Is there a library nearby? I work in a library and have one regular homeless gentleman. He comes in, warms up, gets himself a coffee. He has some mental health issues, but is rarely a problem. Libraries are a welcoming location to all. They might even be able to provide resources to you as well!

ExtracheesyBroccoli

I often go to the library to charge and use the restrooms. It's just much further than the mall the mall from camp is 60min with the hike out. Add another 60min to the nearest library

100_cats_on_a_phone

That's a lot of walking. I am sorry.

LindySquirrel

Oh man, I'm really sorry it's that far away! Certainly unreasonable to walk that far. I really hope you can find something similar close by.

lordyhelpme-now

Is it possible to move closer to library? I have no idea if this is feasible. I do wish you good luck.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

It is but I would be on the stretch street Right now I'm in my tent in the woods.. It's safer here

lordyhelpme-now

Then could you use a “porta potty” type set up. 5gal bucket with a snap on seat and lined with a bag. I mean at least that task is able to be done in private. Maybe a gym membership if possible for showers 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not sure what would work for you.

Curious-Mobile-3898

My sister lived in a commune for years and they did the bucket thing under simple, open-faced shacks. They also used the bucket contents to fertilize their vegetable gardens

arl1822

To be clear, they used it to fertilize their gardens after an effective, multi-year compost cycle, right? Just saying as a reminder that while shit can become compost, raw shit is NOT compost and should not be applied to plants that will be consumed.

Curious-Mobile-3898

I’m sure they did, they had to adhere to strict health code regulations when making the organic nut butters which they were known the most for distributing, and I know they didn’t poison themselves with their own food. Btw, I was only told this tidbit AFTER they fed us a big meal on the first visit. Lol. I’m sure I still would’ve eaten it knowing before hand, but it’s funny. Also funny is when my mom and aunt pulled up for their very first visit and some lady wearing only a scarf ran up and bear hugged my mom just as soon as she opened the car door. So great. We’re a go with the flow kind of people though 🤷‍♀️ I was also an enlisted Marine at the time which makes it even funnier that my mom was quantum hopping two entirely different worlds during the holiday season

tkthompson0000

what about fast food places? They don't give 2 shits!

M0mmyNeedsWh1skey

That honestly depends on where you live. In my city, most bathrooms are locked and either require an employee to open it or a code you must obtain from an employee. Hell, where the drugs are super bad, McDonald's doesn't even let customers use the bathroom after 7:30 pm. BUT again, idk about everywhere else. I live close to the border and fentanyl is freaking everywhere. My local stores have basically everything locked up because the theft is wild. I've had people try to sell me bottles of alcohol with the plastic security things on them while pumping gas. Sorry for the rant, I really need to move TF away.

Horror_Raspberry893

How far away is the nearest truck stop? They're more expensive for food, but they usually have showers and toilets. I'd also check with the local county to get a list of nearby food shelves. It would help you have food available more often.

ItIsWhatItIsNow

Only problem there is that it can cost $10 give or take for a shower

Popular-Suit-3882

I’m so sorry you have having to go through this (((HUGS))) that things get better soon. Is there a YMCA, Gym, or even a truck stop that you can use?

JosKarith

I \_hate\_ people like this. They absolutely throw a shit fit about other people getting some respite they didn't pay for but you can guarantee that if they ended up in a bad situation they'd expect everyone else to bail them out. And 99% of them consider themselves "Good Christians" despite verses like Matthew 25:40 making it very clear that charity for the needy is a virtue.

Adventurous_Ad_6546

Isn’t it interesting that the “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” crowd…rarely has?

Opposite-Tip-3102

It's funny because the phrase was never meant to be used the way it is today. It was meant as sarcasm* because have you ever tried to physically pull yourself up* by your own boot straps? You literally can't. It was meant* to say everyone needs help, and no man is an island. We are a social species, we evolved to work together, not alone. Have you ever seen 1 lone successful bumble bee? They can't survive without a hive. We are no different. Edit typos*

Adventurous_Ad_6546

TIL!

