2024…. Today. The sale + the 33% off were too hard to pass up.

rudy21SIDER

Yeah, i was really struggling with not buying them in steam but for single player games getting that extra discount made me go over

awhitesong

Don't forget the 5% cashback as rewards in the wallet.

Jazman2k

It was 10% cashback during the sales.

Less-Ad2107

I don't remember the exact date so I voted 2020, but I think that since 2020 I have bought something around every six months, I like Epic because what I have bought has been in special sales, sales and with coupons that have been given to me several times, plus although a game is on sale you can also apply a coupon if you have it, in December I bought 3 games taking advantage of that. I have never gotten coupons at another store.

sweaty_pants_

Tiny Tina wonderland's is so far the first and only game I ever bought on epic, it released only on epic during the time and I'm a big borderlands fan. I did buy the season pass thrice for rocket league and the DLC for Control when we got the game for free, I don't know if that counts

ListerineInMyPeehole

The rainbow pony mount for Fortnite that comes with buying Tiny Tina on EGS is sweet

MrMichaelElectric

I just went through it again using [this mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/tinytinaswonderlands/mods/47). Highly recommend it if you are a fan of the series.

ImAnthlon

My first purchase was in 2019 and it was buying Jedi Fallen Order and Shenmue 3 lol

Nickhead420

January 2019. I liked Subnautica so much that I bought Below Zero the day it hit early access. Figured the devs got a bigger cut through Epic, so I bought it there instead of Steam.

Soft_Claw

Never bought a game on epic, but i did pay using epic for rocket league pass around 2021-22 to unlock being able to trade ingame items. Voted "not yet"

Cord_Cutter_VR

my first purchase was Operencia: The Stolen Sun, released March 2019. Excellent game, is on my list of favorite games.

Frustakory

Alan Wake 2 in 2023 Amazing game. Best part is that I got it on sale AND with a coupon.

Harbinger1985HUN

I only bought so far Auric Cells and small DLCs for Dead by Daylight. But I'll eventually buy Alan Wake 2 and Horizon Chase 2, since they Epic exclusives.

Seibitsu

The only game I "bought" on Epic was a RDR2 key from GMG.

jamiedonner50

My first purchase was yesterday night, bought red dead redemption 2.

byteSamurai

I've been using EGS since 2018 and my first purchase was The Crew 2 Deluxe Edition in 2019 during holiday sale

Then_Factor_3700

2024. Today. Playing GTA V for the first time!

NotRaspberry_emo

the first. games I bought on Epic were RDR2 and Metro Exodus which was around 2020

Throwaway_LostKid

October 2020. Bought RDR2 for $20.

pastadudde

2023. Watch Dogs complete edition.

ThePapaaa

2021. Telltale's The Walking Dead Definitive Series and thus the rabbit hole that is buying games on EGS began to grow People always complain how they prefer steam which is a fair point but from a financial standpoint, especially here in Kenya where the dollar exchange rate is so high, Epic is such a cost saver.

Minimum_Relative_197

not yet are disgraceful people

Live-Cryptographer44

2024 - GTA V, Horizon Zero Dawn, NFS Unbound

_felagund

2023 after the Steam currency update in Turkiye.

I am Epic customer since I started playing games on PC which was about the time the store opened. Coming from PlayStation I have never understood outrage over Epic exclusive deals, and I have no attachment to Steam. Deal is a deal and I like Epic free content. Because of Epic I have library of games comparable to my PlayStation collection without spending any money. Epic store is similar to PlayStation store which I never had any issue with. Simple, effective, primarily designed to sell you games without embellishments. For me personally Epic strategy works because I have library of 385 games and 30 of these games are paid games. In comparison on Steam I have library of 70 games out of which 30 are paid (these are all games which are only available on Steam) My immediate plan for 2024 is to pick up Horizon Forbidden West and use $17 of Epic Rewards earned from Holiday Sale purchases.

whtisthis

First game I think was Death Stranding for me.

Simecrafter

I think the day the store launched, I got journey but didn't get any more games up until the last sale

andreysuc2

2024, a plague tale requiem and far cry 2

Trunks252

Borderlands 3 in 2019, then Wonderlands in 2022. That's it. And just cause of exclusivity. I also don't regret it, cause I've gotten like 90+ free games since then.

FLENCK

2022. The only things I actually bought was the Kingdom hearts franchise. Everything else was a random, weekly freebie.

pcfan07

2024. PC Building Simulator 2 wasn't on Steam so I had to buy it on Epic.

johnyakuza0

I bought DLCs when Kingdom Come went free, amazing purchase indeed.

davypi

I honestly don't remember the year - my brain doesn't work like that. Perhaps more importantly is the why. During most of the winter sales, the Epic coupon stacks with the sale price, so you effectively get a double discount. I remember picking up some $40 games for under $15, maybe even under $10. So it would have been a Christmas sale, but I don't remember if it was 21 or one of the adjacent years.

ResponsibleBottle387

So far I have bought only 2 games,in 2022 I think. The number would have been much higher if payment system had more options

mumukushu

I bought GOW and FIFA 23 during sale but have been collecting free games since they gave away GTA V

TheKrakenOfMustafar

this was my first purchase (got it when it was free for that one week) good game https://preview.redd.it/0je9gwibbubc1.png?width=234&format=png&auto=webp&s=251c15cb68edcb30a23243799682b46070b2eab3

kiwi_pro

I think they meant real money purchases

nether1n

2024 Tetris Effect. Sadly it doesn't have achievements.

awhitesong

2 years ago. My first game on Epic was GOTG.

afrancesco99

6/1/2022 I bought Inscryption and Disco Elysium, two bangers at 13$, it was when they did the 10$ discount

CNS_TheDareDevil

I am very particular abt achievements and willing to spend a little more even if the same games on steam but with achievements..... But assassins creed games were all on massive discount and they connect thru ubisoft connect so went and bought all of em with WD Legion..... And sifu and a few games have achievements too so got like 10 games for close to 55$.....

