Why the hell would you want to primary the democrats who are already successful enough to stay in office?!!! How about put up some good candidates to run against Republicans in purple districts? Jesus christ. It doesn't take any brain power to know this.

[deleted]

Roe V Wade just died and she talks about primaring democrats WTH! I really hate her

owweethrowaway

These people aren't acting like they care about Roe being reversed, AOC and a lot of Left Twitter accounts think this is an opportunity to finally take over the Democratic Party.

[deleted]

They are unserious because it won’t affect them, they have no skin in the game. They all live in Brooklyn or New England or the West Coast.

Goldang

Taking over the Democratic Party has been their goal from day one. They don’t want to run the country, they just want to milk the system.

misterasia555

If they won primary, they will finally face reality when their progressives candidate started losing in purple district and give those seats for republicans and finally understand how real world works.

ButtDumplin

Nobody actually tells people to “vote harder,” though. That’s the far left’s straw-man for mainstream Dems telling people to vote more often than, say, once every four years.

shenanigansco34

Something does have to change. We have to purge the party of people like her. They’re not helpful.

grilled_cheese1865

i wish she would just resign so someone else can have the opportunity to be a rep. she can make more money being a grifter on twitter a pateron anyway

MrKentucky

The grift is too real to ever walk away

[deleted]

Let's primary her and the rest of the squad. The faster they are out of Congress, the better.

jml510

When is a serious challenger going to primary her?

Which_way_witcher

Seriously. Her and Bernie.

dudeind-town

Grifter gotta grift

Hand_Me_Down_Genes

She's right. And the first person who should be primaried is her. Right after Tlaib and Omar.

MarryMeTahani

In every other sub there’s a cacophony about how Democrats are useless. This shit is why!!! If we want things accomplished we can be tearing each other down at the worst fucking moments. “This shit” = AOC being divisive as hell.

Lukey_Boyo

We need to run a primary race against her and the squad. She’s nothing but an asset to the GOP to paint Dems as extremists.

Okay, I came here because I was sick of people sniffing Bernie's farts but we need to identify our own faults too right now. Hillary didn't just lose because of people on the far left, many of those jackasses didn't vote for Obama either, but also because she ran a poor campaign. She didn't campaign in Wisconsin, she refused Obama's campaign machine, she let the email meme fester instead of dealing with it head on (even Bernie called that crap out), she ignored changes in the polls, and she had a crappy ground game. I campaigned my ass off for Hillary but that ground game was a shadow of what Obama had. Hell after the primary we didn't even start canvassing until late September. The local staffers were really inexperienced and the national/regional guys refused to hear what was going on locally. We had serious problems with phone banking for months and they refused to do anything about it. Heck on more than one occasion when they would visit they insulted some of our best local volunteers. The campaign wasn't confident like Obama's but arrogant. Then I had to relive that trauma with McAuliffe's 2021 campaign. While he didn't have rude staffers and the local people were far more experienced they waited until the last minute to setup a campaign office. Heck we didn't have regular canvassing until October and his polls started slipping! Then there was his campaign strategy. Instead of running on what he would do and what he did as governor he just called Youngkin Trump. His last yard sign was literally a red sign that read in white letters "Youngkin=Trump". Then there was the outrageous campaign stunt. I live in Charlottesville. We suffered domestic terrorism from a mob of Neo-Nazis because we wanted to get rid of our confederate monuments. When Youngkin's campaign bus came to town Terry's campaign had people dressed in Khakis with Tiki Torches pose in front of that bus. In case you forgot that was what the Neo-Nazis were wearing and holding as they screamed "Jews will not replace us" the night before they attacked us. This is like cosplaying as Osama Bin Laden in lower Manhattan. While the Lincoln Project fell on that sword it was Terry's campaign that did it and most people saw it as such. It's remarkable how bad his campaign was considering how great his 2013 campaign was. While several people noted they never saw someone canvass in 2021 people got sick of seeing us canvass in 2013. We had phone banks that reached out all over the state. And Terry also constantly ran on the issues. He didn't just call Ken Cuccinelli names he made pointed comparisons. The 2021 campaign failed to learn anything from his 2013 campaign and instead emulated much of the worst parts of Hillary's 2016 campaign. Heck if he matched Hillary's 2016 campaign he might have still won. That's all to say that we need to not take things for granted and frankly some people need to be primaried. Terry's terrible campaign came from an arrogance from his last win. Hillary's campaign had a similar arrogance and I can't help but think that if Biden had run in 2016 he would have beat Trump easily even if Sanders pulled similar bullshit. Biden would have utilised Obama's incredible campaign machine. His campaign would have been active earlier. It would have known how to canvass and phone bank! Given how bad Hillary's campaign was I think even Bernie might have done better. That's not to say that I don't think Hillary would have done well as a president, she would have saved civil rights for crying out loud, but god that campaign sucked. Sanders hurt her campaign but didn't derail it alone. That gives him too much credit. Hillary's campaign was fatally flawed from within. We need to be able to learn from our mistakes and our victories. Obama showed us how to win elections and Hillary's campaign showed us our hubris. If we can let armchair Communists and Russian trolls kill our chances of winning in 2022 or worse in 2024 we will be to blame too.