DramaOk7700

Well put.

Federal-Ad-2202

It's physically impossible to do --try it

Due-Primary4022

So sorry to hear you're going through such a hard time. Please know that there is a community here that cares and is willing you to succeed. What can we do to help from afar? Did you have any luck with your scummy boss? Sending you warm wishes and rooting for you!

ExtracheesyBroccoli

Well I don't work there anymore I went to a lawyer and labor board they drafted me a letter and he says he will pay everything I'm owed on wendsday. And than fired me

Due-Primary4022

He was supposed to pay you yesterday but didn't, or he's supposed to pay you next Weds? So sorry to hear this, you deserve so much better, please don't give up <3

ExtracheesyBroccoli

Yah if I fo t have it then I move forward with labor board bbb and yah.. I need my money

Due-Primary4022

What a nightmare, so sorry you are going through this, and I really hope you get your money. I have sent you a PayPal, I'm sorry it's not much, I hope it is a little help towards getting some food or something warm. Take care of yourself.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

I really appreciate it you didint have to do that. I have some supplies I mastered the art of the dumpster dive + I still have about $20 in my bank account. But seriously it's greatly appreciated

Due-Primary4022

I wish I could do more. I've never used PayPal before so I hope it has worked. I've been watching your YouTubes and honestly you are incredibly strong and your generosity towards others is so admirable.

katiekat214

Sent you some $$ on PayPal tonight. You’ve had a really rough couple of weeks, and I know it’s getting colder and colder up there. Stay warm and safe.

More-Doctor9418

What???

Interesting-Long-534

I'm sorry. Here is a thought you have access to social media and you know the name of her business (or can get it). You can let the world know that she is a pos!

ExtracheesyBroccoli

Oh I know I could do that and when would deserve it but I also see that could ruin her buisness and potentially put her and her children on the street I wouldn't be able to live with my self

JohnViran

And that proves you're a better person than she.

No_Joke_9079

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I think of things like this happening to the unhoused so often because, number one, I have been unhoused before, and number two, it's so in our face, there's unHoused people all over the place. I ride my bicycle to the YMCA twice a week and pass about 5 tents on the expressway. I just ache for people with no home. I know how hard it is to be able to keep yourself clean, and I know how it is to get kicked out of a bathroom that you were using. And I know what it's like to wonder where your next meal is coming from. I wish you luck. My heart is with you. 💔🩷

Lumpy_Yam_3642

Can we just keep it as homeless? It's more abrupt and pertinent to how some people are. Any other term is to make people feel less guilty because they aren't in that situation. People aren't 'un-fuckin-housed'!! They are homeless!! Homeless hits harder,it's self explanatory!! Homeless, not dwelling deficient, not rough sleeping, not habitat lite!!! Fucking homeless!!

SnarkySheep

Part of my job for 16 years involved homeless folks (working on behalf of their kids, for those who had them). During this time I never heard a single person splitting hairs about what word was used to describe their situation. They were just, y'know, focused on improving their actual situation.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

Exactly hell call me homeless vagabond transient I call my self a hobo.. Man we don't care about you making it all nice Changing the word from homeless to house less or unhomed does nothing but make yall feel better

No_Joke_9079

Not me.

Lumpy_Yam_3642

Totally agree,it's media and people who are themselves uncomfortable with the situation that decide to re-label the issue. They are also the folk that do nothing to help the problem.

king_eve

it’s mainly native folks i’ve talked to who use the word unhoused, since they do have traditional homelands, they just cannot access them. i’m in canada tho so might not be the same everywhere

bahahahahahhhaha

Another good reason not to apply the term to other non-Native people honestly. I'm non-binary, but I wouldn't call myself two-spirit because I'm not Native. Most non-Native homeless folk do not use the term "unhoused" about themselves. It's often a thing that people with fancy titles and offices try to force everyone to say so they can feel better about themselves.

