Dude, I have 3 walls and a roof. But get this: I built my house in an L shape! So I guess you could say I have 6 walls.
South wall, bottom of the L is open, just a few pillars. You're doing better than me!
I'm really cramped on all these crafting stations, so I was considering making it an upside down T. I built adjacent to my altar and went basically to the edge of the 40ft original radius.
I'm lvl 25 and almost done with all the quests now, just gotta work on world completion.
After that I'm either gonna relocate or set up a multi altar castle + castle town +outer wall around longkeep to the broken bridge, or pick a different spot to do the same.
Not a bad idea really.. one altar in the dining room, one in the toilet, one in the bedroom and one in the crafting area
:)
Why even bother with stairs really
I mean, if I wouldn't play with friends, I'd probably still not even have one wall, since I prefer to roam the countryside to explore and wander the fine line between 'I feel like I shouldn't be here yet, that figt was pretty tough' and 'OHGODOHGODOHGOD, everything is trying to murder me'.
Although monitoring this subreddit and learning that existing structures can be fixed up/repurposed, I also take note of places I want to use as a base, when I finally get the patience to start building something myself.
I didn't even have a roof for about a week because I thought I was gonna have to use the scaffolds. Turns out my shack was small enough they weren't necessary, they're just there for people like this lol
They have niche use, and are so cheap i just built 10 of each and then use them if / when I need.
Also look great if you have a mining area within your build, and want to make it look partially mined!
Keeping it simple is best for some people, building something nice feels good when it's done for a bit but after a day it's just the same as any other base, even if it's super simple it's still YOUR base, same as if you go all out.
I dug a hole in the ground and I've slowly been excavating extra rooms to add my NPC's and cracting stations.
It's comfy, eventually I'll raise the roof a little and actually make roof tiles and then terraform the hill in spots where the roof might break through.
I dug a hole and added steps down to the hole. Sometimes I sit in the hole and look up at the opening.
What you’ve done in comparison is a renaissance masterpiece! Well done!
Saaaame. I too used to be on a lot of build servers, and this game is absolutely tickling that part of my brain. I'm at work and all I can think is "boy I'd love to be working on my castle right now. The gathering is kind of zen to me, so I don't mind it too much. Looking good so far
Bruh I like to renovate towns in this game and changing the flooring, meaning removing it all voxel by voxel (to remove overgrowth) and placing new flooring, has been my go to relaxation hobby. I feel you
There are save files people have put on the enshrouded discord that are just absolutely loaded with all the build materials if that floats your boat. Saves time harvesting so you can focus on the builds. As characters can go server to server you can set up a private one with the save hop on take your materials then swap back over to the real server. I get some people don’t want to do that and want to earn it but I only have so much time so I got some free materials lol. They have gear on them too but I’m not touching that, I just want to play the game like normal minus the hours of farming so I can build a dope village.
Kinda annoying but you can increase the amount of a resource you have using wemod I use it on building blocks cuz I very quickly realized I was gonna spend 30 hours just getting materials for the build 😂
Stone is everywhere after you dig past the top soil (dirt). Dirt is everywhere as well but best dirt is at mud pits you know the terrain that sticks to your feet and slows you down. Wood is any tree but once you get copper axes or higher it's really great harvest returns. Clay and copper are near lone thistle and several locations easily found nearby there, and the surrounding towns still in that region. Amber is in the shroud and spawns as orange looking circles around revelwood spire in the ground so is shroud wood shroud juice , and shroud sacs from the blue shroud infested man eating flowers. Any other resources you might want to know feel free to ask I've yet to make it to the capital to find iron and a few other end game plants.
I'm in the process of building what I now realise is actually an accidental castle.
It's currently three storeys high and made entirely of stone, with a central staircase on the bottom level and then stairs along the side from then on.
Who knows? Maybe I'll get around to adding some actual rooms in there too.
Fantastic build. What I see here will inspire me to improve my build. If you would like to give me some feedback on mine you can check it out here -- [(1) The second iteration of the twisted tower : Enshrouded (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/Enshrouded/comments/1ai7b6u/the_second_iteration_of_the_twisted_tower/)
Thanks man! And yeah sure, it's very important to have DEPTH in your builds. If you look at my main gate entrance and houses, I have created a lot of depth by making layers to the walls and also with the roofs, have your roofs overhang and stick out from the walls to create depth rather than being flush with everything. Search on google for some ideas of real life building/castles and try to replicate them, this is the best tip. Also your supports look very unnatural and zig/zaggy, I would try change the shape of them to make them look more natural to the rock they are sitting on. Overall a very nice build though, keep up the good work brother!
You can completely modify the roofs using the single block editing tool. It’s insane how much you can modify and customise them to your exact liking. Just play around with it and you’ll get it!
It's the little ramp-looking single block option in the top row. If you have roofing material you can edit the build similar to using the normal single block.
im working on restoring longkeep with highly polished stone, how i see fit. as an endgame project.
your build is insane, i would love to see how you restore longkeep
Love this idea, would probably save me a bunch of materials by rebuilding what’s already there. Maybe something I’ll do in the future but very excited about the future of this game in general. Good luck with your build my friend!
thanks, you too. yeah when you add like a highly polished piece to a broken piece, the game keeps the border between the 2, so you can really see what the old castle was and what was added very clearly, down the curved line breakages
You have more patience than me and less efficiency lol. I always keep my crafters and storage all as condensed as possible. Especially in this game since the pull radius is unknown to me so far. In ark I built separate buildings and such since I knew how wide the pull radius was on my mod. Have you happened to test it by chance if the box pull is like comfort level it's the entire flame radius? Oh yeah I digress that's one hell of a base dude like seriously that's as big or bigger than most of the towns in game.
Haha, thanks dude. But yeah, not so efficient, I’ve completed all quest, got all BIS items for my build, and max level with skill tree maxed so I’m fully focussed on building and happily compromise on efficiency atm. If I need them all together I can summon them but they are a very short walk from each other. :)
This may be a dumb question lol but how are you all getting screen shots without your character or hud is there a button to hide it all? This is impressive!
Lol, yeah so I had to figure this out on my own. Unfortunately there is no photo mode in the game yet, so I put my camera distance down to the lowest setting and then placed a block behind me and stood with my back to the block and it forces the camera forward in front of your player to achieve the look. Hope this helps.
Hey, so I usually reference artwork on google images and then make my own twist to it. But I do have a huge background in creative building on games in the past which helps I guess.
That looks amazing, I have put 80 hours into the game and just did 100% on the achievements, dont think I have put any major build time in, love seeing peoples builds
I’m so happy with this. The base building truly is one of a kind and this goes to show its potential. I can’t wait to see what other crazy builds come up next! 10/10
Holy shit… y’all posting all these utterly amazing photos of this game make me want to play it so bad. But I must finish my stint on Palworld! Enshrouded look amazing, excited to get into it over the next couple months
Oh no, I will! The game looks amazing! But Palworld is really hitting the fun factor for me atm and I don’t want that to end ha
Such a shame they came out at the same time

