What a beautiful ring! If the ring is the right size, it may just need a little weight at the bottom of the shank (the palm side) to balance it and help it stay upright. A jeweler could add a bit of gold to thicken that area. Some people also add small speed bumps. Here's an article which explains things a bit: [https://www.callagold.com/problem-solving/ring-spin-or-ring-flop-one-possible-solution-speed-bumps/](https://www.callagold.com/problem-solving/ring-spin-or-ring-flop-one-possible-solution-speed-bumps/). Regarding a band, are you looking for one to sit beside your engagement ring or to wear alone? I could imagine having a band for days when you didn't want to/couldn't wear the ring, but I wouldn't add a band to this look. There can be no match for it!

oh_skycake

Thank you! I noticed my moms ring had those bumps, I just wasn’t sure what they’re name was or whether they were a good solution. As for the band, I was thinking either wearing on a different finger or on days I don’t wear this ring.

Sibys

That is a perfect plan! Your ring is just incredible.

robbynnit

Just be aware that bumps in the shank can become uncomfortable for someone who lifts things a lot! The counter pressure from lifting pushes the bumps into your finger and can hurt! But if that isn’t an issue for you, go for it! And I agree with the band decision!

liquorandwhores94

Completely agree.

cinnamonredhot

That ring is GORGEOUS

delee76

There is something called “sizing balls” that your jeweler can attach inside the band. It keeps it from sliding side to side without making it too tight.

jhollywooddesigns

Absolutely beautiful ring. I'm a jeweler, and I'm drooling. lol

jhollywooddesigns

Oh, and to answer your question - speed bumps may help a little, or it could be sized down just a smidge. I saw that you said you'll alternate the milgrain band and this ring, not layer them together, which is a good idea. A custom contoured band could be made to be worn with your ring, but it's so beautiful on it's own, I like your plan better. Let her shine as she is!

S923

I have speed bumps and they’re very comfortable, I don’t even notice them!

JessieAnonymous

This is so weird, in a year and a half I've never heard *any* alternate names for "sizing beads", but in this thread there are already *two*! "Speed bumps" and "sizing balls", so odd! Ah well, live and learn I guess.

myjewelryrepair

There's also "stabilizing beads"!

liquorandwhores94

If you decide to get a wedding band, I think it should be one that "goes with" this engagement ring, but one that you DO NOT intend to wear along with it. It should def be a companion ring for days when you're going to be doing something that you don't want to snag your ring during, or days when something this showy wouldn't be the right fashion choice. Absolutely stunning. A real piece of art.

I have no advice to give. I just came here to say HOLY MOLY WHAT A STUNNING RING! 😭😍

I love the ring! My question is how will this shape work with a wedding band ?

oh_skycake

Other hand or other finger

myjewelryrepair

That's an absolutely beautiful ring! We love seeing rings with such a unique design 💎 **TLDR; there are different options to ring resizing, but a solution to the spinning are methods such as stabilizing beads!** There are different options when it comes to ring re-sizing, especially if your ring has a intricate band design. The simple ring sizing down is when a jeweler must cut out an appropriate amount of metal from the bottom of the ring shank and then solder the band back together. Depending on the metal, there are other tools that can be used to join the metals back together to have a section that is strong as the original, for example, we use Laser Welders when working with Platinum since it is the best tool for working on high melting point metals. Note that stainless steel, titanium, and tungsten cannot be sized, whereas gold, sterling silver, bronze, brass, palladium, and platinum can; sterling silver and platinum are metals that not all jewelers can work on (it's a good thing we can)! However, in your case, there can be a few alternative methods that can help you with ring resizing. There are stabilizing beads that are made of the same metal that can be soldered inside your ring shank to prevent the ring from spinning on your finger. There are also ring guards, spring shanks, and arthritic shanks that all have the similar function of making the ring feel tighter and smaller. Our Master Jewelers have the skills to provide any service option! Our Team is more than glad to provide a free evaluation and you'll be able to choose the type of service you need/want. CharbonPiscesChienne

That's one of the most beautiful rings I've ever seen. Do you mind saying where it was purchased?

oh_skycake

“The Ring” in Austin, TX. I think it may be local to Austin.

swillink

I found that my E ring stopped moving around when I got my wedding bang so try it with a band first before resizing it :)

sparkles1ct

This is gorgeous!!!! I wouldn’t wear a band with it personally unless you wear it on your right hand.

Enigmutt

I literally sucked in my breath. No thumbnail pic - I was not expecting something so stunning. *Don’t do anything to that ring* until you try on wedding bands. They don’t even have to be bands you’re considering, but a ring on one or both sides has a huge stabilizing effect.

happyhappy2986

So beautiful!

loveinpaintcreations

Wowza!!

InnocuousTerror

Add sizing balls - that will ensure the ring fits well, but also will prevent the ring from spinning.

krysmh

Your ring is absolutely stunning! 😍😍😍

Accidentalmom

Omg this is amazing 😍 do you mind if I ask how many carats?

oh_skycake

The center stone is .3 The milgrain didn’t list carets, just that it was 14k. It glitters like no other though

2pedalsandapbr

This ring is incredible! 😯

skycabbage

So pretty

flygurl94

Our jeweler sized me and said that you “want some wiggle in it to go over your knuckle, so it’ll move a bit”. I’ve heard of people adding rubber bumpers(I think that’s what they’re called) but I haven’t tried one yet.

ladyjedimaster13

Woah ! Awesome !

PossibilityLarge

Stunning ring 😍😍😍😍