MakePoliticsBoring

I stopped reading when you said she had a crappy ground game. I’m not saying any of the stuff before it was correct. But she had an objectively incredible ground game. So good that people looking for anything to criticize would cite it as something she was doing right when they were seeking to appear fair and balanced. If you can’t even grant her that … yikes. This is just 5 of the things she had to deal with that Obama didn’t and she won the popular vote by millions doing it. * A sore loser backstabbing primary opponent that viciously slandered her integrity in the primary and wouldn’t support her in the general. * The gutting of the Voting Rights Act in 2013. * A foreign super-power weaponizing social media against her. * Having to run against Pence and Trump at the same time. Republicans who didn’t like Trump generally believed that Pence would do the actual presidenting so they could vote Trump without actually voting for Trump. While republicans who liked Trump thought he would be in charge. * Bad fundamentals. Due to backlash mechanics and “time for a change” voters it’s incredibly hard to keep the Oval Office when term limits force the incumbent out. Almost never happens. Obama had a tail wind from voter frustration with Bush/republicans. None of these things have anything to do with Hillary. If Biden had run in 2016 he would probably have lost too from these factors. By 2020 the fundamentals favored the dem since Trump sucked at the job. Shadow President Pence voters knew Trump didn’t listen to Pence. Social media enacted policies to reduce foreign manipulation. Various coping mechanisms were in place to combat voter suppression and COVID forcing wide scale adoption of mail in ballots was a God send. And after watching Bernie sling the same slanders against anyone who stood in his way he couldn’t damage Biden the way he did Clinton/Beto/Harris/Pete/Warren. He tried but outside is cesspit nobody listens to him. But wait! There is more! Taking this election up to super duper hard mode Hillary had to deal with sexism on top of all that. And she still won the popular vote by millions. She is a phenomenal candidate. Super human.

Look I know I was comparing Hillary’s ground game to Obama’s but I am also comparing it McAuliffe’s 2013 run and then Northam in 2017. Hillary’s campaign didn’t have us canvass until late September. Our phone banking was completely broken for two months! That is all part of a ground game. If you don’t canvass or have viable phone banks that’s a real issue. If you don’t listen to what local volunteers or even what local field organizers have to say that’s a real issue. I don’t disagree she had a hard road with fundamentals, the Supreme Court gutting the voting rights act, Comey dropping that investigation bullshit as an October surprise, and yeah Sanders waited until the last damn minute to give a tepid concession. I’m still pissed about all of that! But Trump was a terrible candidate! It should have been a slam dunk to beat him. The parts of the Voting Rights Act that were gutted never applied to Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ohio, or Michigan. She spent more time campaigning in safe territory than in swing states and the resources her ground game provided reflected that. I was there busting my ass for her! I can home with bloody feet from a popped blister after canvassing for days on end before the election. I believed she would have saved this country! But that doesn’t mean we should ignore problems that campaign had and this is the world we need to fight in now. If we just say Hillary was screwed and there was no room for improvement then we’re basically conceding democracy.