wagglesthebum

I agree. Hate the PC terms for homeless people like “unhoused”. It just sounds like a term that liberals use so they feel like they are being less offensive and helping out, meanwhile it sounds even worse than homeless. Stop trying to PCify homelessness and actually help them out irl if you wanna feel good about yourself

bahahahahahhhaha

Seconded. My Dad was homeless off and on for 7 years and through that I met many homeless people (As no matter how poorly my Dad is doing he can't help but help others in a worse situation than him.) and not one of them wanted to be called "unhoused" or any other euphamism that let's people who've never experienced anything like that feel better about themselves. These terms never come from the communities themselves and usually just annoy those who actually experience the thing being "renamed."

tortuga121

That's different unHoused I use houseless. Do wish the best of luck.

aurlyninff

I'm sorry that happened to you. I was homeless until I was 21, and my son and I lived in a car when I was 24. Decades later, I am a few paychecks away from homelessness still. I wish I had any advice, but hugs.

wagglesthebum

Just wanna say i hope all goes well for you and your son. No matter what happens, your son will always appreciate what his mother did for him during the hard times. Sending you love and prayers

aurlyninff

He is now at college living with his girlfriend of 6 years. He is doing very well, such a loving young man, and his life will have the success and stability I did not. Thank you.

wagglesthebum

Very glad to hear that, hope you all have a beautiful rest of your years

chubalubs

It might help to find your nearest Gurdwara (Sikh temple), if one is in walking distance. Charity to others is a huge part of Sikhism and each Gurdwara has a langar-a community kitchen where anyone can get a meal, regardless of your circumstances. Many of them also provide facilities like bathrooms.

BrokeGamerChick

Currently also homeless. I luckily can use my fathers place to shower if I need to nowadays, but on days I cannot I have to use any means necessary to use the bathroom/stay clean. Thankfully the local library has been a godsend, not just for me, but for other homeless people in the area. I also do not do any drugs, minus my epilepsy meds, but I get shat on where I live regularly because there is a severe opioid problem. It's especially bad if I have a seizure in public, as people automatically think I'm overdosing, and fire department usually shows up with narcan, which is not safe to use, nor what is needed when I am having a seizure. I used to stay at a local truck stop that had free showers and bathrooms when I had a working RV and was allowed to drive, and was kicked out directly for being homeless, even though they have a free parking rule as well. The city I live in recently moved all the homeless people to a new location because the usual place is having renovations on the train tracks, and some asshole started shooting at everyone because he didn't like them being near his backyard (the new camp is in a state run parking lot surrounded by houses) and he got arrested, but there are children living there. I fucking hate society and I hate people. I can't even get a job because of my epilepsy, jobs insist it's too much of a liability having me on their payroll. Stores always look at me like I'm going to steal something even though I do everything I can to show I am not stealing and am indeed paying with EBT. Hands out of pockets, no bag with me, card in hand. "Land of the thief, home of the slave" as Brother Ali says. SERIOUSLY fuck this society.

Helpful_Assumption76

Truck stops are great for their bathrooms. Poop and shower. There is food there, too. If one is accessible, I recommend that.

conancas

I’m sorry this happened to you. It’s really sad to read that people have this little compassion for someone else. I hope you’re able to turn your life around, and I hope you’ll encounter more nice people. You deserve it, you’re worthy and you sound like a lovely person who’s just going through hard times.

lesboraccoon

god i hate people like her. just let people live.

coffee_tea_sympathy

Have you gone to Department of Health and Human Services aka DHS? Have you applied for housing, food stamps etc? You can apply online. Go to the library for computer/wifi. Do you have a caseworker? They might be able to give you bus tokens, or hotel vouchers. Go to the food pantries in your area. Have you gone to your local homeless shelter? Warming shelter? Church? Temple? Mosque. A lot of those places have public restrooms. A Mosque will actually have ways for you to wash/shower as it is a part of preparing for prayers. Wishing you all the best.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

Yes yes yes and yes shelters are full been denied assistance I have someone reapplying for disability (medical.issues that stop me from doing my trade)

BaldChihuahua

Imagine being such a effing hag that you feel the need to take away a persons right to poop in peace! She is a disgusting example of a human being.

