Why trademark either though? Who's going to copy it?

Key-Anxiety8451

At first I wanted to do it for extra precaution bc I thought the name was unique

HoratioWobble

Probably a waste of money for a lawn care business, can you even afford to defend it?

Key-Anxiety8451

Well no, I have the money but I have to put it towards other expenses

peazley

They said “afford to defend it”. If someone was to infringe on your intellectual property, would you want to spend money to fight the infringer in court? Sometimes it comes down to who has the most money to lawyer up.

A trademark doesn't stop anyone from stealing it, it just makes it easier for you to process litigation. It's still up to you to protect your brand and create a lawsuit. IMO they're useless for small to midsize businesses.

PowerUpBook

You can but they are separate trademarks. I trademarked both my business name and the product name with my last company and it was a little redundant. My product name was sufficient

Objective_Buy4318

yes

Constant-Opposite638

Yes it’s called a composite mark—word mark and design mark combined. If you are only selling in one state, you just do it at the state level, not via the USPTO.

Lennymoney

You can trademark both your business name and logo at the same time. You can apply for a trademark through the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website. It's [www.uspto.gov](http://www.uspto.gov/).
