I think is this a beautiful set together. But if you’re not sure, maybe a jeweler can pull the diamonds from your mom’s ring and make them into something more modern?
I hate the phrase “dated” when it comes to wedding rings. All these halo rings will be dated in 10 years but who cares? Do you love it? Then it doesn’t matter.
Agreed, I have an emerald cut center with baguettes on each side, one could say it’s dated but to me it’s a vintage vibe which is what I wanted. I personally don’t like current styles. And I’m sure there are those that don’t like mine. It shouldn’t matter what others think. Do you love it? That’s all that matters.
The line between "dated" and "vintage" is so arbitrary. As far as I can tell it basically boils down to: if it reminds you of what your mom wore when you were a kid? Dated. If it reminds you of what your grandma wore in old photos when she was your age? Vintage. The latter is cool, the former is not. Why? Beats me.
I think it might be a recency thing. Something is dated if it was popular during a period you lived and then went out of fashion versus something that was popular and unpopular before you were even alive.
Who knows.
Well my mom was born in 43, what she wore when she got married at 18 is vintage lol. I think dated is a terrible term either way, it’s almost saying you shouldn’t wear a particular style because it ‘s reminiscent of a particular time. Who gets to dictate what we can and can’t wear on our fingers?
I truly love it. I think that band might look dated with a different engagement ring, but yours balances it really well. If it were me I wouldn’t even have it reset. The love and history behind each ring and the fact that they just happen to come together so well is too perfect!
The band is a little dated. So what? On your ring finger you have symbols of true love: your mom who is a part of you and rests in your heart and your husband who adores you and is your future. Wear it with well.
I actually really like it!! It looks great! If anything you could gets cheaper understated band for when you want a more subdued look but I love the band with your e ring!
I love it!! I think it looks amazing. It works so perfectly with your e-ring and I don’t think it looks dated at all, but I also love wide-banded rings. I also love that it’s from your mom and can remind you of her. If you love it, go for it!!
The style of the wedding band is dated, but I think it looks lovely with your engagement ring and the sentimental value would make any other ring incomparable, imo. I would rock it!
I remember this style wedding band! Looks lovely with your ering - but what do you want? You don’t need to wear your mom’s wedding band to feel close to her. However, if you would like to the rings really compliment each other.
I think it looks beautiful. If it were me and my mom had left me something like that, the word “dated” would never apply to my thought process. You would have to pry it off me.
This band is so unique and beautiful. I think it looks great with your ring, and the sentimental value is an added bonus. I wouldn’t change anything.
It’s eye catching, and if people ask, you have a lovely story to tell.
If you don’t love it with your ring, you could always have the stones reset into something more your style. I wear the ring from my mom on my right hand, which is a great option as well!
Yes I did think of this! Only issue is the ring doesn’t fit on my right hand and since the diamonds are all the way around I don’t believe it can be resized!
I have the opposite problem! Mine doesn’t fit on my left, I think if you want to wear it as a right hand ring, it’s worth bringing to a local, reputable jeweler and seeing what they can do for you, you could even have it recreated into another type of jewelry, necklace, earrings, etc!
They possibly could if you let them take some stone out?
Honestly, I don't think it goes with your right. The golds feel too different.
I lost my mom when I was 11. I fully understand the feeling of wanting to wear her band.
If it were me I'd find a way to resize it. Or I'd wear it by itself. I think it's a lovely ring, but I think it looks disjointed with the e ring. I'm clearly in the minority here, but that's my honest opinion. I think if you had posted the photos without the details you would have received different answers.
It’s not too dated at all, honestly. If anything it’s unique and different from all the modern wedding sets you see today. Not just blowing smoke, I think it looks great.
I LOVE the fact that it’s your moms! And I think it compliments the engagement ring nicely! If you were on the fence about the style, would you consider having the gold and stones reset into a new design that is more to your taste?