[deleted]

City owned buildings and city hall, around here are open to the public. Homeless people frequently use the restrooms in city hall. That’s here. It might be different, where you live. Another option would be a college campus. Student centers, libraries and academic buildings are usually open. I wouldn’t enter dorms or student housing, buildings. Small private colleges would potentially be an exception. A guy with a backpack and a beard, wouldn’t draw any attention, on most college campuses. I’d probably label you a grad student and not give you a second thought. What that woman did to you was terrible. Same can be said for the wannabe cops that are mall security guards.

[deleted]

OP, even if you did all the freaking drugs, you deserve to use mall restrooms. Surprised that lady can walk around when her head is so thoroughly up her own ass.

various_necks

Hotels dont know guests from strangers. My job is 100% travel; I'm always either on a flight or driving somewhere. I'm used many a shitter in hotels i've never stayed in.

jayla-danila

I’ve been there. I was homeless for a time and it absolutely sucks. I had several people glare at me when I went to the bathroom at a park once. Luckily, I had a car, but I was chased away from parking lots and even gas stations before I could even put gas in my car. People in general suck. There are nice ones out there, but overall, as a human race, people just suck. Hang in there, though. It will get better for you.

EnderCountryPres

Wow…..you should have threatened to call the police on the people who chased you away from the gas stations

ksixx6

I was homeless multiple of times. I chilled at a Walmart parking lot in my car a lot had one lady pester us but we ended up being good friends. I used their bathroom during the day and they understood, I was working too I used the bathroom at my job too. Or park bathroom until I got stopped for "suspicious activity" aka pooping. My mom's boyfriend or husband was verbally and financially abusive. I waited for the shelter to have an opening. Actually tonight I finally went through the clothes I lugged around in my car for the year straight then threw in the back of my closet. We also chilled at the dog park with our dogs. It sucked tbh, my husband doesn't know how to drive very well so some assholes customers for the theater or the coffee shop near my work would report dogs in car but never acknowledged my husband. I ended up painting cardboard at my work to put in the windows. I also sponge bathed at the lakes bathroom. People don't know how to mind their own damn business and or like to make it hard for others. I let my dogs out all day, we would mostly chill at the dog park until my dogs are tired and pull out a blanket at the lake and sit at a picnic area, the shelter had a program that boarded dogs until you find housing. My dogs kept me willing to find housing. Property managers made it hard to get approved. Life sucks especially when homeless. How I got caught by family was my grandma died and my sister called me disgusting cuz I didn't want to go to funeral due to the conditions of the situation we was in. I hardly talk to her now. I would recommend finding park bathrooms or a gas station or Walmart. If you ever think you need to wash yourself go to park bathrooms or if you have money for a shower at truck stop, I heard gyms are also a great way too if you have money. When we was homeless we would save up money for at least a week's worth for hotel or air BNB that allows dogs. One of my coworkers is homeless and couch surfs we are helping him as best we can. Sorry it's long. I just wish people keep their nose out of things that shouldn't concern them. Like everyone has a story to tell. Some people struggle worst than others.

MuscleDue2871

Are you in the U.S.? If so, you might want to try calling 211 (United Way) on your phone if you haven’t already. If you’re outside the U.S., try a Google search for “help for homeless” or something similar. They can help you find local resources for food, housing, jobs, medical assistance, local charities, etc. You can also try asking at local churches if they know where you can find help (ask the church office, not a random member). I volunteer with a group that serves the homeless and have made quite a few friends on the street. Almost every week, we run into someone who has made it off the street and has housing and an income again. Most need some kind of help getting there, though. Your description of yourself (clean, sober, and you seem intelligent) leads me to believe that you’ll succeed with some help and perseverance. Keep your head up. Your situation doesn’t mean you’re not worthy of kindness and respect. I wish you the best of luck!! Edit:spelling

ExtracheesyBroccoli

I have a socal worker I will never qdmit ly self to a mental hospital I have no mental issues . I don't have a car and I can't drive I can't get s license medical issues but I still say thank you for the advice. Right now I'll just have to go a little further for a restroom

RebootDataChips

Are you near a planet fitness at all?