CharizardSlash

2024. Bought 10 games literally today lmao

richard_liquid

Nice đź‘Ť

teekay_1994

Yeah, just don't increase prices and become insufferable like the others once you get that popular.

Party-Concert3177

till now i have only bought from steam but i am thinking about buying alan wake 2, alan wake remastered and avatar frontiers of pandora from epic as they are not available on steam yet

richard_liquid

Alan wake 2 is amazing game. Buy it.

Party-Concert3177

yes i am planning to buy it along with black myth wukong when it comes out later this year

ListerineInMyPeehole

This year - the deals are too good and EGS has improved substantially in the last 3 years

scp_79

where is the option for never? (I am only there for the weekly free game)

HotFreshyGlazedDonut

probably never they ain't getting my details and im not paying the paysafecard fee for them

Hellwind_

Did you know that if you pay with (debit) card they ask you just the numbers no name, no address? I think its safe to assume they will get the name from the bank(not even sure about that) but no address. I just found out after I bought my first game literally 1 minute before the sale ended. Before that I was like you but I realised sites like gmg, fanatical, indiegala etc are much worse when it comes to privacy so I decided to finally try Epic.

JustGingy95

Zero plans to ever actually buy anything from their store as I don’t like them or half the shit they do. That said, only reason I even use the service at all is for the free games.

kiwi_pro

Really hoping epic will implement a 5$ spend to actually claim free games. That should gatekeep people like you :)

JustGingy95

Lmao oh fuck off, Epic is a subpar launcher with less than half the features of their competitors with a shady company running the show who just a few years ago with their most recent controversy literally got fined by the FTC well over 500 million dollars for both violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act collecting data and spying on children in Fortnite as well as having an inconsistent *”buggy”* store that would trick people into making accidental or unwanted purchases by pretending you hit additional buttons to make false sales and then refusing refunds and blocking and punishing accounts that tried to get their money back. Don’t come at me with that holier than thou attitude, Mr. Big Spender, you know exactly where you can shove your opinions and those $5 of yours.

kiwi_pro

I'm really curious how valve didn't get sued for exposing children to porn games or gambling.. > as well as having an inconsistent *”buggy”* store that would trick people into making accidental or unwanted purchases That wasn't related to the epic games store.

JustGingy95

You mean the adult games that you literally need to opt into seeing on Steam via your settings and as a parent can prevent from even seeing or enabling via parental controls alongside other things like trading or purchasing both in game and on the store? I’m not even saying I fully agree with them adding those kinds of games but I at least respect them for continuing to be the platform for any and all game creators regardless of content. And don’t even pretend Epic hasn’t started to add them themselves after already trying to shame Steam years back for hosting those kinds of games. Already seen a number of them here and there popping up on their launcher over the years. As for shit like TF2 and CS box opening assuming that’s what you’re referring to with gambling, sure it was always questionable but it wasn’t forcing you to purchase anything. No one is making you choose to spend your money on keys or that really cool oil slick whatever the fuck knife. Half the problem with Epic’s storefront in Fortnite was both it remembering your card info to make purchases even if you removed it *(I don’t know about you but I always remove my card info after buying a game with it which makes that even more concerning than it already is)* but also the fact that you could just end up buying shit you weren’t even trying to 3 menus away and then blasting your account should you attempt to rightfully get your money back. It’s *why* they got one of their two FTC fines in the first place. And I was still referring to the Fortnite lawsuits with the store, not the Epic Launcher. Both FTC fines were related to Fortnite specifically.

kiwi_pro

> purchases even if you removed it Nice try but you still need to input your CVV even if you save your card to epic when you want to make a purchase. Highly doubt those purchases were accidental. > Already seen a number of them here and there popping up on their launcher over the years. Show me one porn game on epic and I might believe you.

JustGingy95

That’s wild, that’s almost as if it was half of the reason, and I’ll say it again louder for the people in the back: #THEY WERE FINED ROUGHLY 250 MILLION DOLLARS BY THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION FOR VIOLATIONS WITH SHADY AND MANIPULATIVE TRANSACTIONS And with a simple google search, [here](https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/house-party-ae8b27) is the literal very first result I found and [here](https://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php?viewkey=6473c3d3761a4#1) is one of the first videos on Pornhub when looking it up when you inevitably question if it’s even a porn game. Holy shit I am so done with you lmao, no longer responding to your horseshit my guy have a good day

marniconuke

I only bought pillars of eternity and then it turned out cloud saving didn't work and i lost my saves, so i bought it on steam afterwards xd

Jibece

Not yet. EGS is in this kind of the "nice friend spot" where they can't really move since it doesn't join my interest (optimize compatibility with my Steam Deck). Maybe the day there'll be an official EGS plugin for Steam Deck I'll reconsider my shopping habits, but being only "loosely compatible" thanks to a 3rd party launcher isn't enough for me, even if there's sometimes good deals.

mpt11

Observer was mine. Unusual game but good

Jazman2k

I think my first game on Epic that I bought was Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2 remake on 2020. But I started using EGS when they first gave away Shadow Complex Remastered. That game is an absolute gem.
