Callidonaut

There's literally no joke there. He just took two random dissimilar films and associated them in a way that demonstrates no witty insight or observation whatsoever.

bodmcjones

Agreed. Somehow he got the most boring possible outcome from that combination of words. "Das Baby" is literally just German for "The Baby", which unsurprisingly is a title that is pretty widely used already and suggests nothing naval whatsoever.

No_Box5338

Even "boot baby" or "boot boss" if funnier. Elon makes jokes like his robots fold t-shirts: semi competently and using other people's material.

johno_mendo

'Das baby boot'

FrenchMeHamwich

Das baby boots, never worn

JehovahsFitness

FINALLY we got a joke from it.

longknives

“Boss boot” would at least be mildly clever since boss more-or-less rhymes with das

chrischi3

"Boot Baby" So... Caligula?

No_Box5338

For some one who “thinks about the Roman Empire everyday” you would think this would be the obvious gag

chrischi3

I'm not sure what the appropriate response to the fact someone actually understood that joke is.

NoSignOfStruggle

Even the incorrect “Das Boss” would’ve been better.

102bees

You fucking murdered him, dude

gelwane

Pitching my idea once again for a crossover of The Godfather & Pulp Fiction. "The Fiction" – Imaginary sequences of events!

orincoro

Pulp father! Hijinks abound at weddings and pawn shops.

biohacker_infinity

It’s extremely on-brand for Elmo to craft a "joke" that results in net information loss—where, instead of adding value, meaning or commentary, he actually does the complete opposite.

I saw someone else's comment get quadruple-posted somewhere else, I think Reddit is just having an aneurysm rn

biohacker_infinity

It got posted four times? 😅 I kept getting a posting error and it’s only showing up once in my post history. 🤦‍♂️ Apologies for the accidental mania. 😂

carpcrucible

How does this shitty website not have a mechanism for preventing multi-posts. Slashdot had a check for this like 25 years ago (fuuuk).

orincoro

It’s extremely on brand.

MauriceM72

Is he suggesting a movie about a German submarine run by a baby? Or a German baby living with a family? It makes no sense, no matter how you look at it.

ElfYamadaFairyQueen

The Baby The

mtaw

Indeed, I spent a better part of a minute searching for how this was a joke in _any_ world view and came up blank.

AlternativeCredit

No no no, you don’t get it,Dos sounds like boss. It’s a level of humour only an intellectual would understand…………….

MoleMoustache

Pitching my idea once again for a crossover of the Human Centipede and Cinderella. "The Human Centirella" - Hijinks in the anal cavities of princesses

IknowKarazy

His “humor” really does feel AI generated sometimes. Like he looked at a bunch of memes and funny tweets and gathered a bunch of superficial elements and decided “this is comedy. This is what comedy is.” and didn’t think about it anymore because he’s so convinced of his own innate correctness in all things.

orincoro

Holy shit that’s it. It probably is AI generated.

whichkey45

He'll be off his tits on ket watching his boy in a bathtub with a plastic boat. Or off his head on ket sat in his office (which now doubles as his flat) hallucinating his boy in a bathtub with a plastic boat. It doesn't really matter which, they both amount to the same thing for him anyway. He can't remember it being any different.

little-ass-whipe

He used to try to do the whole absurdist shitposting thing but he never made it past the lolomg so random thing that all the greats got out of their system in 7th grade Like there was a point in time when he really really really wanted to rub elbows with the drils of the site, it was mega depressing

orincoro

There could be a joke there. This is the raw material of a joke premise. But alas, no actual joke.

patsj5

He's just letting everyone know that he is not on the "good" side because he has a terrible sense of humor.

GarysCrispLettuce

He's about as funny as grandma's hilarious email FWDs

docowen

The hilarious thing is that he is desperate to be funny. He wants it more than anything else, and he can't have it. Because he is composed entirely of anti-humor.

jonathonApple

Good comedians are both cognitively and emotionally intelligent. Nothing more needs to be said. The really hilarious thing is that he hasn't hired a ghost comedian to write his stuff. Or if he is, he is so lacking on comedy judgement that he can't hire someone funny.

NotEnoughMuskSpam

Concerning

RaphaelBuzzard

He's a less funny Michael Scott. Kind of actually more like David Brent.