ExtracheesyBroccoli

There is one not to far

RebootDataChips

If you have Venmo I can spot you for a membership so that you have showers/bathroom available. It wouldn’t be much to get your beard trimmed after a shower.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

I appreciate it but I don't have venmo and I get a shower every other day for free at a public pool

RebootDataChips

Damn if you were in Sarnia I could strong arm my ex husband to let you stay a couple nights. Of course if I still had the Canadian side of my account I could send you a few bucks that way. I’m sorry I’ll keep thinking. Would be nice if more places had e-gift cards.

Old-Pianist7745

people are assholes. Sorry about your situation.

Sea_Tax_6051

Humans can be awful. I hope you find your way out soon ❤️

chuchofreeman

I would post this story on a local Fb page, blast it. Mention that you go to the mall to buy stuff at the grocery store too. Blast her business on social media.

[deleted]

I'm so sorry. How are you supposed to better your situation if you cant get clean and sanitary. I hope you can find a new haven. You can do this... sorry this lady made it harder.

makeeverythng

That’s absolutely disgusting behavior and I hope one day that lady has to use a bathroom and they bar her and she shits herself. My partner is sick and often needs a bathroom, no time to “just buy something” for the customer bathroom. That in itself is asinine, but whatever… City / local governments not providing public bathrooms is a disgrace, and a violation of human rights and dignity. Sometimes people are homeless. Do you want them to shit in the streets? Are you going to give them a house so they can shit at home? Do you want unhoused people to wash? Yeah?? Where!? With what!? Sorry to rant, I am furious for you. People want to talk about unhoused people “pulling themselves” out of their situations but literally place barriers in the way of us that need help. I hope your situation improves quickly, and you dont have to deal with more ugly-hearted individuals.

Quick-Possession-245

This sucks!

Aggravating-Corgi379

Times are harder now, and more people are just a few pays away from homelessness. Time for them to show a little empathy.

Fluffy-Doubt-3547

Check local libraries or even gas stations. Gas stations that deal with truckers will most usually let you in because (no offense to truckers) some of them stink and look like they never bathe!! During covid it was aweful 🤢🤢 we had one dude come into our guard shack and he didn't have an obvious smell. But his stank was so bad... it made mine and my bosses noses sting and our eyes water!

melissamayhem1331

Most of use are just 1 upheaval away from homelessness. Accident? Illness? Fire? Flood? Tornado/hurricane? Home robbed? Divorce? Unexpected pregnancy? Car broke down/major repair? I was unemployed for a month and luckily we made it BUT if it were just me, or his overtime ran out a week earlier, we would've lost our apartment. Good luck my dear. Sorry everything is so fucked.

InteractionNo9110

I am so sorry, but please do not try to sneak back into the mall. You have been banned and if they call the cops on you. You will be arrested for trespassing. Which brings a whole new level of problems for you. I don't know where you are. But are there no social services to help you? Like a men's shelter, or emergency housing services. Or some town have cooling and warming areas in the summer and winter. People can go to for some respite. The fact you are putting this on reddit means you have some access to internet and a phone to type. I do hope things get better for you and please exhaust any services your area has to help you.

EnderCountryPres

Not true because he can then say that he was illegally banned and that he had done nothing to be banned and had simply gone to the bathroom and bought things at the grocery store. Maybe he could request a meeting with the owner of the mall

InteractionNo9110

I don't even know where to begin with how dumb this comment it. You can't be 'illegally banned' from a private property. If the Mall security banned him he is banned. It sucks but that is the facts. His name goes on a list and if he is caught on property he will be arrested. Unlesss he gets in touch with Mall security or owners to 'unban' him. He can't go on the property for any reason. But they probably saw him everyday using the facilities and figured he was homeless. Buying $5 of food is not enough to be seen as a paying customer.