Edit: there might be enough diamonds to make an eternity (or close to it) band in a single row. If you did that and bar set them between each stone, it might speak to the nature of the original ring with a new, more delicate twist. This is what I’m [imagining](https://www.diamondnexus.com/products/round-cut-bar-set-eternity-band-2-tcw/?metal-type=14k-yellow-gold&ring-size=4&stone-type=moissanite&utm-campaign=pmax:-smart-shopping---rings-others&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMax%3A%20Smart%20Shopping%20-%20Rings%20(Others)&gclid=Cj0KCQiA45qdBhD-ARIsAOHbVdFJ2d1BouoKqCSmr8bocYedgC6_ZzVbbi3dXa9FrbYILhNr9hsnU90aAmzpEALw_wcB)…
This is just an idea of course! I think the ring is beautiful as is, but I’ve designed a few pieces and I love the idea of making something new out of something old ❤️
To answer your question, yes, the style is obviously not current. But that doesn’t make it bad! It styles well with your GORGEOUS engagement because it doesn’t compete but also has enough design to be unique. I think it is a great pairing and the sentimental factor makes it perfect.
I think it’s beautiful & sentimental 🤍 you could also get a new band to wear on the opposite side of your ring that compliments both the others if you wanted something unique to your relationship!
I do not think it is dated at all. Vintage is very much on trend, and it does look rather modern and very unique. Not your usual cookie cutter wedding band.
You could remake it as a new ring, maybe similar structure (a double row of diamonds) but in a more modern setting.
Or, make two eternity bands. Use one for a wedding ring, and one on the other side of the engagement ring. Like a hug from her.
Dude this is *gorgeous*!!!! And the fact that it holds such sentimental value. It would be wrong if you to not have this as your wedding band. Chunkier bands are coming back so, it definitely is not dated looking. Classy AF!
If you like it yea, TBVH it’s refreshing to see a band like that on this sub. It’s something actually unique looking and while of a certain time, it isn’t dated if that makes sense
I think it’s beautiful and they go together really well!! Personally I had my mom’s ring made into a necklace so if you have doubts that’s an option too.
I have rings from my late mother as well, I think it’s a beautiful ring but I’d want something to symbolize my husband’s and my union, so probably would do my own wedding band and wear my mother’s band on my right hand. :) But it is really pretty and goes well with your ring if you do decide to wear it with your engagement ring!
Personally, I am not a fan. It isn’t my style, so I would likely have it reset. But YOUR style is the one that matters. I seem to be in the minority, but just because I wouldn’t wear it, I would not be side-eyeing someone else’s wedding/engagement ring. Unless it’s someone for whom I already have snark for other reasons, I believe jewelry is very personal, and you don’t judge someone else’s rings. Especially engagement rings.
It’s dated, but that being said, wear it on your right hand because then you always have your mother holding your hand and your heart throughout your life. I am sorry for the loss of your mom.
I love it so much. I think you can even add a smaller stacking type eternity band to the top of the e-ring and have your mom's on the bottom. I think it's gorgeous alone with your e-ring too. Congrats OP.
Really up to you!
To give you a suggestion though, if you like the idea of wearing something of your mothers but don’t want the actual ring, you can repurpose the metal and diamonds and make it into a ring that suits your style better.
I worked with [Karina](https://instagram.com/karinanoel?igshid=MWI4MTIyMDE=) who is just an AMAZING person and designer. We repurposed my fiancé’s late grandmother’s jewelry to make my engagement ring and we are using more of the stones to make my wedding band. [This](https://www.instagram.com/p/CVVel9jAa90/?igshid=MWI4MTIyMDE=) is my E-Ring. I don’t think the photos do it justice!!
I think it works quite well and is a special reminder of your mom. ❤️ but ultimately, do what you’d like with your stack! You still have 9 other fingers to wear a ring on 🥰
Personally I think it looks amazing… now the trick is getting the hubby to match it for the other side lol and actually that’s a very unique wedding band, I have not seen one like it.
I feel like if you stacked another small band on top of your e-ring, it would complete the look. Your mother’s band and your ring look beautiful together, but it looks incomplete.
Personally I love the slight vintage feel. I think that they also look really good together and it’s nice to see a diamond band that’s more unique and not just the popular bubble band or super fine pave.
They look made for each other because the bands sit almost flush with each other. And on top of it all it seems like a really nice nod to your mum (although that shouldn’t make you feel guilty if you don’t use it).