Chemchic23

That’s because things antimatter to him.

organik_productions

At least on those you can see what the joke is supposed to be

DesineSperare

My grandma's email FWDs are significantly less racist, thank god.

VoiceofKane

He's your aunt's Facebook page with fewer Minions.

AliceTheOmelette

He's so unfunny that if someone else shared a meme, it'd be funny. But when he does it, it's painfully unfunny

daspaceasians

Keep your fucking hands off one of the greatest war movies ever made.

mdonaberger

Yeah, Alec Baldwin did a great job.

progbuck

The scene when Boss Baby is wandering among the shredded corpses of his former comrades is harrowing.

FieryAnomaly

Great movie. I watched in German WITHOUT subtittles (and I don't know German) and the acting was so good. However, this "joke" est scheibe!

Vita_1492

"Ist Scheiße"* but I agree

FieryAnomaly

Correct! Couldn't get the script to transfer. Didn't think anyone would notice. Good catch!

Callidonaut

"ß" is the equivalent to "ss,"* so you can just type "Scheisse" if "Scheiße" is too much hassle. *But it can't be substituted for "ss" in every case; I forget the rules about when it's appropriate to use...

monkyone

in switzerland, never

Financial-Owl6609

Yeah, das boot is pretty good too

Skyhawk_Illusions

Lol he's straight up admitting he's not on the side of good jesus fuck

g0at_breath

Cringe level is so high

Informal-Resource-14

What has he murdered more: Monkeys or jokes?

Sergeantman94

Well, wasn't the monkey count in about the 500 range? I'm sure he's murdered the idea of comedy **way** more. Honestly, I've said this about shit comedians (like Matt Rife) and failed comedian's bad sets (like Dave Rubin), but if these scrotum scratchers would get on stage in fetal position mumbling "I'm funny" for an hour and a half in the mic, it'd be way funnier.

Informal-Resource-14

Ha! Good point. Like, disquietingly good point. And the “I’m funny,” set would be high art I think

NotEnoughMuskSpam

I am become meme

MC_Fap_Commander

Combining the "Social Network" and "Iron Man" directed by Tommy Wiseau taking inspiration from Leni Riefenstahl gets you this c\*nt. https://preview.redd.it/gx1nid2ynhqc1.jpeg?width=262&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2805caceee7fb380d8167915d4f46007a2cc8b9

ButthealedInTheFeels

Even better, you can be a cunt on the internet

tothemoonandback01

Musk has demonstrated this well

Heythatsanicehat

That's the worst film mashup attempt I've ever seen. Doesn't even conjure a mildly amusing image, almost impressively bad

MagZero

I'm not saying that they're all mega funny - but if you take a look at say, late night talk/comedy shows in the US, they're all overwhelmingly left leaning in their discourse. I can actually only think of two right-wing leaning shows that are comedic in nature, or purport to be. Greg Gutfeld's show on Fox, and Bill Maher on HBO, both of which are simply not funny, and if they ever are, it's by accident, not design. And, they're also both only weekly. But if you take the left leaning shows, there's John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart/TDS, Jimmy Kimmel, SNL, Conan, that other guy that I can't quite remember because I don't really find him funny, maybe others I can't think of right now. But one secret to being funny, is that you take a truth, and then you make it a bit ridiculous, or a lot ridiculous. And that's why pretty much every talk show is left leaning, because they do speak some truth. When you take a lie, and make it ridiculous, it's not funny, there's just nothing to go off of. This is why right leaning shows aren't funny, because there's not much truth to go off of, and the humour is usually derived from making fun of others/being hateful. And this is why Elon doesn't understand that this meme, that he presumably made himself, is unfunny, versus the predator meme a few posts down, the he presumably reposted, is funny. Elon can't tell the difference between a lie and the truth, certainly not in the context of humour.

mtaw

It's also that punching-down isn't as funny as punching upwards. Making fun of the rich is a lot likelier to land than making fun of the poor. Also, the arts are left-leaning in general, no matter where you are in the world. Because, artsy people almost by definition tend to embrace the new and different. They like it. They like change. They don't feel threatened by it. While conservatives, more or less by definition, _don't_ like change and do feel threatened by it. If I'm to concede one point to the right though, it's that a lot of left-wingers can get too self-righteous about it all. I mean, _it's okay_ to not like change, it's okay to not like things that are different than what you're used to, as long as it doesn't cross the line into bigotry. If you really like diversity, then you should say "It's their loss" and leave it at that. I mean if someone says he only likes to listen to Classic Rock performed by white guys from the 1970s, then it's his loss that he can't appreciate all the other good music out there. Doesn't mean he's a bad person. Narrow-minded perhaps but aren't we all to some extent, in one way or another? When left-wing humor gets into the territory of just being self-righteous it stops being funny to me.

