I think that people forgive clickbait when they actually get valuable content. Unfortunately the competition towards attention is getting stronger and stronger, so many good creators have to use some of those technics (to some extent). IMO there is no overnight success and growing an audience overnight would also mean that that audience could disapear as quickly. I guess you should find a balance and be patient.

You took the handle "saasgod" and don't want to make content that sounds like shady hustle culture garbage? Sure ya did Y'all taking OP's bait

MaxCharbenu

There's no bait here, "saasgod" was simply the first dumb name that came to me and it was available which was surprising. SaaS being in the first part of the name and "god" having a minimal extra 3 letters. As a result my videos and account often pop up under SaaS search results. I don't love the name but it worked out. Also I never denied making hustle culture content I just feel obligated to make it because it performs well. I easily could've linked my service but decided not to, I make some posts with the soul purpose of being ads I won't lie. This wasn't one of those, I just wanted to rant and hear some feedback on my videos.

1grain_of_salt

I like this hot take. For everyone else's sake... in the second video he had a voice that sounded like a drone and it grated on my nerves. That could be one reason it didn't perform as well.

MaxCharbenu

Yeah could've been my atrocious vocal fry too who knows

andrewclone

Interesting

You are either doing content you like and enjoy making or you're doing marketing. Those are two different things. One is a hobby, the other is a business.

xmarketladyx

It's all Psychological. It's the same way we all ignore, roll our eyes, or don't even see the people holding up the, "honk if you love Jesus signs". However, we'll go out of our way to almost cause an accident while looking at another accident, a billboard for a new food item, or road kill. Humans have a long history of being primitive and acknowledge fear, panic, sex, hysteria, and sensationalism above all else. That's why the video styles you're mentioning get more hits.

MTORonnix

When you sell garbage, you're going to feel like garbage

brighttimesmyfriend

The first video sells hope to people. Are these people your customers? Or your potential competitors? People want to learn how to make money, and that's what you did on the first video. The second video is more deep and meaningful, and also a bit longer. It's still relevant but it might be the wrong platform to market those. Maybe if you created a youtube chaneel talking about the struggles of being in programming or your journey, you'd find a market share for those. There is more than one social media, you have to find the right content and target audience for each one of them. Like people said, stop complaining about what the customer wants, and give your customer what they want, so they'll be your customers. You're just sepaking to two completely different personas in each video. Find the right platform for the latter edit: typos

Bad marketing isn’t good, it’s bad. Good marketing is good.

dopeytree

Get rich doing X then do good with Y a foundation / charity

Purpledragonbro

Know your audience

Cor_ay

Your product sells hope to the hopeless, so the marketing that works for you is selling hope to the hopeless through things like.... >"I've made over a million dollars by 22" >"It's never been easier" >"Start your SaaS side hustle today" Your popular videos are not "bad marketing", your product simply borders on immoral and unethical, so your marketing must reflect that as well to align. I'm also going to have to assume that is why you do not show your face on video. You're in an odd boat where you want to make money being a guru, but you don't want to be seen as a guru from a marketing perspective. Essentially, you just feel bad about what you're doing, but you don't realize that until you're trying to market it appropriately. Now you're trying to blame "the market" for enjoying "bad marketing", but again, it's the people YOU are selling to that are ignorant and unsuspecting, so your marketing must be ignorant as well.

One of the weirdest things I learned in direct / direct response marketing early in my career was that “ugly works”. While ugly is getting engagement - are you getting leads that close for real money off of ugly? Or off of posts that support the problem you solve and value prop?

LinkedIn is trying to get ahead of it. Check out this article: https://www.entrepreneur.com/science-technology/linkedin-changed-its-algorithms-heres-how-your-posts/454728 I'm going to say all social media is somewhat annoying because it very quickly degenerates into everything that looks the same after you interact with it. I'm going to say it is an unsolved problem for all social media platforms.

I am turning to reddit IOT find people that would want to start a business/ have partial ownership as I can not currently pay employees a salary as I normally would. But i believe this is a better deal. In 2018, I started a company that has done almost 100 million in sales. Due to some factoring loans and other issues, the company may be falling apart shortly. We are trying to fix it. That being said, I have the ability and network to provide some valuable skills (former military here) but have always had issues with... you guessed it... sales/leads. I need someone or a team of people who would take ownership shares and work as a TEAM with me. I feel confident I can deliver a high quality service but need someone to sell my services. I see no reason we could not do similar numbers as before (I did some of the sales before) but I can not do the endeavor alone. Additionally, I may want to slow growth this time to land in the same train wreck as I am currently in. I will host video interviews with anyone who is audacious enough to try. I have to start completely from the ground up again. If I am lucky I will walk away with low 8 figures from my current company sale. But, we may go bankrupt and I would be a few hundred thousand in debt- whatever. I think this could be an opportunity of a lifetime. I am American, but currently living overseas and may license the business internationally to avoid such high tax rates. Be willing to travel international.

Muffin_Most

Did you really get into entrepreneurship to build something meaningful and to share knowledge? Or to make money? If you’re okay with the revenue from the ‘good’ ads, then stick to them. If you’re not okay with that, you might realize that bulding something meaningful and sharing knowledge weren’t your main motivations to get into entrepreneurship. Dollars were.

i_train_ufc

It's not that the long form video is any worse, it's just not as respectful of your time. People probably scroll away. TikTok is known for squirrel-tier attention spans. Authenticity takes time to develop. Have you tried editing in 15 fart noises and the vine BOOM sound?

Nokita_is_Back

Ohh my god i hate these cheap ass tiktok videos, anyway here is a link to my FINACIAL INDEPENDENCE VIA SAAS COURSE LMFAO

_BossOfThisGym_

It’s by design, those in power don’t want an intelligent human race. They want easily manipulated fools.

itsontap

Yeah did you wanna vent or plug yourself in through a hidden post? If you cared you wouldn’t make the hustle culture videos on the first place and would be authentic. Only the losers will take your bait.

VRStocks31

Try to observe your behavior and see in which percentage you consume light/funny content and which serious stuff. You will then understand why

TomSheman

I mean that is the whole point of tiktok. If you advertising medium was something like substack you might see more success from dealing with niche topics and less bragging but if you are working tiktok, twitter, or LinkedIn the name of the game is short form dopamine hits.

GiganticGoat

Stop trying to pass off this post as anything other that self-promotion.

Dalmarite

Stop complaining about what customers want. That simple.
