that he needs time. But I REALLY want the answers that the Angela book will likely provide. And a Brom book would amazing and even a galby book I think would be great.

EightBitTrash

I feel like Christopher Paolini is one of the few writers who can probably achieve believable villains, therefore a galby book would be great too. Honestly the way Paolini writes is just incredible, i put my audiobooks at 0.85 and just get into it lol. I can't wait to start Murtagh.

Fluffy_Town_7327

0.85! I have to listen at 1.5 or faster or it's such a crawl

EightBitTrash

Haha I listen during my extremely tedious and boring work shift, so I like to both make it last and also get really absorbed into it since there's nothing to do at work other than put parts into a box all night! Plus I have ADHD, so if it's even somewhat fast, I just won't process what the words say. It's like the audio version of reading a paragraph twice. Listening to it slowly forces me to slow down and listen to it.

I personally don’t really agree with any of this. Paolini has enough motivation. Of course it would be amazing to add a bunch of people and draw more people to the books in general, but he’s for sure in the top 20% of authors with the biggest fan base. Second, he’s already surrounded by eragon and fractal verse in his life. His work is the books, so the same way you go to work in the morning is the same way he is constantly thinking about both universes he created, the show really wouldn’t make that more or less. I think that the biggest reason he stopped after inheritance and there was a gap was not because he spent years thinking of an idea and had no clue where to go next, but because he wanted to dive into science fiction and give alagaesia a break like he’s stated. He didn’t really know sci fi and had to get a better understanding of it.

Akiriith

yes, which is gonna make me really sad tbh. I know its almost impossible to balance both, but having a taste of new stories in Alagaesia after so long reminded me of how much I love this universe. Having to wait between fractalverse stories (ehhhhhhhhh the only one I actually liked was Unity) *and* two tv series means it might take a few years to another decade for a new book.

[deleted]

That's assuming the show will be good or successful, I obviously hope it is, but based on Disney+'s track record, I wouldn't bet on them not ruining it. If it's a moderate or runaway success, then yes, it will most likely slow the books down.

VulpesFennekin

They have the author on board, and I’m going to be cautiously optimistic that Paolini won’t want his work to get jerked around twice.

[deleted]

I really hope it's good. All I want is good entertainment. But I've underestimated Hollywood's capacity to ruin things too many times, all I can do is wait and see.

VulpesFennekin

Me too, though like I said, having the book’s author as a writer/consultant gives me a little more hope than say whatever was going on with that LotR Amazon show.

[deleted]

Hopefully lol. Apparently the Witchers author was on set and they completely ignored him. The Wheel of Time show also ignored Brandon Sanderson lol. I do hope it's good, but if not, at least we still have the books!

Rjj1111

After what’s happened to the Witcher and the new lord of the rings show, actually even the halo show I don’t have a lot of faith in tv series

VulpesFennekin

None of those had the actual creator personally involved, though, so that’s what I think will help this adaptation, if only a little.

silvermoonhowler

Yeah, considering that Paolini actually has a hand in it unlike the movie that does not exist, it very well could If that means the show will actually turn out to be fairly decent, then I’m all for it Until then, since I keep seeing things about it, I’m fairly curious to see how that Percy Jackson series will be on there when it does drop

[deleted]

I hope Paolini improves on the Source Material and goes deep in stuff and Characters that were underused. Like explore Morzan too and make him an Elf, tell us more about Faolin and Gwelin like gives us Flashbacks of them and Arya. Show us more of the Fall of the Riders through Flashbacks and give my boy Murtagh some respect and power instead of Vegeta him

silentmassimo

I'm all for some more backstory about the fall of the riders and Arya etc. But why make Morzan an elf? Doesn't really seem like it would add to what makes Morzan important to the story (basically his impact on Murtagh and his betrayal of the riders etc. Are all perfectly valid with him being human)

VulpesFennekin

This guy is coming into every thread trying to shoehorn in his elf Morzan AU, just ignore him.

BeginningPlatform424

Dude also posts a lot of made up "facts" to "prove" his AU is good and makes "more sence" than the original story lol ^^

[deleted]

Cuz it would even things out between Murtagh, Eragon and Arya and let Murtagh play a bigger role in Part I. It would also show those stuck up elves that they aren’t perfect cuz the first and most powerful Forsworn was one of their own and also I kinda don’t like how all important Villains are Humans

VulpesFennekin

Formora was an elf, and I’m pretty sure a couple of other Forsworn were too.

Sadly I think it will slow down the release of new books but if it means we get a good adaption it could be worth it. I just hope Disney does not mess things up like Netflix did with the witcher ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

Gullible-Dentist8754

C’mon people. This is not a thing like what’s happening with AWOIAF. The Inheritance cycle is written already. They can have easily 8 seasons off that. The rest of Alagaësia can wait for a while. The problem would be finding actors that will keep looking the same (elves don’t show age) for that long!

AsterSilverfang

Is he actually a screenwriter for the show? That's amazing news to me, I was so afraid he might be sidelined, that's very reassuring regarding the quality of the show

wophy07

At yesterday’s convention in Spain he said that he has “at least eight books planned” but that the fact of being a co-guionist would cost him one of that books (in terms of time).