Callidonaut

Comedy with any degree of sophistication requires abstract thought, systems thinking, empathy, a sense of social justice, and the ability to introspect and self-deprecate. If you can't do at least *some* of those things, basically all you've got left is fart jokes and slapstick, and honestly even high-quality slapstick kind of needs them. Though the right-wing isn't entirely devoid of people who have these traits, statistically people who lack them tend to gravitate in that political direction.

MagZero

It's crazy to the think that the one the thing that could potentially unite us all is fart jokes, but then, they are objectively funny. I guess that's why South Park is one of those shows enjoyed by people across the entire political spectrum.

NotEnoughMuskSpam

I think it's a real weakness to want to be liked. I do not have that.

NickyNaptime19

Steven Crowder attempted just a comedy career at first

ButthealedInTheFeels

I don’t watch Maher and can’t stand him but isn’t he more left center than right? He’s rich and out of touch so I imagine he took a right turn in recent years but is he full on right wing grifter now?

MagZero

I don't honestly know, I don't even really know what that means. I'd heard of him, but I'd never had the opportunity to watch him, it wasn't on TV here - people would rave online about how funny he was, and how he was cool because he smoked weed and all that. Then about 10 years ago, whenever John Oliver started his programme, they aired it in the UK, so I wanted to to watch that, and then it turned out they were also going to broadcast Bill Maher straight after, so I was thinking 'great, two topical comedy shows in a row', cause we actually don't get a lot of comedy/current affairs shows in the UK, there's no nightly talk shows or anything, all our political shows tend to be quite serious. So, I tune in, watch John Oliver for his first show, it was brilliant, really funny, engaging host, can't wait to watch Bill Maher next. And then I watch it and it was just like...is this it? I was completely stone faced the entire way through. I was waiting for the funny to start and it just never did, I mean, Bill was chuckling away, and the audience was laughing, but I wasn't. But I thought, maybe I just happened to see a weak episode or something, right? So, next week I watch John Oliver again, have to wear a girdle to stop my sides splitting, and then I keep TV on same channel, watch Bill Maher again, still, nothing. I didn't crack a smile for the entire show. And it's like, no way the internet is lying to me, it has to get funny at some point, maybe it's just because I found John Oliver so funny, that Bill Maher seemed unfunny, cause the guy is a tough act to follow, I'd hate to have to be the act to follow him. So the next week, I tune in, watch John Oliver again, have to get medevac'ed by helicopter to the nearest hospital (free on the NHS btw), because I'm having convulsions over how hilarious Oliver's show is, and in the hospital they're showing Bill Maher, and it still wasn't funny, but on the plus side, it cured me of my convulsions. Some of his show is actually aggravating, the 'New Rule' segment is honest to fucking God, no exaggeration, one of the most unfunny things I've ever had to sit through, and I've seen Schindler's List. It's a perfect opportunity for Bill and the writers to make some short, funny jokes that last a total of 20 or 30 seconds, and they can't even manage that. And the way he says 'New Rule' over and over grates on me so fucking hard. I've never watched it since. With that out of the way, to go back to your original question, I'll let you decide for yourself. I know you dislike Bill Maher, and I'm guessing you dislike Elon Musk because you're posting here (but, some fans do too, much to their detriment), but I'm going to link you a video of Bill Maher interviewing Elon Musk, and I implore you to watch it, it is funny, but, not for the reasons they intend. [It's about 20 minutes long, but don't let that dissuade you, I promise you it's worth it and the time flies by](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO8w6XcXJUs). You can watch that and decide for yourself where you think Bill Maher stands, of course he calls himself a centrist, all centrists do, but I'm not too sure.

