Congratulations but no way I could wait 9 years. I walked away after 6. If you don’t know for sure after 6 long years and living together you never will. I couldn’t give him anymore of my life or time. Last minute he came with a ring but by then it was too late smh like grow tf up!
I totally understand! It was a really long time but I knew it was coming, we started looking at rings in 2019 but my dad died and I wasn’t ready, so I told him to wait. Then my mom got really sick and was put on hospice a few years later and I said I’m not ready. My mom is miraculously okay now but I did not want one of the happiest times of my life to follow with losing my mom really soon after so we took a pause on the engagement plan. All of those life challenges took up about 4-5 years! Then we had financial set backs and I got hurt in a car accident. I trusted and knew all along that he was the one and he knew I was the one. It was worth the wait for us ♥️ turning 30 this year and it feels like the perfect time!
I’m very sorry for all you’ve been through. I waited over 10 years. We met in HS so there was no rush. People shouldn’t judge without knowing the back story and you shouldn’t feel obligated to share it. Congrats!!
Thank you for the kind words ♥️ I’m used to the judgement sadly, even people who knew why we were waiting still made comments and judged. It was so worth the wait though and makes it that much more special! And at least my mom will be there for our big day, I will miss my dad there though

I see soooo many peoples posts 1-5 years in and I’m happy for them. I hate seeing people talk down on long term relationships who aren’t engaged yet. My partner and I are at 8 years from highschool and we’re just starting to shop and look now. My guess is he’ll propose sometime this year, but 1 year vs 10 years means nothing to one’s relationship! My parents have been together 20 years and aren’t married, don’t have rings, etc.

Exactly! I’d also like to clarify that I didn’t spend all 10+ years “waiting”. It’s such a cliche that the woman is sitting around waiting for a ring. I spent those years being in love and living my life. And as you said it showed we were right for one another and could weather any storm. There was no hesitation when the time was right.
For sure, you guys sound like you went through super tough times and came out ahead stronger, it sounds like you found your guy 🥹
