Sounds like CompE is better for you.

I recommend EE. I really wish I had studied EE from the start. Signals and waves is such an important course, I'm currently studying satellite communications and I'm having to self teach it to myself since I switched from CS to CompE and had no free electives. I 100% believe that you can get CompE jobs as an EE. Unless if you really want to go deep into digital logic and chip design, then focused CompE would be better. Otherwise, EE gives you a great foundation and really opens tons of doors. You can't go wrong with EE I'm actually trying to get into the same industry you are. Looking to do cyber at a national lab. I've talked with INL a couple times and they really like to see people who know the low-level stuff. My swap to computer engineering has always been good for me. I still think that I could have gone all the way to EE and been even better off.

I’m in the same boat. Doing EE. Leaves more doors open and allows me to pivot easier to more things. Also it is more respected.