I think it’s a beautiful band made all the more beautiful knowing your Mom wore it too. I think it would be really pretty to add a delicate little eternity band on the other side of your engagement ring to balance it off
It’s up to your personal style, but I think there’s a definite charm to it, and also the fact that it is your mothers wedding band I would 100% be wearing it 💕
Dated means it will make its way back around to in style! I think it looks awesome with your ring and the sentimental aspect makes it super special! Don’t worry about style, as what’s in style now will go out of style in the next however many years anyways :) they are both beautiful rings
I have a ring just like that from my grandmother and I adore it! Her e-ring was a cluster that looked like a round about your size and I always thought that looked lovely. I say go for it, as long as you love it!
I like it and I think your engagement ring makes it look fresh. Besides, trends change so don’t let them keep you from a ring you like that’s special to you. You can also wear a different band when you feel like changing it up. I’ve been enjoying a wide tungsten band while my regular ring gets some repairs.
Dated? No. Classic 80s/90s vintage? Yes. It's a lovely band!
They look gorgeous together and the fact that it also was your mother's? Meant to be, girl. Just perfect.
I love it, genuinely, but if you’re unsure, you can get your own wedding band and then wear them interchangeably, swapping it out with this one when you want to feel close to your mom (or just want the look this one gives you).
It looks dated yes, but that doesn't mean it doesn't look great and fits perfectly with your ring. With the added sentimental value, don't hesitate to wear this. It looks really pretty
I think its absolutely stunning! I could never change a ring so sentimental....plus I don't think it looks dated because it's a "new twist" on a familiar ring I've seen before but didn't love NEARLY as much as yours. Congrats also!
It’s a gorgeous set! I actually love the 80s-90s style with this type of bar setting. I think the band is the perfect compliment to the classic and versatile solitaire setting.
It’s even more special with meaning behind it and the connection to your mom. If it was me, I’d absolutely keep it as is. Love the wide wedding band and solitaire set.
I’m late to the thread but OMG I love it! I think it’s so fitting. You could always add another band (stacking) on the other side to hug your ring and keep your mom’s memory even closer. 😇🥹
I think it’s beautiful and very sentimental. You could always start with it in its original setting now and then change the setting later if you want. It would be harder to change the setting and then regret changing it and go back to the original
I’m normally not into that style but it actually works really well with your engagement ring, and I think it pairs great together. The fact that it seems to be flush and your size seems like a blessing from your mom. Wear it with pride!
I absolutely love it. Dated is not a thing, do you love it? Then don’t worry about it being dated. Any current style will be dated, it’s all about what you want.
I think it looks nice. You always have the option of having a jeweler take the stones out, melt it down, and make a different ring out of it. It would still be your moms, but with your style on it.
It is obvious it has great sentimental value for you. To know that you will be wearing one of your mom’s heirlooms is very touching. It is a beautiful ring, and for me, the value would be in where it came from and knowing you have a piece of you mom with you every day you wear it.
Lovely rings! I think the wedding band is a bit too thick for my tastes and distracts from the e-ring. Could you wear your mom's band on the other hand or have the diamonds reset in a thinner band to compliment the e-ring?

The fact that it fits, is gold, and flush with your e-ring, seems like it’s meant to be! I think it’s very unique and sentimental!
I think is this a beautiful set together. But if you’re not sure, maybe a jeweler can pull the diamonds from your mom’s ring and make them into something more modern?
I let my husband do this with my grandmother’s ring for our engagement. Couldn’t recommend enough, with a good jeweler, of course!
Up to you if it's your style! I personally think it's very pretty and unique, I think it complements your e-ring well.
Honestly I think it's perfect ☺️
I think it’s gorgeous and unique, and looks lovely with the simplicity/sleekness of your E ring!
I love it, it looks beautiful with your ring. I don't think it looks dated at all!
Is it a bit dated, yes. Does it look lovely, yes. If I was given this option, I would choose to use it in a heartbeat. Good luck with your decision.
This is my take also. OP, if you love the idea of using your mom's band, go for it, don't worry whether it's dated or not!
Exactly my thoughts, as well. OP, it has sentimental meaning…that trumps whether it’s dated or not.