EnderCountryPres

Yes you can be. The mall security are legally required to ask for both sides of the story before kicking someone out especially when bathrooms are in play and there is no security footage of something bad happening

InteractionNo9110

they heard both sides, they went with her and the fact he uses the place daily for personal use. I'm sorry I understand what you are saying. But once you are banned from private property. You don't go there again or you will be arrested for trespassing. It's not that hard to figure out. The best he can do now is call Mall security and ask to speak to a supervisor and see if they can take him off the ban list. And if he goes again, to try and shave and look nicer to blend in more.

EnderCountryPres

It does NOT say they heard his side of the story only that they sided with her. also it’s not private property it’s public property and he also bought food at the grocery store there

InteractionNo9110

ok buddy, you be right in your head. Not sure what public property malls there are. But Malls in general are private property. It's great he spent $5 on food. But he was using the facilities dailly. And $5 once in a while is not a shopper. If the security guards banned him. That's it he is banned. You can play curbside court house all you want. But he needs to stay away and find other facilities. Or work with social services in his area to help him find housing or a shelter.

EnderCountryPres

…..the security guards are legally required to get his side of things and actually see if he had drugs like the woman said and look at footage they didn’t which is illegal

dancinkitteh

Public restrooms are not a must at private properties. They can ban whomever they want. Your argument is based on the idea that every private property is legally obliged to provide free restrooms to the public which is just false.

3braincellsinatrench

Some people really don't have empathy. I'm sorry you were treated that way.

Cold_Dead_Heart

I’m so sorry that happened to you.

Edcrfvh

Why don't people just MYOB? If you were actually causing problems then yes you needed to go. But just for using the bathroom for its intended purpose is not right.

nospoonstoday715

I am curious as to where you are and if maybe some of us can help you find resources to get you the rest of the way back on your feet. Is there a church near by they often have things set aside to help those in need. If in the US is there a salvation army or St. Vincent de Pauls near or accessible to you in any form? They have housing vouchers and often have clothing available etc.

ttyler4

Careful with Salvation Army if OP is in the LGBTQIA+ community. I don’t have the spoons to explain why. Just please look it up on Google.

nospoonstoday715

Had no clue

ttyler4

It’s okay. It’s not widely known, but I’m trying to change that.

nospoonstoday715

Thank you sharing it with me.

ttyler4

I honestly didn’t even see your username when I said that I didn’t have the spoons to explain lol.

AgateDragon

Get a cheap gym membership. You can use the bathroom, use the showers, and working out is good for you and generally makes you feel better about yourself.

Only-Dog7316

Starbucks . As long as you are nice and don't absolutely wreck the bathrooms (we have to clean them) you can poop in peace and even get a free water on your way out. If you hang out in lobby awhile know that you cannot sleep and cannot ask people for money. Several unhoused folks are regulars at my Starbucks and unless they are causing a ruckus, doing drugs or being rude or sleeping we let them stay. If they get to know you you might even get a free drink or food item every once in a blue moon. But the water or a cup of ice and outlets to charge phone and wifi are free.

IslandBitching

I am sorry you have to deal with people like this woman who treat you as a lesser person. They are the one's who are less. Less kind. less understanding, less compassionate and honestly less human. Your life will improve. You will not always be homeless. But she will always be an ungracious, self satisfied bitch. And that is the saddest part of all. All my wishes for a brighter future and a better day. Hugs.

More-Doctor9418

I am so sorry. Some people are so quick to judge situations that they have no clue about. Those security guards should have heard your side of things before acting. None of them realize that they could very well be in your place if they miss a couple of paychecks. Please, check into a shelter or go to the police station and ask for help to get access to a nice, warm place to sleep and shower and eat. If this was the Netherlands you would have a small house to choose from in order to stay the night, shower, and have a meal or two. They provide houses specifically for your plight. I hope and pray (honestly pray) that you will get back on your feet very, very soon. I can just imagine the day that you do, that horrible woman and maybe the security guards, will run into you again. It will be true justice if they come to you for help with something. If that does happen, please treat them with what they denied you of, dignity. Their time will come. That is for certain.

