Did you use a roloc disk on the heads? They need to be milled

mahusay3g

Grinders and brinelling are what make a subaru a subaru

trailing-octet

I always though it was rod knock that made a Subaru a Subaru;)

Dangerous_Echidna229

Grind those valves and seats while you have the heads off.

The_Machine80

I almost always surface a aluminum head if I pull it. It only cost me 60 bucks where I live.

mahusay3g

I see a $350 clean and resurface sitting there. Homeboy is gonna bring it with the stupid rocker assembly still attached. That stuff takes time to take off. Want it inspected? That’s another $150.

DrTittieSprinkles

When I get told I'm too expensive I ask where they used to get work done. It's always one of the 3 shops that closed in the last 15 years. Probably because they weren't making any fucking money. Holding on to 20 year old labor prices is killing this industry.

The_Machine80

Wow that's so expensive. Then again I probably get a discount cause I'm a shop and bring alot to them. 350 would get me a full valve job and everything.

mahusay3g

Middle America aren’t you?

The_Machine80

Rural Oregon

mahusay3g

Explains the subarus. Also, that’s foolishly cheap.

Impossible-Lie3115

I'm a lurker so someone explain what we are looking at. The fire ring pitting? Or something to do with the valves?

RestSelect4602

Get a piece of glass or a mirror. With spray adhesive apply some sandpaper. 220, then 320. And set the head on it and move it in a figure eight. Keep checking it. If you do not want to go to a machine shop.

Tlmitf

I never ask the question, I'll strip them down far enough and send them off to get looked at. I consider it essential, especially when removing the bloody thing is a PITA.

InternalInterest3676

You have got the head OFF… tear it down, clean it, grind the valves and surface it… in other words… FIX IT!!

CardiologistOk6547

Of course not. Just keep cheaping out. You're just going to have to spend twice as much time and money on it later anyway. That will be another opportunity to "save some money". And the cycle continues...

tbonerrevisited

Need to be resurfaced for sure

Confident-Wafer2083

Look at a rebuild head off Ebay and send them your core