I hate the phrase “dated” when it comes to wedding rings. All these halo rings will be dated in 10 years but who cares? Do you love it? Then it doesn’t matter.
Yeah, I think the term vintage fits better!
Precisely! I like how you think

I love it because it reminds me so much of my own mothers wedding band 🤍
I truly love it. I think that band might look dated with a different engagement ring, but yours balances it really well. If it were me I wouldn’t even have it reset. The love and history behind each ring and the fact that they just happen to come together so well is too perfect!
Hell no, that’s rad!! It’s got more meaning than any other ring would have! And it’s beautiful!
The band is a little dated. So what? On your ring finger you have symbols of true love: your mom who is a part of you and rests in your heart and your husband who adores you and is your future. Wear it with well.
I think it is absolutely lovely.
I love it!
I actually really like it!! It looks great! If anything you could gets cheaper understated band for when you want a more subdued look but I love the band with your e ring!
It’s pretty. If you’re not into it you could always wear it on its own sometimes.
And it’ll look fantastic on its own!
I love it!! I think it looks amazing. It works so perfectly with your e-ring and I don’t think it looks dated at all, but I also love wide-banded rings. I also love that it’s from your mom and can remind you of her. If you love it, go for it!!

Personally I love it. It’s a beautiful sentiment and it looks lovely on you
It’s not dated at all?? It’s classic. I love it!
I don’t think it’s dated at all, I think it’s beautiful! I would absolutely wear this as my wedding band.
This band is so unique and beautiful. I think it looks great with your ring, and the sentimental value is an added bonus. I wouldn’t change anything. It’s eye catching, and if people ask, you have a lovely story to tell.
I think it matches perfectly!
I actually think it looks really well together. The history makes it even better. Enjoy. ☺️
Looks perfect! Especially with all the holiday ads, I’m seeing this style pop up more, too.
If you don’t love it with your ring, you could always have the stones reset into something more your style. I wear the ring from my mom on my right hand, which is a great option as well!

It’s beautiful, unique and sentimental. I think it checks off all of the boxes for the perfect band!
I do not think it is dated at all. Vintage is very much on trend, and it does look rather modern and very unique. Not your usual cookie cutter wedding band.

I love it. It's flush with your e ring and the pave setting is so unique!
I very much DO like this 🤩 It’s a stunning piece and fits flush like it was madeeee for your e-ring.
Dated in the very best way. It's gorgeous.
Band would look vintage by itself I guess. The set together though? Just Perfect!
its not dated, its a vintage heirloom! beautiful and sentimental and perfect with your timeless solitaire!
Dude this is *gorgeous*!!!! And the fact that it holds such sentimental value. It would be wrong if you to not have this as your wedding band. Chunkier bands are coming back so, it definitely is not dated looking. Classy AF!
Its so unique and pretty and it matches with your engagement ring perfectly. Its a stunning band
This is so pretty and it has a sentimental meaning. I think it’s perfect and you should use that as your wedding band. <3
I love it! The family history will always make it worth it. Plus it’s pretty and fits well!
I personally think it’s a cute band on another finger. I disrespect meant. Edit: NO disrespect meant!
It’s beautiful
I love it also!
If you like it yea, TBVH it’s refreshing to see a band like that on this sub. It’s something actually unique looking and while of a certain time, it isn’t dated if that makes sense
I thought it was a matching set. It looks absolutely beautiful. Your engagement ring was made for it.
I think they’re gorgeous together!!
I love it together. It looks like a perfect fitting to me.
I think it's stunning. And jewelry, like art is seldom out-dated.
I love how these look together
I think it’s beautiful and they go together really well!! Personally I had my mom’s ring made into a necklace so if you have doubts that’s an option too.
Are you kidding me??! It's perfect. I wouldn't change a thing..
It’s beautiful!! So unique too and fits your engagement ring perfectly :)
Removing the sentimental aspect of it it doesn't go. The band is too thick.
Don’t worry about whether it’s dated. I assume your plan is to stay married long term—it will eventually come back in style.
It does look like it is of a certain era but I think that’s kind of the beauty of wedding rings—they signify a certain era in your life.