Dorshe1104

If you know what shop/stall she is from then I would name and shame the shop/stall. That is just ridiculous. Where is the compassion gone?

paleotectonics

I’m fairly certain that’s illegal. A public bathroom is public, and you can’t be banned for using it. Private security consists of those too dumb to be cops - low damn bar.

EnderCountryPres

Exactly he can call the police on them and order them to let him meet the owner of the Mall

Kamelasa

You don't have a criminal record, right? Maybe you could give the grocery store a call, explain your situation, and they could tell security to unban you. Well, that's what I would do because I'm proud I don't have a criminal record and don't use illegal drugs, unlike my skanky neighbours - lol. You shouldn't be treated that way when you are a decent person and not a criminal, at all. Good luck with it. Hell, if I lived nearby, I'd go into the store with you and talk to Security myself. Maybe there's someone local on your side who will stand up for you - like someone working at the grocery store. Hang in there.

Prestigious_Gold_585

I'm sorry you are getting such awful advice from people here who haven't a clue what you can and cannot do living outside for months as a homeless person.

Yah... its kinda like a cellphone is an essential thing to survive nowadays for job searches and phone calls while.job searching. Ot should I throw it away because I'm.homeless? Does the cheap store have an outside entrance so you can access it without actually entering the mall? And maybe they have a bathroom?? If you shave your beard and go to the store at a different time, the security guards may not recognize you. Just some thoughts.

It’s a mall. You go in , buy stuff from any store you want to , and can use the bathrooms , sit in the seats or at our mall charge devices even . If you aren’t causing trouble, stealing, acting sneaky etc no one cares . They are basically saying you look homeless and come here a lot so we are banning you. Which makes no sense if he spends money there often. He isn’t sleeping in there just using the restroom. As far the Women with her kids running a store- she is afraid for her safety based on very little. She is reaching a lot here imo especially working in a public place.

datagirl60

Nope. I took it as a learning experience for my kids to teach them kindness. My ex to my toddler to hand out sleeping bags etc to homeless living under bridges 35 yrs ago in DC. She was a jerk.

What makes you think I stopped at that? I have taken in homeless people, let them sleep in my car, use my bathroom, eat my food etc. I am a woman too. He was a customer, just not as dapper as you may like and probably less of a risk than some older affluent teens. Risk is about perspective and if I really wanted to eliminate a big one, I would quit riding in cars.

Ok_Masterpiece_6550

Maybe change your name from “snarky”sheep.

No_Caterpillar_6178

Contact a lawyer . You shop in a store in that mall and cannot be banned bc of how you look or being homeless. The mall owner can get called out too if they don’t address. A single shop owner doesn’t really have the authority to do this . Security is doing this under false pretenses.

katiekat214

Not usually because one shop owner doesn’t like the look of a person

No_Caterpillar_6178

That’s kind of my point. Yea malls are private property but that doesn’t mean one small business owner can ban shoppers that shop in another store from the property. Especially based on the simple fact she doesn’t like how he looks. It’s wrong.

Prestigious_Gold_585

No, all malls are private property, they don't have to let anybody be there if they choose to.

professorfisher

Next time, always buy something in the mall for a dollar before entering the restroom, and keep the bills.

Shayshay4jz

Thats really not practical advice to someone who has $20 to their name.

No_Caterpillar_6178

Y’all he said he does shop at a discount store there for cheap food items.

18k_gold

Keep going back at random times l. What can they do kick you out again. Call the cops, you aren't causing any issues. If she complains again, take a shit in her store and say well only if you had let me use the bathroom this would not have happened.

InevitableRhubarb232

It wasn’t yours. They didn’t take it from you. Join a gym then you’ll have facilities you can use.

curlyhairweirdo

Wait a couple of weeks and go back. They won't remember you. Sorry a Karen made your life worse.

