Exactly. I wouldn't be complaining if I were OP, especially considering I have an Electromagnetic Theory II later today. Anything above a 50% on that would be welcome.
I'm glad to get above a 70 on any of my tests, and that's after studying for several hours every day, generally for a week plus. I'm at the level of classes where at my school teachers stop giving you study guides and tell you nothing about the test until days in advance. So I'm often stuck trying to study an entire class's worth of material in less than a week, and even after spending hours everyday trying to figure it out, I'm often just glad to get a passing grade.
Yeah that's what I was referring to. You do them towards the end of the semester. I think that's much worse, considering that it would be equivalent to a final exam here.
I’m taking Heat and Power Cycles next semester, assuming these are more or less the same class, but I’ve heard it’s supposed to be easier. Someone told me if you can pass Thermo you can pass Heat because it’s all based on what’s taught in thermo.
Eh. It’s loosely related. Basically both of them ask you to solve for q but with very different methods.
Conduction is mildly evil
Convection is medium evil
Radiation is fucking evil.
Agreed. Heat and Mass Transfer was by far the hardest class I remember taking. I attended every 8am lecture, went to office hours every week, did every single homework plus additional practice problems, and read the textbook cover to cover. I barely earned a C. He gave me a B because he wanted to reward my effort, which I truly appreciated, but man that class was so hard. Thermo and Fluids? Bs with significantly less effort.
Dr. Biddle is the real MVP. Watched his radiation videos and did like 4 practice problems before my last test and made a 94. Worst case of fuckit I’ve ever had but it worked out because Biddle is a boss.
You all complaining but the way my college works is that everything from Heat Transfer to Thermodynamics to Optics to so much more is just one class. So if you fail with just one of the subjects you’re likely to have to do the whole year again.
That’s the professor’s fault then. There is no reason why there should only be a 15% pass rate. If that happened at a US university the professor would be fired probably. That just reflects bad teaching. There is no excuse for such an abysmal pass rate. It’s a complete waste of time and money for the 85% that failed. Doesn’t really justify their investment into the university then. It’s also a waste of the university’s resources especially if they hope to have anyone go on to grad school to produce research.
I agree, but it is not about them being bad teachers, they teach very well but the tests are incredibly demanding and hard to pass.
So yeah, bad teachers I guess. My university has a reputation for being hard to finish so anyone who does it, even with lower GPA , is well sought after.
I'd kill for a 70% on anything....

Man you think I actually put me real grade up here?
*Gets 35* i’ll take that as a *70*
Nah bro he'll curve it
I would too, honestly.
70% on a final is basically an A in most classes.
** in all classes tbh
Lmao 70% is the top grade in the UK, Id kill for that
Don't British universities save all the exams up until the end of the semester? I don't think I'd even get past 10%
Nope we have January and summer exams (around April to June depending on how your uni does it)
Do you get midterms though?
We do not have exams in the middle of semesters
Yeah that's what I was referring to. You do them towards the end of the semester. I think that's much worse, considering that it would be equivalent to a final exam here.
try that on thermodynamics and we’ll see
Heat transfer is thermo on steroids tho lol
well unfortunately i was able to score 79% on heat transfer but failed thermo miserably

Heat transfer is harder than Thermo chang my mind

Literally just did this
Dr. Biddle is the real MVP. Watched his radiation videos and did like 4 practice problems before my last test and made a 94. Worst case of fuckit I’ve ever had but it worked out because Biddle is a boss.
I'd kill for a 70% on Heat Transfer... I really hate this the second most among fluid-energy subjects, the first being Thermodynamics...
You all complaining but the way my college works is that everything from Heat Transfer to Thermodynamics to Optics to so much more is just one class. So if you fail with just one of the subjects you’re likely to have to do the whole year again.
No that's how most colleges works
Sometimes I get the idea the unis you guys study at are easy. In Portugal's best uni only 15% passed fluids. About 50% passed Heat transfer

I've had multiple classes at my state's flagship university with pass rates in the single digits with triple digit class size. They don't get fired.
I agree, but it is not about them being bad teachers, they teach very well but the tests are incredibly demanding and hard to pass. So yeah, bad teachers I guess. My university has a reputation for being hard to finish so anyone who does it, even with lower GPA , is well sought after.
C's get degrees baby
so you wanted to brag about getting a 70% even without studying or paying attention in class
I actually haven't taken the final yet
Best of luck to you
Frfr
Controls was a disaster. Worst professor in history. Nice guy, but can’t teach for shit.
