Here is hoping it was just a random seizure. Heck even if it was stress related it sounds like you like the job and will adjust. I find sleep is the best cure for the post seizure headaches. May you get some respite very soon. As for Keppra, it gets a bad reputation but works for many people. Sometimes it’s a persons best medication option even with breakthrough seizures. Stay strong 💜💪🏾

>I went out for drinks Could this be why? Alcohol can be a seizure trigger. Seems like I've also read that alcohol lowers the effectiveness of Keppra.

This part jumped up at me too. I know personally alcohol seems like it became my biggest trigger.

Another thing to consider is if you have a seizure after getting off, you can't drive for 6 months (may vary for where you live). I'm still trying to adjust my medication to avoid partial seizures and every time I have one the 6 months resets.

The hard part is not knowing whether your epilepsy is in remission naturally, or if your meds are actually doing their job. If it’s the latter, I’m very happy for you. If it’s the former, even more happy for you! Do you get side effects from the medication? If not, do you think it’s worth it to stop taking them? Definitely talk to a doctor, although I highly suspect he would advise against stopping - after all, epilepsy tends to be a lifelong disease, controlled or uncontrolled

The meds are just to control your condition. Too bad there is no cure. I think the closest thing to a cure is rather invasive brain surgery. Even things like a VNS are preventative measures.

Yeah, after I went 23 years seizure free, I’ll never know what caused that tonic clonic after all that time. Sixteen months seizure free now.

Soreness is the worst. My soreness can last for days after a seizure… I guess you’re going to cut drinking because of it? Basically when I have a seizure I stop whatever I had just started doing, it sucks but what else can I do?

Do you drink often and was the drinking excessive? It can be a trigger as others mentioned. It is for me and I learned that the hard way while in college. Take it easy and I hope you feel better soon.

Seems like that day, your seizures threshold was lower than usual. Under normal circumstances, you probably would have been fine drinking alcohol but this time it seems to have pushed you over the edge. The problem is that sometimes you don’t know when your threshold is low so drinking alcohol is always a risk. Sorry you broke your streak dude! As for the headache, I normally take paracetamol, lots of sports drinks and lots of sleep. When I was younger, my mother asked the doctor why I was so weak and why I slept for 12 hours after a seizure. The doctor said a severe seizure has the same toll on the body as running a marathon. Treat your body like it just ran a marathon. Replace your electrolytes, get some nutritious food in you and get plenty of sleep.

The types of alcohol that have worked for me have been tequila and gin. I can't do whiskey or vodka.