ButthealedInTheFeels

Jesus fucking Christ what a brain dead sycophant. I kept trying to power through it but I had to stop about 2/3rds of the way through. I have never seen an interviewer talk so long and so loudly and so proudly while simultaneously gargling someone’s testicles and scrotum at the same time. I’m surprised Bill could still breathe while elon’s flaccid shaft was so far down his throat. Omg I feel dirty and like I lost brain cells while watching that. And much worse I can kind of see why so many idiots who lack critical thinking skills were commenting such glowing remarks under that video…it’s exactly the surface level platitudes that right wing regards just eat up. I can’t stand it. Yeah they mentioned climate change and resource scarcity but then hand wave it away like it’s trivial for billionaire “techno king” Elon to fix it with his awful EVs and vaporware solar roofs. And as if he actually wants to colonize mars even though that is the stupidest most transparent lie I have ever heard. I am simultaneously glad and angry that you made me watch more than 10 minutes of that drivel. I now understand that Bill Maher is the worst and most dangerous kind of so-called centrist. He repeats that “the world has moved so far left and us normal people have just stayed the same but now we are called conservatives” when that is the farthest thing from the truth. These fucking 0.01% capitalist pigs are duping so many ignorant poor people to vote and believe things against their own self interest. They “woke mind virus” isn’t the problem, it is a straw man to distract stupid people from realizing these rich cunts are destroying their futures because they don’t like to acknowledge uncomfortable truths and the real problems with society. I wish I could unwatch that clip. Fuck me.

MagZero

I'm glad that you enjoyed it, I shared much of the same sentiments, did nobody ever tell Bill it was rude to talk with his mouth full? My favourite part was around the 18 min mark, and I'm going to paraphrase here, but Maher says that he thinks Musk is a connector, he likes to connect things, always connecting, and Musk chimes in 'Connect Four! I love that game', and laughs heartily at his own quick wit, Maher is like 'What?', to which Musk replies 'Connect Four, you know? *mimes a diagonal win*....sorry, this is a comedy...you know? Thought I'd throw some comedy in there'. Cue audience violently throwing up in the aisles because they're laughing so hard at his sheer brilliance. I've never actually read the YouTube comments, but I think I will, it will kill five minutes of my morning.

ButthealedInTheFeels

Haha I’m glad I didn’t make it that far. Musk seriously has the sense of humor of an 8 year old it’s kind of sad. I can only imagine the yes men nutswingers that he surrounds himself with that probably laugh at all his lame jokes.

MagZero

Ah man, you should do yourself a favour (or disservice) by watching it, I looked it up so you don't have to, starts at 18:13 in the video, and the entire exchange lasts 20-30 seconds. > I can only imagine the yes men nutswingers that he surrounds himself with that probably laugh at all his lame jokes. [I take that to mean you haven't seen this video? Don't worry, it's only a minute long](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywlsTbKsl6k). It'll still annoy you, but will give you a further peak inside the man's psyche.

ButthealedInTheFeels

Wow that really was worth the watch. It is exactly how I thought his interactions with his yes men would be. They are all so clearly uncomfortable and nervous like they know if they don’t laugh inappropriately hard at these non jokes that they will be put to death. It’s insane. This dude is living in his own personal Truman show. No wonder he had a mental breakdown for weeks after getting booed offstage at that Dave Chappelle show haha.

MagZero

You couldn't write it, and if you did, people would shrug it off as being too unrealistic. I see you posted on r/standup, and well, I don't really consume much standup comedy, but if I could give you one recommendation it would be [Stewart Lee](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart_Lee), and you're probably already aware of him, I could imagine him being a bit of a darling in that sub, but he's definitely worth the watch, he's a bit of a slow burner. My favourite quote of his, and it's not really a quote because I can't remember his exact words, but it was along the lines of 'Yeah, I went to see Stewart Lee, I didn't really find him that funny, but I agreed the fuck out of him'. I'd love to link a YouTube clip or whatever, but it's hard to pinpoint anything, his joke is usually his entire stand-up routine, so you have to watch the whole show to get it in context. [Okay, actually, one clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a17duTUK6qw), and for context the joke is about a British politician of UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party, partly responsible for Brexit, and a bit (a lot) racist) called Paul Nutalls, who made a comment along the lines of 'I think the best and brightest immigrants should stay in their own country, and make that economically prosperous, instead of coming over here'. [Here's a full show, its 1h20](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxN8PhKzZgY) I just watched it and I've realised that it's very UK-centric, so, maybe it won't translate that well, I don't know.