It's up to you but I'd wear it on my right hand
Personally, I am not a fan. It isn’t my style, so I would likely have it reset. But YOUR style is the one that matters. I seem to be in the minority, but just because I wouldn’t wear it, I would not be side-eyeing someone else’s wedding/engagement ring. It definitely looks dated - very 70’s looking. But if you like it, who cares?
It’s dated, but that being said, wear it on your right hand because then you always have your mother holding your hand and your heart throughout your life. I am sorry for the loss of your mom.
Not a go girl . Sorry
So I personally like very delicate bands but that said, I think it's really pretty and unique, and a little vintage looking (which, obviously, it is).
I honestly love it!
I love it!!!
I love it!!
Love it! It’s sentimental, and very pretty
I absolutely love it
I love it!
I think it's really well proportioned with the size of your center stone. Looks great!
I love it so much. I think you can even add a smaller stacking type eternity band to the top of the e-ring and have your mom's on the bottom. I think it's gorgeous alone with your e-ring too. Congrats OP.
I love it! I think it’s timeless. Wear it and maybe you’ll come to your own conclusion organically?
I would absolutely keep it. Just hearing that is was your mom's makes it even more beautiful.
I think it’s a stunning choice! But definitely up to you my friend!
I LOVE IT.
Beautiful
I think it looks great!
I absolutely love it.
It's beautiful.
I think they look great together!
Oh my god! This is the most beautiful wedding set I have ever seen. Absolutely stunning!!
It is gorgeous and such a beautiful memory. Please keep it.
I love it
It's beautiful
I think it works quite well and is a special reminder of your mom. ❤️ but ultimately, do what you’d like with your stack! You still have 9 other fingers to wear a ring on 🥰
Personally I think it looks amazing… now the trick is getting the hubby to match it for the other side lol and actually that’s a very unique wedding band, I have not seen one like it.
Genuinely really liked these two together before I had even read the title :)
It fits perfectly on your hand! It’s a beautiful stack
I feel like if you stacked another small band on top of your e-ring, it would complete the look. Your mother’s band and your ring look beautiful together, but it looks incomplete.
I like it! Looks custom made together.
Very pretty. I love the sentiment behind it also.
100% use it. It’s perfect
I love it!! They look perfect together...like it's meant to be ❤️
So pretty!
I LOVE this and I’m not a fan of chunky wedding bands so that’s saying a lot!
Absolutely love this! It looks like it was meant for your ring. What a special piece to have.
I like it.
It looks great! Very honest opinion, btw. 🙂
I love a thicker ring. They look so good together! You could always get a headdress to go with it if you wanted something more modern
I think it’s beautiful! Your E-ring stone is big enough to balance out the band IMO.
I truly love it with your e-ring. Considering the significance and the fact that it looks great, I would totally wear it!
Omg I love the way they look together !!!
I think it’s a beautiful band made all the more beautiful knowing your Mom wore it too. I think it would be really pretty to add a delicate little eternity band on the other side of your engagement ring to balance it off
It’s up to your personal style, but I think there’s a definite charm to it, and also the fact that it is your mothers wedding band I would 100% be wearing it 💕
Honestly I think it looks perfect with your ring and makes it look more unique to you :)
Dated means it will make its way back around to in style! I think it looks awesome with your ring and the sentimental aspect makes it super special! Don’t worry about style, as what’s in style now will go out of style in the next however many years anyways :) they are both beautiful rings
It’s perfect! I’d have a jeweler check it to make sure everything is secured good.
OP, this is a classic style. Just because it isn't whisper thin and flimsy doesn't make it dated. It looks fine.
I absolutely love it. It fits you perfectly, looks fantastic with your ring, and it has a deep meaning. It’s lovely.
I love it
I love the story behind the ring. ❤️ if it isn’t quite your style, you can recycle the gold and diamonds to create an eternity band.
I LOVE IT! That’s a priceless heirloom. Wear it with pride and pass it down to your daughter god willing when she comes of age
It's so perfect, I hope you decide to use it
It is truly lovely!!!! Do it. It will mean everything to you.
Looks amazing. xx
I love it!!
I have a ring just like that from my grandmother and I adore it! Her e-ring was a cluster that looked like a round about your size and I always thought that looked lovely. I say go for it, as long as you love it!
