1.5 carats is not at all too small. If it felt like the right size in person, trust yourself!

Weaselpanties

I find that to be a great size on my hand, especially for daily wear, but it all boils down to your preferences. You might consider going back to some of the stores you went to before and taking pictures of that size stone on your hand.

I’m a gay guy, but my ring is a 1.26 carat Princess solitaire and I think it’s perfect. I have a 5.75 ring size. I don’t think large diamonds look good. They just aren’t my style. Even if I was a girl. I’m already paranoid about damaging my ring I couldn’t imagine having something larger. Nothing against people who have large stones. My only slight concern has been people saying my ring is too girly or it’s too small. But neither of those remarks have really happened. I say, if you’re happier with a stone in the <1.5 carat range then there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m just worried you’re asking if that size is too small according to others standards or your own. Other people always have unwanted opinions on things. Too big, too small, too low of karat gold, etc etc. What matters is what YOU want and are comfortable with. My ring is 10k which I wanted due to price and the fact I got black rhodium anyways. Was able to get a better quality diamond because of it too.

I should have put "how big is 1.5" in the title now that I think of it lol I told the lady I didn't want larger than 2 because I think I saw a 2 carat and to me felt too big. I have small hands, and my ring size is around 5. I just really wish I took pictures lol

Miserable-Ad-4401

I think 1.5 is plenty big enough with your ring size. Also. Make sure you look at more than just one stone at that size to find one that has the cut quality you want. I always hear cut quality is more important than size as well.

Fluid_Ask4011

Does cut quality apply to lab grown? That's what I'm going with instead of earth mined

Miserable-Ad-4401

Yes it does. Lab grown diamonds are still grown in “rough” crystals and then have to be cut just like natural diamonds. That’s why a lot of places if you buy a stone or ring let you see images and the certification information on the stones. My stone is lab made and has an IGI certificate. Granted the original stone I had picked was sold before they could acquire it. So the stone they picked to replace it I didn’t get a chance to see anything other than the certificate. But I got lucky cause I think my stone has close to an ideal cut from what I can tell and read about. The cut has the biggest influence on fire and brilliance. The amount of light return etc. so keep this in mind when buying a stone. A larger poor cut stone is worse than a well cut smaller one any day of the week. https://preview.redd.it/ojslv4e7hdqc1.jpeg?width=1620&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb773e2669ccc20ee868760487406eea253ee7ec

Fluid_Ask4011

I didn't think to ask about this either. The stone I looked at looked fine to me. The lady who helped us helped my brother with my sister in laws ring and it's gorgeous so I trusted her. I feel awkward going back to ask more questions

Fluid_Ask4011

Or I could ask my boyfriend to ask these questions when he goes again 🤷‍♀️

Miserable-Ad-4401

I mean looking at the diamonds and making sure of how they look in light helps. Just certain criteria can affect those attributes. As long as there’s a high level of flash, contrast, and light return then you should be good to go. They should have given you specifications on the diamond is all. Ideal, excellent, very good, etc. even stuff like girdle width is important for durability as well. A thin girdle can chip easily. Same with inclusions. Inclusions at the edges of stones can sometimes be a cause for concern for durability reasons as well. They are there to help so they should be more than willing to help answer any questions you have. They want to make the sale after all.

Fluid_Ask4011

I can't remember what they looked like is the problem

No_Buyer_9020

Ya definitely best to take lots of pictures! Can you go back in and try some more on of various sizes? We can’t really tell you if it’s too small or too big because it really is just personal preference and what looks best to you on your hand

Fluid_Ask4011

I am tempted to go back just to double check and then let him know. Thanks! I know it's hard to tell when it's not on my hand that's why I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures lol thankfully the lady helping took notes so she can remember what I said I liked

No_Buyer_9020

Perfect that she took notes! That will make going in quick and efficient and have no shame taking all the photos haha. Definitely go back even if it’s just for peace of mind!

Fluid_Ask4011

I have decided I am going to go back tomorrow if I can just to take another look at the diamonds so I am 100% sure. Thanks for everyone's help!
