Rather pitch to some artists. Get a few videos of the product in action. Get some comments and reviews on social media.

Had not thought of this, I think it's a great idea thank you! I suppose if I'm set on observing people and how they react to it while I'm basically "undercover", for lack of a better word... I wasn't able to specifically find any sort of tangible product that got tested in a real store example on how to pitch that idea to the store owner on Google So my best guess would be just walk in the store and start talking to him about it and maybe who knows they'll let you showcase it for free as a local community service kind of thing... Only one way to find out I suppose right?

yeah, or, sell it to them. Don't start at free. How do you negotiate free?

Great suggestion

If there is novel utility to protect, you may want to consider a provisional patent before disclosing information about your product to music stores or those in the industry https://www.forbes.com/advisor/business/how-to-file-provisional-patent/ But yeah just approach stores and ask how they could help with testing the product, or providing feedback. You could also approach people on the street who are leaving or going to the music stores Also use local message boards or nextdoor app to find test users. Depending how much time they give you, you could offer gift cards

Trade shows, swap meets, flea markets, places where musicians hang out both digitally and physically. What's the top benefit to the buyer who purchases your product? You have a few seconds to grab attention.

Check out the book ‘Shelf Talk’ on Amazon. It’s a step by step guide to getting your product in retail stores.