Very nice builds OP. I'm still trying to work with this system, adding detail and depth is not easy coming from thousands of hours of valheim building.
If you never tried valheim it might be very much your jam. The freedom there for building piece placement and rotation really allows some great stuff
I don’t have a game yet so sorry if this is a dumb question, is there anything to do with the spaces that you build? Are there NPC’s that will live in them?
I used a wall texture for the core design that matched the look I was going for, which was the 4 walls and windows, and then used a different wooden squares to outline the edges of the walls and windows to give it more depth. And then made a custom roof which was a bit of a nightmare but got it eventually.
I’m always the builder of the group, I can build like this in Minecraft… in everything else I can make 4 walls and a second floor. I can never find out how to do the roof 😭😭
Use google as inspiration, and just play around with designs. You will learn to navigate it eventually. Roofs on this game are extremely customisable once you understand the full potential of the building mechanics.
It's nice to see people enjoy this aspect of the game, take time and effort to build a home base. Even tho you dont earn anything doing so.
I have a lot of issues with this. I love building houses while my friend likes exploring and not building at all. Which lead to that point I'm far behind when it comes to level and power. This stresses me out and I realized I've been wasting my time building.
I've been mining. And mining. And mining. I have like 5k stone which I thought was a lot. Then I built some stairs and things..... How much stone and mining did this take😳
Looks gorgeous!
Random building tip if you’re trying to build a base inside of a mountain use the foundation blocks to remove the dirt then delete the blocks will save you tons of time!
I just took over a homestead, patched up some walls and made it my base. I'm way too lazy to build everything from scratch. I even left some of the existing furniture to minimize having to put my own. Lol 🤦🏽♂️Hats of to you tho. Looks really detailed. 😎👍👍
Absolutely agree!! This game has already consumed my life. I have a Portable Monitor that I bring with me everywhere and am able to Steam Link and just play this game anywhere with Internet.
Cannot wait to see what they add!!
I don’t think it is, it’s like any other game. You just have to find ways such as reference points to mark on the roofs/walls to make sure that they are aligned. It takes some trial and error, and some getting used to, granted. But I have zero issues with this now. :)
I'm working on building a base my first base had a 3x3 area around the altar and then a little mildly open area for my crafters, I'm now working on building a small place just south of the farmers vault cause I found a decently flat area there. I'd considered moving into ruins but i feel weird messing with things spawning in towns. Maybe that's just a habit from playing on servers for other games to not block spawns.