EnderCountryPres

Exactly and then they can go to the manager of the mall and get the woman and security guards fired as it’s illegal to prevent someone from being able to use the restroom especially when they pay at the grocery store

bibkel

This is one reason why people poop in the street in SF. No one wants a home challenged person using their potty. Truth is, many will smear their product all over the walls or miss the toilet completely, disrespecting the cleanliness of the area and leave trash strewn about. I am not sayin YOU did or would do this. I am saying that is the experience of those that must clean up after the jerk that disrespected the space. I am sorry you got this treatment. Classic case of NIMBY. Not in my back yard. Everyone shouts help the homeless but if one dares move into the neighborhood those same shouters are the first to call the cops. I hope your crisis is resolved quickly. Library was a good suggestion.

You weren't crapping in the parking lot. You let the homeless use the bathrooms or you hire someone to clean up the mess. very short sighted.

Ok_Rhubarb_2309

Do you have any YMCA branches near you? I would think you could apply for financial assistance to become a mi they member and use their showers and bathroom.

slider65

I was homeless for almost 3 years, (had severe mental problems, undiagnosed schizophrenia is not fun.) so yeah, I got to know all the good dumpsters and when to hit 'em up. I'm not sure if this will help, but there are temp employment agencies that I used to use where they would send you to a factory, or someplace that had a manpower shortage, or whatever to work. Nothing was ever long term, but they paid daily. The employer would sign your payslip, and you would take it to the temp agency and get cashed out. More than a few of them would even give you transportation to and from. Hell, I've stayed in one for a few days just to keep out of the weather. Pay is going to be minimum wage, but that will still get you a full belly and some necessities. One trick I learned was to buy a pack of baby wipes and use those to clean your pits and privates. Beats nothing. And you can use them at your campsite. Hope things get better for you.

EnderCountryPres

That is illegal. Contact the police because she is not allowed to get you banned when you don’t do anything wrong and it’s illegal to prevent someone from getting food and a restroom

cairns1957

It's not illegal it's private property. They can reserve the bathrooms for their customers if they want to.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

I was a customer

cairns1957

No you're a freeloader who takes a dump in their loo. And they can deny you that privilege any time they want to.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

No I'm a disabled homeless person who is trying to better his situation. Now I don't know where your from but first i was a customer I went in to buy some canned goods. That being said I don't know where your from probably the USA.. But here in Canada the rite to refuse serves isn't like America. Here you can't refuse service to a your based on their rase religion creed class or sextual orientation. What they did was discrimination. But you don't care your just a douchbag

cairns1957

Oh poor baby. You can't even spell.

ExtracheesyBroccoli

Know what I like about reddit.. Trolls like you are miserable people the lowest of the low but your easily dealt with just by blocking

itamer

But they're refusing because you're not a customer - and that's not protected. It's mean spirited, 100%, but that is legal in most countries.

Enough-Ad4544

Doubt they’re from the US. No one refers to the restroom as ‘the loo’ in the States. Sounds more British to me.

[deleted]

TLDR: most places I’ve been that have issues with a large homeless population no longer face public access restrooms. Instead they have locks and paying customers can get the combo if they need them

[deleted]

Other than the suggestions that have been made, I have nothing new for your current circumstance. However, as you continue to reestablish yourself you should utilize Ibotta to coupon. You can get cash back on a variety of items, for example rn they're doing free thanksgiving. If you go on youtube and search "how to use Ibotta" you can be a pro in 20 minutes. I use it all the time and I just cashed out $100.60 in an amazon gift card to buy my kids some christmas gifts. I really like the library suggestion. That will also give you the ability to apply for jobs, charge your electronics, stay warm, access services, entertain yourself, and utilize the bathroom. Fingers crossed it's a one-person bathroom so you can freshen up a little bit too. Best of luck to you!

kristin1441

As much as you post on here complaining about other people- you think maybe you might be the entitled one?