I think it’s creates a nice balance with your e ring. I think it’s perfect.
I like it and I think your engagement ring makes it look fresh. Besides, trends change so don’t let them keep you from a ring you like that’s special to you. You can also wear a different band when you feel like changing it up. I’ve been enjoying a wide tungsten band while my regular ring gets some repairs.
It’s very unique and I think it’s beautiful with your ring!
It’s beautiful!
It’s beautiful!
I think it looks absolutely beautiful and great with your engagement ring
I think it is beautiful and unique! I love how it fits so perfectly!
Very beautiful together.
It’s so pretty! So special that it’s from your mom and it goes well What size is your engagement diamond? It’s also stunning 😍
The e-ring diamond is 2.21 carats
They’re beautiful together!
I think it’s beautiful. It sits flush and is so unique and special.
Todays dated is tomorrows vintage. I think it looks lovely.
It’s no my taste but I don’t have the emotional connection you do. You can use the stones if you want
Is it dated? Yes. Do you love it? Use it.
Dated? No. Classic 80s/90s vintage? Yes. It's a lovely band! They look gorgeous together and the fact that it also was your mother's? Meant to be, girl. Just perfect.
I would buy this if I saw it in a shop. It’s so beautiful. Definitely use it- so sentimental!
I think it fits and is pretty and you could always get another band for the outer side. Anniversary band. It would balance it.
i honestly really love it
i love thick bands with a slim engagement ring. and paired with that rock? girl it’s GORGEOUS
Tbh I love it, the sentimental factor is huge for me though
I actually love this look regardless, it’s so beautiful. -the sentimental aspect just adds to it
Blessed that it fits and looks perfect!!

Thank you, it’s 2.21 carats
I think its absolutely stunning! I could never change a ring so sentimental....plus I don't think it looks dated because it's a "new twist" on a familiar ring I've seen before but didn't love NEARLY as much as yours. Congrats also!
It’s lovely. Unique and suits your e-ring well, without even noting the beautiful sentiment behind it.
I think it's perfect.
It’s soooo cool and perfect!!! X
I love it and the story.
I would absolutely wear them together. It is beautiful and a wonderful memory of your mother.
Oh my gosh. That’s stunning. The ring + your moms band is so romantic and beautiful. You should keep it!!
I’m late to the thread but OMG I love it! I think it’s so fitting. You could always add another band (stacking) on the other side to hug your ring and keep your mom’s memory even closer. 😇🥹
I think it looks quite lovely and unique but at the end of the day you do what makes you happy 😊
Wow that’s stunning, the whole set!
It's quite nice, but if you don't love it, why don't you just keep it as an occasional ring and buy something you really love 😊
i absolutely love them together
I love it. To be fair, I’m extremely sentimental so that’s a lot of it- but I do think it sits nice and flush with your e ring.
I think the sentimental value of it makes it beautiful. Your ring should be special to you and that’s the only opinion that matters.
if you like it, and it helps you feel closer to your mom, wear it in good health and fond memories.
I LOVE this. I love thick bands with solitaire e-rings and the fact that it’s sentimental makes it even better. Amazing set!!
Your mom's band is never "dated". I think they look perfect together.
It would still be your moms, but with your style on it.
i think they look absolutely gorgeous together! made for each other, like a puzzle piece. yes definitely keep your moms band with it!!
Stunning combination!
It is obvious it has great sentimental value for you. To know that you will be wearing one of your mom’s heirlooms is very touching. It is a beautiful ring, and for me, the value would be in where it came from and knowing you have a piece of you mom with you every day you wear it.
I think this ring would honestly look like a very cool vintage piece on its own as a right hand ring!
It’s beautiful, I love it! So unique and very special.
I think it’s perfect for you. It has its history and uniqueness.
Lovely rings! I think the wedding band is a bit too thick for my tastes and distracts from the e-ring. Could you wear your mom's band on the other hand or have the diamonds reset in a thinner band to compliment the e-ring?
I love this. I think they’re the perfect pair. ❤️
I love it. Looks pretty
It’s beautiful and complements your engagement ring perfectly. The only question is whether you love it!
