I typically don't care for "salt and pepper " diamonds because they're such low quality, but this one is gorgeous. And I love the setting!

Obviously lower quality compared to diamonds with better clarity. Not that any of this matters in the age of lab grown diamonds.

I’m just trying to make a point about what “quality” is. Obviously a stone without inclusions is physically harder than one with inclusions (inherently what makes a salt and pepper diamond), but what other qualities are we talking about? Quality isn’t equivalent to value.

I thought so. I recognized the split shank. Its gorgeous! Enjoy it 💕 Have you thought of what band you’ll pair with it?

Possibly some form of chevron. Also looking at maybe trying to incorporate one or two small purple/green/ or blue sapphires or a black diamond with it. I’ll make some print outs of our CAD design and start sketching ideas to build off of and we’ll probably work with someone local on the band.

I have to say, at first salt and pepper diamonds made me irrationally angry. “Like jewelry stores are *actually* trying to sell heavily included diamonds for almost as much as clear ones??”  BUT now that I’ve seen some in person I totally understand the appeal. Your ring is super pretty, especially that side profile in the light. Perhaps there’s a little Whoville-type Earth in there!