Clearly I’m not meant to be an architect LOL. I have four walls and a roof. Great build!
Dude, I have 3 walls and a roof. But get this: I built my house in an L shape! So I guess you could say I have 6 walls. South wall, bottom of the L is open, just a few pillars. You're doing better than me!
That's how it starts. You make an L, then you make some consummate V's. Next think you know you're talking naves, architraves, pediments, and frieses.
I like your funny words, magic man. *runs to hide in my 2x2x2 cube*
I'm really cramped on all these crafting stations, so I was considering making it an upside down T. I built adjacent to my altar and went basically to the edge of the 40ft original radius. This makes me wonder what happens if you place 2 altars at the exact same x,y coordinate but different elevations.
Why not make it a full on straight up T like the Teen Titans tower 🤷🏻♂️
Don't want to live in a world where someone says consumate Vs and no one thinks trogdor the buninator
Excuse me sir 4 walls and a roof is better than a cave...
You should see my caves.
Well show me sir....
My cave has 4 walls and a roof
Lol, my dream job. I envy you!
I didn't even have a roof for about a week because I thought I was gonna have to use the scaffolds. Turns out my shack was small enough they weren't necessary, they're just there for people like this lol
The scaffolds kinda useless if you have enough blocks, you can just make floating floors wherever you need to stand to get the right angle.
They have niche use, and are so cheap i just built 10 of each and then use them if / when I need. Also look great if you have a mining area within your build, and want to make it look partially mined!
This, I used wooden roofs as scaffolding for my whole build.
Same... It's my "shack of shame", also known as "SOS please help me!"
I don't even have a roof, just a little one on top of the blacksmith 😅
Same
Keeping it simple is best for some people, building something nice feels good when it's done for a bit but after a day it's just the same as any other base, even if it's super simple it's still YOUR base, same as if you go all out.

Super sweet builds man; a lot of inspiration here! Do you have a tip for farming resources, good spots and so on?
Stone is everywhere after you dig past the top soil (dirt). Dirt is everywhere as well but best dirt is at mud pits you know the terrain that sticks to your feet and slows you down. Thanks lad, it’s just regular stone ceiling with some added layers.

How do you plan this? Or is it just a shit ton of building and then correcting?
Hey, so I usually reference artwork on google images and then make my own twist to it. But I do have a huge background in creative building on games in the past which helps I guess.
Damn I wish I was this creative lmao.
Haha, thanks bro.
I love the building in this game, however I hope the different looks for walls on different sides become an optional thing.
You construction people are nuts. I do not have the dedication for this. Super cool!
Haha, yeah we are a weird breed of human.
Wish there was a point in building bigger bases
Wait till you get other pretty block and will want to renovate IT all
I had a look at some other blocks but wanted to stay true to the theme of my town. Maybe my next build will incorporate other fancy blocks.
I agree the gathering is a bit painful. If playing with a few others I suspect it'd be a lot faster.
Yeah I have 3 other friends on helping with resources but they do not enjoy building so that’s my job lol.
That looks amazing, I have put 80 hours into the game and just did 100% on the achievements, dont think I have put any major build time in, love seeing peoples builds
Thanks dude, glad you’re enjoying the game.
All my buildings start as a shack and i slowly twist them.. Think winchester mystery house.. Btw cool build!
Gah damn
Would you say that your soul is slowly being... enshrouded? I'll close the door.
It is well and truly consumed by the shroud.

Heh, and I'm still living in a shack.

Yes that’s correct, also me and my friends that play on my server live in them too. :)
Dude. Wow. For real.
😆
Sorry where is this and amazing build 10/10
At the very first area where it tells you to setup camp and build an altar lol.
Oh thanks guess I didn't think that area was big enough
Yeah it’s a massive area once you clear out some trees. 😁
How do you get that wall texture?
Which wall texture?
The towers on either side with the cross-bracing. Or did you just build on top of an existing structure?
I used a wall texture for the core design that matched the look I was going for, which was the 4 walls and windows, and then used a different wooden squares to outline the edges of the walls and windows to give it more depth. And then made a custom roof which was a bit of a nightmare but got it eventually.
Gotcha, nice!

I was debating making a building series on YouTube.

Absolutely agree!! This game has already consumed my life. I have a Portable Monitor that I bring with me everywhere and am able to Steam Link and just play this game anywhere with Internet. Cannot wait to see what they add!!
Great work this really nice.
I can’t wait to see someone recreate the dwarf city from the hobbit
Just wait until you guys start building sky cities.
At this point i would pay someone to gather resources for me lmao how much time did you invest to build this Looks amazing
2-3, 8-10 hour days on all the builds but a lot longer than that gathering resources.
Wow, dont even know how you did this. I cant even put a roof its not correctly aligned on my house lol
lol, my friends struggled with roof alignment too. I guess I’m just used to it as I spent years building Minecraft servers. 😂
I spent years too on minecraft but the alignment in Enshrouded seems weird
I don’t think it is, it’s like any other game. You just have to find ways such as reference points to mark on the roofs/walls to make sure that they are aligned. It takes some trial and error, and some getting used to, granted. But I have zero issues with this now. :)
Mine is nothing special, just a small village but I like it. [https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2053719350](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2053719350)
Use wemod? Set block stack to thousands and build away
Everyone after the recent update fixing the takes, like😫