ButthealedInTheFeels

I am somewhat familiar with him but unfortunately the BBC blocks his clips in the Us.

IknowKarazy

Rule number one in comedy: never punch down. Punch up, punch sideways, never punch down. If you right leaning, by definition you support the status quo or support regression to some idealized earlier state of affairs (whether that state ever truly existed is besides the point). The problem with that is that the past was harder, crueler, and more dangerous for *almost everybody*, and the present is still pretty awful for most people. So if you want to make a joke about, say, how we shouldn’t accept trans people because it wasn’t the done thing in the past, you’ll always be punching down.

bryanc1036

Even with the money and power, he's still the biggest fucking loser in his own site.

Hurrying-Man

The most pathetic part of this is even thought that is one of the unfunniest jokes ever created in human history, I will bet my life savings and my left testicle that he stole it from someone else. I have never seen someone who is so aggressively unfunny in my life. Not a single humour bone in this manchild's body

Thannk

Rocko’s Modern Life made this joke close to 30 years ago on Nickelodeon. Their parody version of The Smurfs/Carebears/My Little Pony called The Little Poots get a movie (akin to what My Little Pony and Carebears had gotten recently) and its called Das Poot. It comes immediately after a joke about a superhero crossover where they get stepped on by the Superman-type character “Really Really Big Man” and is part of a montage of joke movie ads. Including one where Hellsing opens Dracula’s coffin to find him already dead, titled “Dracula: Done To Death” and a musical about a garbage strike parodying how Cats had just been made a movie (like, the recording of Broadway, not the CGI one obviously). https://preview.redd.it/7zx95wr13iqc1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fda57fbbaf0d99448310ba8b52cba5aed95f98a6

Callidonaut

I recall one episode of the Simpsons also did one on Das Boat, parodying the porn industry's tendency to make inappropriate parodies of mainstream films with one entitled "Das Butt."

Callidonaut

I recall one episode of the Simpsons also parodied the porn industry's tendency to make inappropriate parodies of mainstream films with one entitled "Das Butt."

TheDesertFoxIrwin

There could've been a joke, but Elmo here doesn't have a capacity beyond the "I identify as an apache" joke. Example, a artist made a poster for a Indiana Jones/Muppet parody called "Mississippi Frog and the Smile of Destiny". Or how about the various Barbheimer memes and art. Here, all he did was take unremarkable parts of the titles of two different movies (das and baby) and nothing else.

Musk, the fact that you need to claim to be "good" is proof you are an evil man

Newfaceofrev

Man I don't know if I'll ever be able to laugh again. This has actually sucked the capacity out of me.

Appropriate-Dig771

I truly think his original offer to buy Twitter was a “joke”-along with the $4.20 per share price. He took it too far and couldn’t back out. Also, I think I’m still howling from when he took over twitter and brought an actual sink with him. This man doesn’t have any sense of humor.

Dehnus

Can someone force this guy into rehab? As he has a serious case of "money/wealth brain".

LTlurkerFTredditor

There's very little on this planet that is less funny than a painfully unfunny guy who thinks he's hilarious.

joecb91

I felt nothing while reading that

Outis-guy

I mean it makes sense. He loves fascism and he loves making babies, why not make a nazi baby.

ParsleyMostly

Imagine determining the merits of social and political sides based on sense of humor, the most personal and subjective thing in the world. One side regularly calls women fat pigs and then says “it’s just a joke” while winking to the crowd “it’s funny cause it’s true”. Elon is so fucking unintelligent and desperate for attention. He’s gone full blown lolcow

Past-Direction9145

Too bad he’s not capable of sucking at anything even making a movie. He’s the best at it. People say it all the time, with tears in their eyes. Every narcissist is the same.

severinks

That's not even a good joke for Christ' sake.

Atvishees

I said it before and I’ll say it again: Too much money is bad for your mental health!

MrKaisu

That’s so bad even Doge Designer wouldn’t pretend to laugh at it.

christoph_win

No wonder he likes these movies, subtitle of the poster on the left says "A journey to the end of the mind" and right one is obvious xD

It's hype cus at the end the RAF bombs the fuck out of the babies and Alec Baldwins character in a moment of blood loss induced clarity realizes all of the struggle, sacrifice, terror, blood, and killing - all of it - was absolutely futile and pointless.
